MAC Raspberry Swirl Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Raspberry Swirl Lipstick ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “light white blue pink [with a Cremesheen finish].” It’s a cool-toned, light-medium blue-based pink with a soft sheen. OCC Digitalis is lighter, bluer. MAC Snob is slightly darker/grayer. MAC Saint Germain is a touch purpler. MAC Pink Nouveau is brighter, pinker. MAC Naughty Saute is brighter, pinker, glossier. MAC All Styled Up is slightly pinker.

It has mostly opaque color coverage, and the consistency was creamy enough that the lipstick glided across the lips without pulling or tugging but not so creamy that it felt thick or was prone to creating lines of demarcation once applied.  Raspberry Swirl lasted four hours on me, and it was neither drying nor hydrating (but this is an improvement, as many Cremesheens are a bit drying on me).  It definitely felt creamier than other Cremesheens I’ve tried.  I noticed that this color did pull the yellow out of my teeth, which this kind of color can sometimes do.  I think that MAC does this color quite a bit, some are closer to this than others, but there are many variations of it and most of them are by MAC.

When I first saw pictures of this lipstick, I was very excited. But now this is a disappointment. This is what I call “porn-pink” and I just don’t like it. I was hoping it would look more like Real Doll.

If you were to choose one of these near-duplicate pinks based on its formula, which would it be? MAC’s ‘Snob’ has an unappealingly cakey texture on my lips.

I really like this color, I thought it would be warmer just looking at it in the tube but on you it pulls much cooler. Lipsticks like these make my teeth look yellow too, not sexy :-/ I have saint germain & digitalis & snob so I can probably skip this one…

I wonder if MAC does this color a lot, because of the popularity of Saint Germain & Pink Nouveau. As well as it is a color that seems to be one of the colors you think of when you think of MAC lipsticks.

It certainly isn’t the most wearable pink. I don’t like pinks that are really cool toned. I think this appeals to a younger target audience and suits maybe med/darker skin tones. However like Myth most young girls wear it. It may not be the best color, but didn’t we all try funky make up when we were a teen/young adult?

IDK I’d rather see them work on less concealer nudes and cool toned blues for a long while. They have popular ones in the permanent line… and with past and present recent viva glam lip products.. I’d like to see them perfect more sophisticated colors.. But then again it wouldn’t be MAC. IDK

I must admit: I’m a complete sucker for the MAC pinks! I wouldn’t necessarily sport this shade alone but it does work well over a fuschia liner or lipstick. I like to layer it over MAC’s lipstick in the shade, Silly (for a totally bubble-gum-like look). And yes, (*blush*) I’ll be lining up when MAC announces the release of yet another shade of pink…:-)
