MAC Overdyed Blush
MAC Jeanius: Overdyed
MAC Overdyed Blush ($19.50 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “bright magenta” and has a satin finish. It actually seems more like a muted magenta to me–it’s by no means dull, but it’s not in-your-face magenta, either. There are cool undertones running through it, but it is not as strong of a blue base as some other magenta shades. When I wore it, it looked almost like a plummed magenta on my cheeks. Overdyed as nicely pigmented, easy to blend, and wore all day for me.

final thoughts: This has to be one of the more wearable shades of magenta I’ve seen. Â For that reason, I think this shade will appeal to a lot of people. Â The pigmentation makes it suitable for darker skin tones, while the subtle cool undertones make it wearable for warmer skin tones, too!

It looks very similar to Her Blooming Cheek.
Less red, less bright.
Oh Ok. Thank you! Then this might be the one thing I purchase from this collection. I love bring pink blush. 🙂
Would you say it’s a slightly more purple version of the larger side of the recently released Amazon Princess from the Wonder Woman collection?
Please see the FAQ – I specifically mentioned this product.
Did they do another price increase? I thought they were $18.50 before
My bad! Got confused with the blushcreme price
No, you’re right! They were $18.50 before. Grr!
Ohhhhhh whyyyy! This collection was a complete pass until I saw this. Booooo! lol, it looks so lovely!
How does that blush compare to Her Blooming Cheek from the Tartan Tale collection?
Thanks.
Less bright, less red.
Do you think this would look too much on really pale skin?
Sure!
Christine, do you know how Overdyed compares to Fashion Frenzy from the MAC Fafi collection?
Fashion Frenzy is lighter and pinker – less magenta.
Thanks very much Christine. You rock!
does it compare to dolly mix?
Dollymix is pink, not magenta 🙂
Oh darn, I think I want this.
I would love to see this swatched next to coygirl
For darker skin tones this will be beautiful! I am very pale so this would just overpower me.
It reminds me of NARS – Desire in a way.
Actually I take that back, Desire is WAAAAY more pink.
yes! looks pretty like Nars Desire
Ordered this from my awesome MA at Hillsdale’s MAC store. Got both blushes. Because I need more…yep!
Pretty! Bright blushes are in for spring, so why not?
<3
Okay – may need to check this out, too, in addition to the lippies!
how about that blush from hk collection? i forgot what its called i have it here somewhere
Tippy is a lot lighter!
If I didn’t have the Magenta Madness creme base already I would score this blush. I love Magenta!
I want this so much it hurts!
Is this anything like Nars Mata Hari?
No, Mata Hari is lighter and more blue-based.
Ooh! I love the tone of this blusher 🙂 Thanks for the swatches and review, Christine!
I like the color of this in the pan, but I’m not so sure it would be so pretty on me… It reminds me a bit of Stila’s universal blush color thing. I forget what they call it, but the color looks similar.
guess what im getting? 😉
is this similar to sweetness?
Sweetness is far too blue-based and lighter – http://www.temptalia.com/mac-cosmetics-beauty-powder-blushes-review-photos-and-swatches
This, to me, looks like a more intense version of Illamasqua’s Unrequited, which I love 🙂
I love the brightness of this blush but I already have Her Blooming Cheek and, to be honest, I can’t see myself every using it up (I’m in my 50’s….I’d have to live to 100 to use up Her Blooming Cheek). So I will try really hard not to buy this one.
It’s in stock at all Mac Pro Store beginning Feb 24th, that’s where Temptalia probably bought her collection.
ohhh, I think I like this much more than Pink Cult.
Overdyed reminds me of Stila’s custom colour blush, at least by the swatch on your arm. I don’t have a lot of blushes but mine are all in the blue-based pink family simply because it’s the most flattering on me. This might be the one product out of the collection that would tempt me to break my no-buy (especially since I’d need to use very little of it!)…
Very pretty! I’m glad that this fuschia is on the more muted side, just because to use this color I personally want it more foolproof haha I’m so heavy-handed !
I see this being really pretty on Nw45 skin like mine. Want.
I have Tippy from the HK collection. How do they compare, colorwise?
Tippy is a lot lighter – not anywhere near as fuchsia!
Hi Christine! I’m sorry, i know you have adressed this on the faq, but i’m not really sure what magenta means… Being “less Magenta” than Amazon Princess is like being less blue based or less warm based? Or maybe is something else? I always thought magenta was the same as hot pink…but not I think i’m may be wrong…
Magenta is more purpled! Hot pink is just that – bright pink, but magenta tends to be a little purple.
Thank you so much for your answer, it really helped me – i’m gonna get amazon princess instead of overdyed 🙂 oh, and sorry about the typos 😛
Will you recommend the amazon princess or overdyed for an NW47 skin? I know you said both are good but i am torn between these too. Consider the price, size and versatility i guess.
Amazon Princess is more versatile!
is there something close to the color from Nars or Chanel? Mac blushes break me out
NARS Desire would be the closest!
Hi, can you tell me if this blush would match with MAC’s Pink Nouvea lipstick?….I have been look for a pink blush that is the same tone of pink as that lipstick!
Kind of but Pink Swoon would match it better.
I bought this today…I’m very pale and as long as i use it sheer, it looks great! great colour.
Hi Christine, I love your site and check it daily!!
Anyway, I bought this blush and have no idea what lips to pair it with. Do you have any suggestions? My lipstick collection is extremely limited mostly with light pinks and corals.
Light pinks would work beautifully! Light pinks, lilacs, or plums 🙂
