MAC In the Groove Collection: Cremesheen Glasses

In the Groove launches on the 8th, and it contains six new and limited edition shades of Cremesheen Glass–a thin, non-sticky, sheer gloss.   They coordinate rather obviously with the majority of the lipsticks, with the exception of Chillin’ which doesn’t quite align with any of the lipsticks from this launch.

  • You’ve Got It is a subtle grayish brown with multicolored shimmer, predominantly white, though. It has that same mushroom-y look as Call My Bluff lipstick, so it would pair well with that. It would also wash out any of the other brighter shades a bit, too. It’s like a lighter, non-sticky version of Chai lipglass. It’s semi-sheer on lips–it tones down my natural color a bit and makes it look rather nude/washed out almost. Definitely not very brown on lips.
  • On the Scene is a light orange-peach with subtle white shimmer. I know someone is going to ask me if I’m sure I didn’t mess the swatches up, but On the Scene looks incredibly similar to Fashion Whim when applied to [my] lips. I’m not even joking. I put them on side by side to make sure, and I couldn’t tell. On the Scene is just barely warmer than Fashion Whim. On the full-face, you can see the way one is warmer, one is cooler. At first, I thought it was like Ember Glow, but on lips it’s a little different.
  • Fashion Whim is a light peach with pale gold shimmer. This is like a pinky nude that goes on semi-opaque . It’s kind of like Creme d’Nude in lipgloss form, or else a pinker version of C-Thru lipglass. It’s a little milky on my lips, so it has a tendency to emphasize lip lines.
  • Chillin’ is a very light, pale cloudy blue. On lips, it really just like a milky cool-toned white with multi-colored shimmer. I think it may be nice to use to add glossiness and a bring out the cool tones of a lipstick. If you were hoping for a truer blue or something pigmented, this isn’t it.
  • Right Image is a neutral-yellow pink with white shimmer. It’s just a pretty medium pink that applies semi-opaque with pink and white shimmer. Even though it’s pretty, you may own something similar.
  • Going Casual is a cool-toned, blue-based pink with iridescent purple and white shimmer–almost leans a little purple. It has a very milky look and does settle into my lip lines.

I love lip products that are strange in the tube but not on the lips..like spring bean! I think it’s a conversation starter! This is fun I think I will get it. Thanks!!

I expected Chillin to be like this actually. When I saw the tube I assumed it was one of those lipglosses that are supposed to look glossy and possibly fuller, not for pigmentation. I like the idea, but idk if I want to pay that price for it lol. Thanks for posting photos!

I kind of like this. It puts me in mind of Luminary Lustreglass. A lot of people didn’t “get” Luminary, but it’s one of my favorites.

I already wanted this before I saw swatches, so although I was hoping for more color I’m probably going to end up buying it, anyway. I wonder how it’ll look over pinks like Gaga and Saint Germain.

It’s so cute, looks awesome on you, but I can’t really wear any kind of gloss >< At the risk of sounding stupid, but I always heard it doesn't hurt to ask, how does it feel on the lips? Is it stickier, lighter, …? I don't own any cremesheen glasses, I actually only have a clear lip glass and it feels so sticky I can't really use it (mostly because my hair keeps sticking to it and that's totally annoying =P).

This looks a bit similar to Bobbi Brown Platinum lip gloss, but I think this is lighter, Platinum is more grey. I use Platinum to tone down bright lip colors and add glossiness to rather matte shades. I suppose this can be used in similar way too.

Omg! I LOVE it! I ADORE it! It’s so unique and gorgeous. Is it limited edition? … I’m gonna die if I don’t get it. Seriously. … Ok, that’s not true, but omg, I gotta beg my mom for money, even though I just made a huge Cherry Culture purchase..! <3

Claire Avatar

Im really not a fan of this. It seems to look like a clear gloss with a weird milky tint to me. I will most likely not purchase this! Thanks for the swatches though so I know what it looks like:) However this is a real bummer for me!

I can definitely see myself getting this, if for no other reason than to tone down some of the bright lipsticks I’m too self-conscious to wear otherwise!

I bought You’ve Got It and I love it! I haven’t had much luck finding nude colors that are appropriate for my lips, but this one works beautifully alone or even over Call My Bluff l/s from the same collection.

What kind of work do you do Christine? Just curious. I like the new Cremesheen Glasses, I just started buying MAC lipglasses for the ladies in my family last Christmas. MAC rocks!

Kelsey Avatar

It’s funny, but I like Chillin’ and Right Image the most and I originally thought I would want Fashion Whim and Going Casual! I’m glad I saw these lip swatches before I went to buy all the wrong ones tomorrow! Thank you!

Brenda Avatar

I think you wear them all very well! maybe not so much Goin Casual and Fashion whim, they seem a bit too light. I am now interested in You’ve got it and On the Scene:0 Thank you Christine!!!

What eyeliner are you using on your bottom lid? It’s gorgeous! I’m trying to figure out if it’s the navy from “Style Influencer” trio or the blue-violet shade from “Togetherness”, or a completely different product. I’ve been looking for the perfect blue shadow to go over my Bobbi Brown gel liner for extra definition (I loved “Sapphire Shimmer” before it was discontinued, and now I use “Cobalt Ink”.

Keep up the amazing work! Love your blog, the photos and swatches are fabulous and very helpful! x.

I already ordered 3 of them. By the way I loooooove your website!!!! Could you tell me the eyeliner you were using for the cremesheen swatches.

You’ve Got It is my favourite in this collection. But actually, because you are young and have good skin and great colouring, they all look good on you.

sophie Avatar

how come they are so sheer? i thought they released them after that ”the dazzleglasses are so sheer” for more color pay off….???
