MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme Review, Photos, Swatches (Part 2)

MAC Pro Longwear Lipcreme: Part 2

Here’s part two!  Next up, a preliminary overview of the texture/feel and recommendations.

  • Overtime is a pale light-medium pink with subtle yellow undertones. It seems like a (just barely) lighter version of Creme Cup, paler version of Angel, and pinker version of Hue. I felt like this one didn’t flatter lips as much as others — it kind of looked drying, even though it didn’t feel that way.  This is a cream finish.
  • Perpetual Flame is a rich, fuchsia raspberry. The closest permanent shade would be Impassioned (without the iridescent fuchsia sheen), but it’s not too similar.  This is a cream finish.
  • Prolong is a bright, cherry-ish kind of red with slight blue undertones. It’s brighter and not as ruby red as Extended Play. Seems a bit lighter than Russian Red and has a slightly frost sheen, also similar to Ruby Woo but with weaker blue undertones. This is a cream finish.
  • Sweet Ever After is peach-brown with lighter peach micro-shimmer.  Darker, browner version of Honeyflower, less coral Jist. This is a frost finish.
  • Till Tomorrow is a muted, dark pinky-nude. Kind of like a darker, slightly muted Modesty.
  • Unlimited is a medium pink with subtly cool undertones, but it doesn’t lean too blue at all. It’s a darker version of Chatterbox. This is a cream finish.

Why is it that nearly EVERY lip color you put on looks absolutely GORGEOUS on you? I’m SO jealous of your LIPS! And your brows! I have become very adept at shading in eyebrows such that it looks like I have more than 3 on each side (not really, but it feels that way sometimes).

I ordered three of these: Unlimited, Until Tomorrow and Made to Last. While I wish that I had a free standing MAC store in NE, I love not having to pay tax. I cannot tell you the hundreds of $$ I’ve saved in taxes as I’ve built an enormous collection over the past year. 😀

Anyway, thanks — once again — for taking time out of your inordinately busy schedule to keep us up to date.

Pfft! LOL! If there’s one thing I will probably do forever, even if I somehow fall out of beauty addict-dom, it will be brows!

Thank you!

LOVE Sweet Everafter, Till tomorrow, and Unlimited from this batch (plus at least 4 of the other batch.) I am screwed in terms of $$! Maybe your review of the formula will kill the craving a bit – at least whittle the drive down to a purchase of 1 or 2… eeeks!

Wow, I love Sweet Ever After, Till Tomorrow (reminds me of EL Dune Rose though, so I probably don’t need it as well, even if I ADORE rosy nudes like this) and Unlimited is lovely too!

Perpetual Flame reminds me a bit of the Laura Mercia Hydrangea lip colour from your Summer Season, though this is maybe slightly redder and not so sheer. Gorgeous!

Uh, Prolong looks good here, also liking Perpetual Flame – thanks for the great pics!

(Your face pics are also really helpful – esp for me because I have a similar teint and am also dark-haired and brown-eyed…so if a lip colour suits you, it is likely to suit me as well 8D – so handy!!)

$16! I also mentioned I will be reviewing these on formula, wear, etc. once I have had a chance to wear them for an appropriate length of time – so just give me a little more time. Thanks!

Perpetual Flame is very pink in comparision, while Prolong is brighter, redder with less blue in its base. I wouldn’t say either of those are dupes.

I had a chance to try these and looooved how long they lasted and how they felt…hated the color I tested out though (overtime). I think I’ll end up with ’till tomorrow’ and ‘perpetual flame’

wow out of part two, I loved ALL of them but two. I am a sucker for pinks. Are these permanent?? (I don’t have a pro card, but will they be available on the regular website?)

Hi christine I hope this is not too much trouble and thanks again for doing this…I was wondering if Unlimited was in any way similar to “Intimidate” slimshine ( I REALLY WANT TO REPLACE IT but it’s d/c 🙁
) so I was wondering if the two are similar…Thank you

i was wondering if you thought unlimited, till tomorrow, and sweet ever after would look god on me i am nw 20 i think, whatever one means i have bluish undertones

Sorry if I’ve missed this along the way but… are these products a limited time only thing? Or are they going to be standard? (Reason asking is because i’m laughably broke right now and probably wont have $ ’til Xmas)

They’re listed as permanent on maccosmetics.com, but all of the information I’ve seen since it initially started leaking out was that everything is permanent – same thing said by several artists.

Hi Christine,

I just chatted with MAC rep online and her response to my question if the Lipcreme’s can be back 2 MAC:

“No, you can recycle the empty Prolongwear Lipcreme packages themselves, but you can not get them for Back 2 MAC”.

Hope this helps!

I’m definitely going to get Til Tomorrow when this is released in the UK, as I find most nudey shades are too pink for my skintone.

However I am quite shocked that in the original press release MAC describe the colour as ‘Grey mauve brown (Cream)’, seriously how wrong is that?!

I don’t like the packaging, reminds me of stick foundation, and the tops of lipstick look sawed off not smooth or bullet like… does that make sense haha. I love when lipstick is new and smooth looking. the colors are great though. Till tomorrow is pretty, classy looking.

Christine your gorgeous , these shades look great on you ! Which of these colors : Till tomorrow, Unlimited and sweet ever after would suit tan skin the most in your opinion ?

I’ve been searching for the perfect nude baby pink, would you recommend overtime? Or which other mac lipsticks would be a good option..? Since my lips are much darker pigmented than yours (medium pigmented, probably?) I don’t know if “Angel” would even cover with a light or pale look. :/

Nude baby pink, nah. It’s pretty much just pink. I might say something like Honeylove or Velvet Teddy – maybe blotted or sheered – because it would almost neutralize your lip color and not be too nude. I’d worry that any “nude baby pink” on its own might just turn out pink if you have pigmented lips.

Do you think Sweet Ever After is anything like the Bare slimshine that was discontinued? If it isn’t, do you have any suggestions? I’m looking for a good MAC dupe for it, thanks!!

Colors are really beautiful.. but they look darker on me! Perpetual flame it’s like my old “hold on” Rimmel infinite colour (I like it anyway )

Your swatches are awesome.I have one question if you don’t mind me asking what camera do you use to take these pictures.I am looking for a good camera too take pics with and yours look amazing.

Hi there! What a wonderful website you have! I was wondering if I may borrow some of your pictures for my blog? I’m from Sweden, and yet I havn’t seen any swatches from swedish blogs. It would be great if I could borrow these to show all the sweeds this swatches. I would link to this post och give you all the cred, ofcourse. Carry on the good work! =)

I must say that since I saw Till Tomorrow on you I got obsessed about it! Now that I finnaly bought it, surprise surprise: It gets brown on my lips! Really! I don’t know what happens because my skin tone are just like yours! Now I’m mixing Till Tomorrow with Captive to get a little close to rosy brown. But still… I wanted the color on the swatch SO BAD!

I fell in love with Till Tomorrow’s swatch and bought it recently. But on my lips it’s more brown than that gorgeous pinky-mauve I thought it would be… saddening!
