MAC Short Fuse/Be Cool BB Dual-Ended Powerpoint Eye Pencil Review & Swatches
Short Fuse/Be Cool BB
MAC Short Fuse/Be Cool BB Powerpoint Eye Pencil (Dual-Ended) ($20.00 for 0.04 oz.) includes a pearly plum and off-white, but they’re just an odd kind of pencil eyeliner that wears decently but goes on so poorly! The color coverage was weak for both shades, and it was hard to build up or to even get an even layer of sheerer coverage out of the pencil.

Short Fuse
Short Fuse is a medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and flecks of faint shimmer throughout. It had semi-sheer color coverage in a single stroke, which was buildable to medium coverage with a second or third layer. The texture was waxier, so there was some glide, but it was still a bit firm and could have been more emollient, which I feel would have helped the color to apply more intensely on the lash line without moving it around. The color stayed on decently for eight hours.

Be Cool BB
Be Cool BB is a very pale silver–nearing white–with a pearly sheen. The pencil itself looked grayer, but the actual product appeared lighter and nearly white to my eye. The texture was waxier and firmer, so it tugged slightly on my lash line, though not to the point where it was actually painful. I felt like it could have glided on more comfortably and done a better job of depositing pigmentation and even coverage. It had medium color payoff that lasted for eight hours before fading visibly.

Pretty bummed about these.. I’m always game for interesting eye pencils, but not with this kind of application issues.
I absolutely love that white Be Cool BB shade to use on the tearducts for a bit of waterproofing that I know a waxier pencil would provide! (Damn these sporadically teary freaking eyes of mine!)
But how and where to use the purply plum, I haven’t a clue. Perhaps using short strokes instead of a single swipe? That’s how I apply liner anyway, because my hands aren’t very steady anymore. Sucks, because I used to have “surgeon” hands. Steady as a rock. Not now, though.
I never thought MAC would make my SL, and I don’t mean short list, either.
They both could have been beautiful, complimentary shades, but no – the formula has let them down.
I’m still surprised that these aren’t up to par, but on the other hand I have enough liners in my arsenal that I don’t ‘need’ any more to add to it.
This was the duo I would have bought if it had been at least OK good, now it’s such an easy pass. It’s a pity as I would have had a lot of use for both sides of the pencil.
