MAC Quartzette, Pink Pearl, Softly Rockin' Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Quartzette
MAC Quartzette Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium brown with warm, rosy undertones and a golden pearl. It had good color coverage–just shy of truly opaque coverage–in one layer. The texture was smooth, lightweight without being too watery or too runny, but it went on thinly and evenly so it did not flake off as it wore away. This shade lasted well for seven hours on me and was slightly drying over time.

Formula Overview
$21.00/0.17 oz. - $123.53 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "pure matte metallic colour" that "lasts and lasts" for eight hours. Most of the shades were quite pigmented--semi-opaque to opaque--and applied evenly, though there were a few misses that had more watery textures that either lacked in pigmentation or went on patchily. I'd say about half the range felt non-drying over time but some were noticeably drying. They were vanilla-scented but had no discernible taste.

Pearl Punk
MAC Pink Pearl Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium pink with strong, warm undertones and a pearly sheen over a matte finish. It had finer pearl compared to most of the other shades in the range, so it did not reflect light as strongly but seemed to be more forgiving of my lip texture. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and spreadable without being too thick or too thin, so it dried down fast enough not to settle into my lip lines but not so fast that I couldn’t get it applied easily. The color lasted for six and a half hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Softly Rockin'
MAC Softly Rockin’ Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour Metallic ($21.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium peach coral with warm undertones and a barely-there shimmer over a matte finish. It had slightly larger sparkle and then finer pearl but did not seem to have as much shimmer overall compared to most of the other shades in the line-up. The texture was lightweight, smooth, and a little mousse-like as it wasn’t runny but still spreadable and didn’t apply thickly either. Unfortunately, it had semi-opaque coverage and did not go on as evenly as other shades in the range. It stayed on well for five and a half hours on me and was non-drying.

Your makeup is stunning in these photos, so flattering! Love it, looks great on you, Christine.
Christine, this makeup look, especially the eyes, is my dream look. I know itās not really your thing, but I would love a bit of a play-by-play!
Quartzette appears far more complex and interesting a shade than I had previously assumed! I really love that one! The 2nd shade is also quite pretty, especially for spring!
Love the shades, that’s how you make an elegant metallic lipstick!
These lip glosses seem to dry down to a matte like finish, which could be either off putting or not – depending on how you like your finish to be. The shades are quite wearable colours.
I like the “something extra” the shimmer gives Quartzette.
Iām not really one for matte liquid lips but Quartzette looks so pretty I might have to pick it up.
Christine you look SO pretty in all of these!
I’m very torn. My prior experience with metallic liquid lipsticks has been terrible – they just look awful on me. But several of the colors from this line are so tempting I might have to give ’em a go again!
I ordered Pearl Punk and Metallic Rose. I really loved the look of Softly Rockin’, but your sneak peek swatches made me decide against it–based on the photo, and that I likely have 10 shades similar (including Namaste and Naked Dolly) š
What can I say, I’m a creature of habit.
Glad I didn’t order it after all.
I LOVE quartzette but it’s not launched in the UK with the others!
