MAC Ionized Iris Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Ionized Iris
MAC Ionized Iris Lipstick ($17.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a bright, medium fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a mix of finer pink shimmer and larger fuchsia sparkle. The consistency was fairly smooth–though I could feel some of the shimmer/sparkle in it as I glided it across my lips–and had some slip but did not feel slippery on the lips. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation that applied evenly onto my lips and sat well on them without getting into my lip lines. The color lasted well for four hours on me and was lightly hydrating.
This shade, along with six other new shades, will launch on June 22nd online and in stores/at counters.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.
Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.
The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

This is so pretty! It’s close enough to Big Bang that I’m going to skip, though.
It’s very close to that – I’d skip, too!
Love it! Bright, metallic and freezing haute! Y’know I may just have to get this one, even though I promised myself to only buy special edition packaged or VG MAC here on in….but this will be very hard to resist!
How long is your low-buy on MAC lipsticks for, Nancy?
Meant to answer this question way sooner! My plan is to try and wait until I’ve used up at least half of 4-5 of my MAC lipsticks before buying any more permanent or basic packaging lipsticks. Only exception would be if it were to be very unique and with at least an A grade. This only due to realizing that they do go rancid over time and I have far more lipsticks than any sane person ought to have if one is not a blogger/vlogger or pro MUA!
So bright and pretty! Obviously I love this color because I have 3 of the dupes. MAC’s Pink Poodle lip stick is the one that got away, lol. Limited edition, I wanted that lip stick in the worst way but missed it. MAC never brought it back.
It’s pretty! I didn’t think it was going to be so pink. Somehow “iris” made me think purple!
“Iris” always make me think purple, too.
Pretty in pink!
I really like cool pinks, add shimmer ank sparkle and I’ll almost run to the counter, not that these are anywhere near my shores yet, but when they come I’ll be there. That is if I remember I liked a lot of these lipsticks.
It’s hard to keep track of all the new releases!
I feel like these new metallic ones coming out are just subtle tweaks on shades that MAC already has in it’s permanent collection
Some of them are closer for sure, though I think some are different!
Love this color! It’s so gorgeous! I might “need” it for the summer!
Let us know if you end up trying it, Priscila! xo
love this color! must have.
