MAC Ripe Peach Blush Ombre Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Ripe Peach Blush Ombre
MAC Ripe Peach Blush Ombre ($32.00 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “light coral.” It’s a peachy-orange with subtle reddish tones and a golden shimmer. In the pan, there’s definitely a more coral-pink coloring, but it didn’t seem to translate as much applied to the skin (even when I concentrated my brush there). Too Faced Luminous Peach (LE) is more shimmery. YSL Rebelle (7) (P, $47.00) is more orange. MAC Love & Laughter (LE, $21.00) is pinker. Makeup Geek Bliss (P, $9.99) is slightly pinker, lighter. Tarte Darling (LE, $26.00) is darker. NARS Soulshine #2 (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, darker. NARS Gina (P, $29.00) is darker. MAC Barefaced (LE, $21.00) is darker, browner. MAC Warmth of Coral (LE, $27.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It fairly good color payoff that was buildable from good to full if desired in two to three layers. The texture was soft, smooth, though thin, but more forgiving than Kindergarten Red. It had a soft sheen when buffed and blended on the skin, which didn’t emphasize pores and gave the skin a nice level of luminosity. The blush was blendable, easy to work with, and lasted for eight hours on me. It looks similar (in composition to the Ripe Peach I have from years ago when I compare pans, but the one I have from this collection is a lot more orange/peach when swatched; it may be similar to Mineralize Skinfinishes where your mileage may vary depending on how much pink (or peach) the individual pan has. I’m not entirely sure on that, but the resulting color between the two I have aren’t quite the same. It also seemed less shimmery, and the peach/orange portion seemed brighter (more orange than peach). This version contains more product (0.35 oz. as compared to 0.31 oz.), but since it’s been four years, it is more expensive ($32 as compared to $25).

Reminds me a lot of this blush Essence came out with! The colour is totally different, of course. I love this one, it’s one of those few true peach shades.
Did Essence come out with it after MAC or vice versa?
I believe the Essence one has been out for a good while now!
MAC originally released Ripe Peach back in 2010, that’s why I was curious 🙂
Yeah, Essence one came after the first release of Ripe Peach, I own the essence one but I’ve been waiting for this moment for 5 years. I’m so excited! 😀
Hi Christine!
I think essence launched later.
Anyway the dupe is part of the permanent line and they also have a pink version; so you can easily find it here in europe at any store that stocks the brand (just passed by it this weekend)
Here’s the link: http://www.essence.eu/products/face/blush/e/product/blush-up-powder-blush-20/
I have the MAC version and have swatched the essence version and though there is a slight diference I would say the essence blush more than compensates since the price – quality is very very good. My opinion is that is you can buy the essence one you can easily skip this 🙂
many thanks for the outstanding years of labour! love your site and I stalk it daily! You are the best 😀
Thanks for this information! I’ve been wanting an ombre blush in, like, forever, and don’t mind any brand. So might go with Essence rather than MAC for now….
After Mac, i’m pretty sure.. It’s not too bad either.
Essence came out with it after, I own it because my ripe peach crumbled and I was dying for something similar, I actually think it’s much closer in colour than the Estee Lauder Peach Nuance or Witty Peach. And much cheaper 😉
so excited for this release, dying to get my hands on it again!!!
Essence was first! 🙂 I have the same blush, it was a limited edition collection I think.
Lst year Essence came out with two, one for Eurpue and one for noth america. The Euroupe one it closer but more bright then Ripe Peach called Miami Roller Grils and Blush Up! in 10 Heat Wave, they are the same product different packaging. The Blush Up! one’s are permament to Europe but not North America yet.
They also put out a deep pink to coral ombre in 01 I (Heart icon) Summer Break in North America but it’s also limited edition.
Cool! Love the idea of ombre blushes. I’m always mixing orange and pink ones so at first this looked like my dream, but I see it’s pulling pretty orange even when mixed 🙁
Is this a dupe for Illamasqua Lover, do you think?
http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=104652&dupe=102049
Somewhat – the big difference is Lover is totally matte and going to appear brighter on, since it is a little darker 🙂
Well this was my deciding factor! I have Illamasqua’s Lover… So I will resist! Haha 😀
You’re right, thank you! I love makeup but I don’t have a very good eye for colours unfortunately, lol!
This is so pretty!
Glad ya liked it!
I love how the lipgloss and blush pair! Very spring appropriate! 🙂
Yay! 🙂
I really like this. The packaging and ombre look really cool, the swatch looks nice, and it looks great on you! But… considering the price point I would rather have MUG Bliss or Smitten.
Both are great blushes 😀
It looks so pretty in the pan. I do like it on the skin, too. The packaging is pure awesome.
I must be in the minority, haha! I didn’t like the packaging at all. The design is cool, but it feels cheap to me in a way? maybe it’s the matte white.
oops, christine! you misspelled peachy! i might snag this one or azalea blossom, the blush ombres are too pretty! they’re sheer but i like that for spring
Sorry! I fixed it. Sorry again!
I’m wondering if these will be available at Nordstrom? Sooooo pretty!
MAC said all locations!
Yay I am sooo glad! Thanks for replying!!
It looks VERY pretty on your cheeks and goes well with the BBQ lipglass. I guess the “ombre” is for looks only, because the you can’t get the pink color to show up 🙁 For $32, I was hoping you could get a peach and a pink, with the option to mix the two, but it looks all peach. And over 4 years, the product amount went up slightly, but the price went from $25 to $32? That’s almost a 30% increase, wish my salary did the same….
It’s coming through to a degree, because I think it is playing down the orange, but it’s definitely weaker (possibly less than half of my pan).
It probably has to do with the collaboration. I’m quite certain the designers MAC teams up with, as well as the celebrities (with the exception of Viva Glam), get paid a nifty fee. More “expensive” brands tend to keep prices nearly the same, but since MAC is relatively inexpensive, they have to make it up somewhere.
Personally, if I can’t afford the clothes from a given designer, I don’t see the point in getting excited about the makeup collaboration… I also noticed many comments about having to Google these designers, myself included, which tells me they haven’t reached “household name” status, and one would think they’d do this primarily for the publicity…
I know this is going to sell out fast, which is a shame, because it’s beautiful. hopefully i can get my hands on it!
Awww!
How does the Ombre Peach blush compare to the Proenza Schouler Ocean City Ombre blush?
Ocean City is a dark orange-red. http://www.temptalia.com/mac-ocean-city-blush-ombre-review-photos-swatches
I’ve been waiting YEARS for this to be re-promoted. I’m very excited!!!
Yay!
Hi Christine, will you review the azalea blossom? I had that one frm 2011 and I hit pan. If it is similar to the 2011 collection, I might pick up both. But then again, with these 2 combined, I can pick up Tom Ford Love Lust instead. Decision, decision!
Sorry, I don’t have it. I hope to buy the other shades I don’t have, but I’m not able to do so until it releases.
I lusted after Ripe Peach when it came out in 2010 only because it looked so beautiful in the pan! It was even a little too much on the orange side for me then, though. This swatch looks lighter than your original swatch for Ripe Peach, but I suppose your camera and lighting have probably changed a bit in 4+ years. I already have Ripe for Love from summer 2013, but this one looks more yellow-orange and less red? If more of the pink came through, I’d have snapped this up for sure. Oh well.
Hi Clio,
I mentioned how this version differs from my original in the second paragraph 🙂
When I saw this in the press release, I was all !!!!!! because I have Azalea Blossom and wear the crap out of it, and orange/coral blushes are my fave. Then I saw the sneak peek and decided it looked a little lighter and powdery and I didn’t need it. But then I saw it on your face and I’m back to !!!!! 😀 Hopefully it doesn’t sell out before I can snag it!!
lol!
I think I will pick it up since it does get a B+ from you and it’s been almost a full year since my last purchase of any blush. With MAC, I have to say my last blush from them can be dated back to 4 years ago! Ombre blush? I have never owned one yet.
Enjoy, Fuji! 🙂
It’s pretty but once again I’m not wowed by it.
It’s decent but not as impressive the second time around. Formulas across brands have really improved. MAC’s own PLW blushes are way, way better.
The swatch looks different than the initial release.
Yes, I mentioned that in the review!
This is really pretty. I truly do not think I have any blushes similiar to this..certainly no ombre. I am going to put it on my radar. But , my blush wants list is long and hefty with Chanel and Tom Ford. With this being a LE and a B+ and $35, I may just opt for the MUG dupe. Thanks for the review! Looks so pretty on you Christine as always..seriously, I don’t thin I have EVER seen anything look bad on you!
correction* $32
I like MUG’s formula better 🙂
Thanks for the honest reply. I have also been wanting to give Clinique’s pop blushers a try. They are so cute and I noticed you listed them in the best of ‘high-end blushes of 2014. Good price too and permanent. Where do the peach pop stand ? I want to try both eventually. but I need to prioritize.
I love all of the Clinique Cheek Pops! They’re amazing 😀
Yeah it seems like Clinique is making some headway finally. I have a very close friend who is a big wig in the sales side for Clinique. I hate to ask her for product though. Every once in a while, she’ll bring a bunch a untouched goodies to our girl get togethers. It used to be , no one really wanted anything and I’d scoop up a gloss to give to my daughter,lol..Now we are jumping over each other for some things. Their shadow though..ugh. Thanks for your input! Geez..I don’t know howyou are keeing up with all these comments on top of all the spring stuff! Every day, i am like” OMG..more! I am going to be broke..better learn to thrift shop for clothes, lol”
I think I am loving this blush. I missed out the first time around.
Hope you can get it this time!
This looks like a pretty everyday blush. I can’t wait to try it
Hope you love it, Fancie! 🙂
Wow!!!
My favorite blush in the world is back!!
🙂
Yay!!
Looks very pretty on you!
Thanks, Karen! 🙂
That’s really pretty. I don’t think I have anything like it!
Awesome 😀
This looks really lovely on you too. Hmm – is it too orangey for cooler toned complexions? I think it is gorgeous though.
I don’t think so – there’s enough in it, I think, and the base isn’t reddish.
I want this just because it looks like a beautiful sunset.
It is pretty in the pan!
Hm, the packaging is cool, but I think this leans too far in the ‘creamsicle orange’ direction (somehow?!) for me. I keep telling myself ‘but you like Peach Pop so much – that’s peach/orange, right?!’ but then I look at it and it’s actually well on the pink side of peach on me, LOL!
Orange: a colour I am simultaneously attracted to (I wear a lot of blue), and repelled by. #rogueproblems 😀
Honestly, the formula on the Cheek Pops is way better, though.
It’s sooo pretty! We’re about the same skintone, at first I thought it would be too orange for me, but I realized it would be an awesome flush of “Natural” radiance or glow! Will definitely get this! I hope you have swatches of all the lipsticks in the collection, I will get Victoriana, but maybe I might change my mind not unless I see your reviews! 🙂
Sorry, I only received one of the lipsticks. I’ll try to buy the rest when they launch, but I can’t guarantee it since they may sell out.
Omg!!! This is the on the top of my list of items I missed out!!! I’ve frequently bid on it on eBay, but never own and never wanted to pay more than $50!!! Is it the same as the original release?
Hi Lizzi!
Check the second paragraph – I compared it to my original Ripe Peach!
Whoops! Sorry I was oblivious.
Pretty but quite dupeable. Though 10 grams is a lot, I know this will be quite expensive in canadian dollars. Just curious, will you be getting the azalea blossom blush to review?
Sorry, I don’t have it! I will certainly try my best to purchase, but I can’t guarantee that I’ll be able to do so before it sells out, etc.
Thanks for sharing Christine! I have the older version of this blush that they have launched years ago… Do you think I should get this one too? I know it contains more product but the packaging looks better than the “older mineralized” packaged one.
I don’t think these are that great as far as blushes go, so I wouldn’t buy any myself. I would rather get one of MAC’s new Pro Longwear Blushes.
I was super excited about this shade being back around, but it’s a little dupeable now with all the brands coming out with these ombre-style blushes!
True!
I love the look of ombre blushes but with the inflated $32 price point, I need at least an A- to be tempted.
I wasn’t terribly impressed!
Are these the same from the Spring Color Forecast collection in 2010?
Check the second paragraph – I compared it to my original Ripe Peach!
How does it compare to Illamasqua Lover?
Lover is brighter, darker, and matte.
This is gorgeous on you!
Thanks, Kim!
I like it! I like the gradient effect and I love the peachy shade a lot.
Woohoo!
Hi Christine!
Do you think that both blushes would be visible on a darker skin tone, say Mac 40-44? I really want the blushes coz they look gorgeous but I’ll be wasting money if these don’t show up
A little bit but they’ll be subtle, IMO.
I was super excited about this blush being re-released because I missed out the first time around. Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the original at all (to me at least), a common problem with MAC’s repromotes (*curses*, lol). The closest thing I have is Estee Lauder Peach Nuance. But the original Ripe Peach is way prettier!
BOOO! 🙁
This is awesome. I’ve been searching for this particular shade of peach for a while now and I’ve resolved to buy it on the 29th with the online release.
I’ve never done a mad scramble for a particular makeup item; any advice in terms of where to buy, and how to best ensure I can order this blush on opening day?
I really love this blush shade, but not too sure how well it would translate on my C4.5 (wintertime) – NC 37-40 (late spring thru late autumn) complexion?
It’ll be subtle :/
doesn’t benefit has a similar one already? i think i’ve seen this ombre blush from somewhere else~ i can’t remember where!
Any chance this compares to MAC Peaches blush? I have Peaches, but not actually in front of me to look at as I’m typing this.
Peaches is lighter! 🙂
Being waiting for this blush to be re released!…but I hate the packaging :,(
I’m a sucker for peach and coral blushes! But, this one looks a bit similar to Cream Soda from the Archie’s Collection. Is it? (fingers crossed that it’s not 🙂 )
Awfully tempting. But I’ll tell myself that Illamasqua’s Lover is close enough. Or just get Rebelle lol
Thanks for the review, Christine!! What foundation/shade are you wearing here? I love it!
Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation, I mix 2 and 3.
Hi Christine, I have a question for you. I have been having difficulty getting this blush onto my blush brush, and applying it to my checks. I’ve been using my real techniques blush brush, the original, and it really doesn’t seem to pick anything up from the pan, or apply anything to my cheeks. I even scratched the surface of the powder to see if anything would come off. It did scratch product up. The surface just seems so hard. I’m just wondering if I’m doing something wrong, or not using the right brush? Thank you.
Hey Karen!
Yours could just be bad, because frankly, if your normal brushes aren’t working, it’s not you, it’s the product!
OMG I though it was just me. Mine barely grabs anything! It has the most weird texture, very waxy. I scraped some off, didn’t make a diff. WTH. At $32, I shouldn’t have to scrape in the first place.
I’m shocked that all of these blushes in this collection didn’t get a big fat F because when I swatched them in-store, they were worse-than-the-worst cheap, dollar store blushes made in China. I’m not kidding. They were bloody appalling! I actually left MAC laughing my arse off after the sales woman ridiculously said ‘I think that they were meant to be a wash of color’ and walked straight to Chanel, immediately across from the MAC counter, and purchased several products there. ‘Wash of color?’ Or did she mean ‘washed out of all possible color’? That was the equivalent of ‘I think they were meant to suck’!LOL
I purchased it without swatching it in the store (don’t have one in my area) and I’m so disappointed!
Since the online store here in Germany has a no return policy with used products I can’t even give it back :/ it’s such a crappy quality, I can’t believe Mac is selling this and I wonder how this got out of quality control.
I’m also using a Real Techniques Blush Brush and it does not pick up a single pigment. None.
To “save” the blush, I have to scrape of the layers with (haha) a dry, old toothbrush. I will take this as a lesson and consider my money wasted on this beautiful looking but useless blush.
If you have any natural fiber hairs, you may get better results – synthetic brushes aren’t always the best for powders unfortunately 🙁 (One day, they will be just as good, though!)
Other suggestion is to turn it into a loose blush if you really hate it but want to use it.
