MAC A Novel Romance Eyeshadow Quad ($40.00 for 0.19 oz.) is a mix of cool neutrals ranging from a green-gold to a dark brown. This quad was more consistent in quality across the board with most shades being decent to good. For those who often find warmer-toned neutrals to be difficult to work with, you may enjoy these murkier, more subdued ones. It will launch with the rest of the collection on August 14th online, August 21st in-stores.

My Fantasy is described as a “pale neutral olive [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a light-medium, green-tinged gold with a frosted sheen. It had good pigmentation that applied smoothly and evenly. The color wore well for eight hours before fading slightly. bareMinerals Golden Coast (LE) is darker, warmer. MAC Rose Blend #3 (LE) is similar. MAC Golden Hours #3 (LE, $21.00) is lighter. Tarina Tarantino Secret Pond (LE) is darker. Chanel Convoitise (90) (LE, $36.00) is a cream product, lighter. Urban Decay Blitz (LE, $18.00) is darker. bareMinerals Standing O (P) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Fall in Lust is described as a “mid-tone cool grey mauve [with a Frost finish].” It’s a cool-toned, taupe with a gray leaning and a soft, frosted finish. This shade had good color payoff, and the texture was blendable but a little powdery. I didn’t notice any fading until after eight and a half hours of wear. Chanel Tisse Gabrielle #3 (P) is darker, more shimmery. Laura Mercier Sable (P, $22.00) is warmer, less shimmery. MAC Phresh Out #4 (LE) is more shimmery. Urban Decay Bust (P, $18.00) is slightly cooler-toned. NARS Lhasa (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler-toned. MAC Romance Me (LE, $15.00) is warmer. MAC Twilight Falls (LE, $21.00) is darker. See comparison swatches/ view dupes.

Dance in the Dark is described as a “deep blackened brown [with a Matte finish].” It’s a cool-toned, dark brown with a matte finish. It had fairly good pigmentation, and the texture was a little dry and thin but not too difficult to work with. It wore well for eight hours before fading. This is a repromote. Chanel Charming #5 (LE) is slightly warmer.MAC Midnight Flurry (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Showstopper (LE, $15.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Rising Passions is described as a “greenish charcoal with gold pearl [with a Velvet finish].” It’s a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and an olive gold shimmer. It had good pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly. The consistency was soft but not powdery, and it lasted for just over eight hours before showing a bit of creasing. MAC Collective Chic #3 (LE) is darker. Too Faced Leopard (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer (more similar in the pan than swatched). MAC Well Put Together (LE, $15.00) is warmer. NARS Mekong (P, $24.00) See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Hmmm if I were to get any of the 3 rthis would be it, but I still think the Makeup Forever Artist Palette is the better choice for me. Might change my mind once I see this in person though.

I have to say it’s absolutely refreshing to see MAC put out good quality palettes across the collection! I still find them to be a bit pricey for what you get, but at least the quality is there. Crossing fingers they can keep it up.

I like the overalll look of this quad (and I’m glad that these ones are performing better than many of MAC’s recent eyeshadow offerings!), but I think it’s a pretty dupable palette colourwise. That’s not necessarily a criticism, as it looks like a perfectly nice, wearable palette that would be good for travel.

I already have Showstopper, Lhasa and Mekong, so I guess I’m not in need of this palette, but the gold-ish one looks SO pretty… I’m still skipping this, though. Too bad.

This is also a nice palette, I like the other two better, though. I still would love to have My Fantasy and Fall In Lust from this.
I’m surprised and glad MAC finally got LE palettes right after so many less good ones.
