MAC Natural Vigor Mineralize Eyeshadow ($22.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “shimmery champagne peach.” MAC described the finish as “half pearl/half frost.” It seems less like a duo differentiated by finish and more like a traditional duo with one lighter and one darker shade, though they’re both in the same color family.

Natural Vigor #1 is a light-medium, yellow gold with a frosted finish. Applied dry, it was mostly opaque, and applied damp, it was fully opaque and slightly more metallic. The texture was soft and fairly smooth, and the color wore well for seven and a half hours before fading. Too Faced Butter Pecan (P, $16.00) is a smidgen lighter. Too Faced Nutmeg (LE, $16.00) is darker. Ardency Inn Sunday (P, $21.00) is brighter. Tarte Golden Locket (LE) is less yellow. Stila Vitality (P) is darker. Dior Sundeck #2 (LE) is less shimmery. Maybelline Beige-ing Beauty (85) (LE, $6.99) is a cream product. theBalm #41 (P, $6.50) is lighter. Urban Decay Blunt (P, $18.00) is yellower. Dior Night Golds #4 (LE) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Natural Vigor #2 is a muted, medium gold with brown and a more metallic finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation applied dry, and it was more opaque applied damp but not fully opaque. On me, this shade lasted well for seven and a half hours with some sparkle fall out. Tarte Dare to Be Gold (LE) is darker. Too Faced Nutmeg (LE, $16.00) is less orange. Gucci Beauty Autumn Fire #1 (P) is slightly redder, darker. Urban Decay Baked Cowboy (P, $18.00) is brighter, yellower. Giorgio Armani Organica (Right) (LE) is very similar. MAC Rocket Girl (LE, $15.00) is darker. Milani Bella Sand (02) (P, $3.99) is slightly yellower. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Force of Nature Mineralize Eyeshadow ($22.00 for 0.06 oz.) is described as a “shimmery brown [with a half pearl/half frost finish].” I really liked one side, but the other side was drier and sparkly enough where it was prone to fall out.

Force of Nature #1 is a medium-dark, taupe brown with warm undertones and a frosted finish. Applied dry, it was less frosted but had good color payoff, and then applied damp, it was more shimmery and reflective. The consistency was soft, smooth, and easy to blend on the skin. It wore well for seven and a half hours on me before fading. Makeup Geek Mesmerized (P, $9.99) is darker, cooler-toned. Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angel #2 (LE) is yellower. Laura Mercier Crystal Beige (LE, $23.00) is similar. Anastasia Custom (P, $12.00) is lighter. MAC Mortal #5 (LE) is less shimmery, cooler-toned. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #3 (LE) is similar. Make Up For Ever D562 Taupe Platinum (P, $21.00) is yellower. Sleek MakeUP Genie (LE, $9.99) is darker. Sleek MakeUP Aladdin’s Lamp (LE, $9.99) is more sparkly, yellower. Chanel Tisse Rivoli #1 (P) is darker. Sleek MakeUP Paradise on Earth (P, $9.99) is slightly cooler-toned. Urban Decay Mugshot (P, $18.00) is darker. MAC Until Dawn #1 (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery. Tom Ford Beauty Platinum (LE, $42.00) is a cream product. Urban Decay YDK (LE, $18.00) is similar. Chanel Topkapi #2 (LE) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Force of Nature #2 is a dark taupe brown with subtle, warm undertones, but it is a lot grayer than the lighter shade in the duo. It was sheer when I applied it dry, but it was more opaque applied with a dampened brush. The texture is drier, and as a result, it doesn’t apply as smoothly as one might like. I felt like the brush had to be fairly damp to really get it to smooth down. The color showed signs of fading after seven hours of wear with some fall out. Makeup Geek Mesmerized (P, $9.99) is darker, cooler-toned. LORAC Granite (LE) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #4 (LE) is darker, less shimmery. Make Up For Ever ME614 Graphite Brown (P, $21.00) is browner, brighter, darker. Sleek MakeUP Genie (LE, $9.99) is darker. Chanel Tisse Rivoli #1 (P) is less shimmery. YSL Saharienne #4 (P) is less shimmery. Makeup Geek Moondust (P, $5.99) is warmer. MAC Silver Dawn (LE, $19.50) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Mugshot (P, $18.00) is similar. Urban Decay Vaporize (LE, $18.00) is cooler-toned, grayer. Chanel Topkapi #2 (LE) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I feel like the colors aren’t special but the finish looks really really nice on your skin. OT, Christine, what brand clear brow gel would you recommend?

I prefer Force of Nature to Natural Vigor because I think this is a more defined colour. I think the colours in Natural Vigor are in many palettes – especially the Naked variety, so you would have plenty of those. Unfortunately, Force of Nature did not review well. So a pass for me.

Natural Vigor is a color I would love to have for summer when I tend to wear more skin-toned shiny things on my eyes. I might have to get one and stash it away. . . .

Force of Nature sort of reminds me of Family Silver from years and years back. The colours aren’t the same (though the darker sides are a bit similar) but both of them are duos that look so pretty and promising in the pan but are less rewarding applied. Mind you, this one seems far more pigmented than Family Silver and I am so tempted to get it, despite the fact that I’ve got way too many dupes for both shades.
