I’ve continued to go back to L’Oréal Voluminous for about 25 years! There’s a reason it’s been around that long. I’ve tried HE mascaras, other DS brands, but regardless of pricepoint, it’s been my HG.

wet n’ wild lipliners! After having no success with higher priced versions, I went back to this impulse buy and love them on their own, they are very creamy and pigmented.

Have you tried WnW 666 liner? It was BIG in the 90s (even when the brand wasn’t) and SURPISE… it goes awesome with the current 90s lip craze. Go figure.

P.A. Avatar

Yup, I’ve picked it up recently. It’s a nice plummy-brown that’s perfect for the 90s trend that’s gotten so popular. Are you a fan of brown lips, Angie? I’m drawn to brown tones on lips so that’s kinda what made me want to pick up my old willow lip liner, haha. I love warm toned lip colors on fair skin. (My skin’s a touch lighter and cooler than the EL Resilience lift extreme 1C1 nude 08)

E.l.f. Studio blush palettes are both getting a lot of use ($6/each); e.l.f. HD Powder ($6); e.l.f. Studio HD Lifting Concealer in Brightening for my bouts of insomnia ($3); Wet n Wild Megalast lipsticks (around $2-$3); Nyx lipsticks $3-$6: Physician’s Formula and Almay mascaras (usually I get them for less than $10); Nyx blushes ($6), Sleek blushes ($6.99 USD for singles; 3 blush palettes $14.99 USD). Those are what I’m using a lot of lately.

The L’Oreal green liquid concealer. I had my doubts about green concealers, tried this one and fell in love. It doesn’t take a ton of blending and really neutralizes my redness and makes my skin look so even. Somehow it seems to minimize the appearance of my pores, too, but I’m not sure why because I don’t think that’s one of the claims haha.

At the moment it would have to be the Avon SuperShock eyeliners. I love them that much that I went and purchased every single one that they’ve ever released. They are so soft and smooth and they stay on really well. It comes in a lovely selection of colours but the only ones I tend to see available are the black and the silver. Totally recommended. 🙂

I sort of rediscovered the Revlon Colorstay foundations these past few months and I’m really into them. Especially combined with the Skinlights–I’m digging dewy skin this fall and winter to combat my cold-weather dryness, and blending in just a hint of the Skinlights gives a more luminous finish without sacrificing the foundation’s buildable coverage.

xamyx Avatar

This is my HG foundation! I’ve been looking into a new foundation, and after dozens of HE samples, nothing worked… Not only is the formula a perfect fit for my skin, the color is as close as I’m going to find.

The only one I can think about is a top coat, Miracote, the best so far, and it’s only $5-6 on Amazon. Considering I change my polish often, I use it a few times a week.

LOVE L’Oreal Miss Manga Mascara…that one is fast becoming my all time favorite because it lifts and curls my lashes and then I don’t have to go through the torture of trying to use an eyelash curler.

Well.. Where do I start?
Serum- Lacura- Get it in a supermarket. As good as the fancy ones at a fraction of the price.
Foundation- Maybelline better skin. My finding of the year! I don’t even wan to test more foundations.
Lip liner than acts as matte all over lip- Rimmel Exagerate in East end Snob
Blush- Rimmel Santa Rose.- Gives me more satisfaction than all my Nars, Mac, Benefit…..
Mascara- Seventeen Falsifeye ( recommended by Wayne Goss) as second coat.
(I have to offset for the costly Sisley face tanner. I got a sample and now I want the real thing)

Collection NZ Lasting Perfection Concealer in 01 Fair (whatever the lightest shade is). I bought this thing *at the supermarket*. For like $11 (on special). For anyone shocked at how special I think that price is, I should mention that most drugstore brands will set you back something like $20-$25 for a concealer, LOL!

Some may know it as Collection 2000 or Collection UK – it’s the same brand.

I think I have to investigate that L’Oreal product you love Christine – being a true teal fan.
My budget friendly product is Rimmel’s Match Perfection foundation in their lightest shade Porcelain.
Another is the L’Oreal mascara that everyone loves – Full Definition Mascara
Milani lipsticks – fantastic products and a great range of colours. I love the toffee colour.

Elf lip exfoliator..it comes in a tube .I break it off and mash it into one of those little sample containers from Sephora. I sampled Bliss and Fresh lip scrub. This is so much better than both.I’d have to say I’m really liking NYX lipliners and matte lip creams. But,it’s really col and dry in Cincinatti this time of year.so not reaching for them much now. Also, most the deep shades are always sold out!

Johnna Quick Owens Avatar

Thank you so much for this tip Nicole! I love the ELF lip exfoliator, I just bought it finally last week, but I’m not crazy about the tube aspect. Mashing it up into a tube would be perfect, as I really love the product itself. It just seems that on the tube, once the top layer comes off, the rough stuff remains and keeps sanding my lips down. I can see how this is the solution. Seriously, thanks!

Nicole Avatar

Glad to help! A sales SA at Sephora actually told me about it when I told her the other, close to $30 scrubs basically were worthless.I like to use a baby toothbrush to give a little umph to it as well.enjoy!

Essence Long Wearing eyeliner; I’ve tried liners from $1-$30+, and this is the only one that stays on my waterline, even on the hottest, most humid days.

Maybelline Master Hi-Lighter blushes; I have 5 of them, and they all look beautiful. No sparkles or glitter, just a nice glow. They’re a great time-saver, as I don’t have to use 2 products & 2 brushes. Another great find from Maybelline is Fit Me foundation. This is my new HG, that I bought on a whim, and I actually like wearing foundation again! For the record, I do have drier skin, so I don’t think these will go over well on those with oily/combination skin. However, for those with dry skin, these are a beautiful combo!

Revlon foundation, maybelline mascara and l’oreal bronzer are my favourite. others i switch quite often. They are even cheaper when bought from Order and Save, they give discount on every product you purchase. i’d recommend every girl to buy product from there if you’d love to save some money 🙂 😉

A homemade vitamin c serum that I make myself from water, glycerine and powdered vitamin c. I use this on my face every morning and it has done more for my skin than any high end serum I’ve ever used. It evens my skin tone, brightens, and makes my pores smaller. All this for only pennies!

*Prestige Total Intensity Eyeliner & Wet N Wild Fergie Take On the Day Eyeprimer, both stay on my oily lids better than higher-end brands.
*Yes to Coconut Head-to-Toe Restoring Balm – this is thick, so I use at night as facial moisturizer, leave in hair conditioner, and hand cream.
*Revlon Balmstains – swipe and go, lasts long time.
*NYX Extra Creamy Round Lipstick – name says it all

my go to budget friendly product right now is the NYX primer. I feel like it hold foundation so well. its amazing. I also like milani bronzer. I use to as a highlight and I love it. I go to it more than my more expensive bronzers and highlighters. Im also into the maybelline liquid eyeliner. good stuff

Silk Natural Smooth and Full Black Label Lip Treatment keeps my 58-year old lips looking plump, not collapsed. Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser, Cream Formula. Aveeno Ultra Calming makeup remove wipes (gets almost everything off without irritating my sensitive skin when I’m so tired that I’m removing makeup in bed). NYX Butter Gloss in Angel Food Cake, a medium mauve that’s a MLBB shade for me — a top coat of this makes ‘nude’ lipsticks wearable on my cool fair/light skin tone. Sephora eye liner pencils. CeraVe moisturizing cream in the big tub as a night cream over serums (very moisturizing, has ceramides). Not quite budget, but lower cost than other high-end brands, Mario Badescu Carnation Eye Makeup Remover Oil and Cleansing Milk with Carnation and Rice Oil — new discoveries which are effective and feel wonderful on my parched winter skin.

I LOVE drugstore and budget makeup!

– Rimmel eyebrow pencil in Hazel- a warm but not too warm taupe for gingers and blondes.
– Wet ‘n Wild matte lipsticks- I own nearly all of them- they last up to 10-12 hours!
– Maybeline Instant Age Rewind concealer- great for under eyes and highlighting. Thin, flexible, long lasting formula.
– Aveeno feverfew face wipes- GREAT for people with sensitive or rosacea skins!
– Mario Badescu rose, aloe and herb facial spray- a wonderful toner for only 7$!
– Wet n’ Wild eyeshadow singles in ‘Brulee’ (1$)- a dupe for Bare Minerals “Well Rested” (18$)- I use it for brow highlight and for setting my undereye concealer.

I’m too broke to afford anything pricier than L’Oréal and I have found some real gems from the more affordable brands. Some close to HG status for me are:

– Maybelline Fit Me liquid concealer, Rocket Volume Mascara
– NYX Stay Matte But Not Flat powder foundation
– WnW and Sleek eyeshadows
– Well, Sleek palettes, basically — loving the new Eye & Cheek palettes!
– e.l.f. Studio brushes, Essential lipsticks and liquid eyeliners

It makes me so happy that there are so many great things to be had for pocket change.

Maybelline the Falsies Black Drama mascara

CoverGirl Clean Whipped Creme foundation – but it’s been discontinued, :(….but I alternate it with my old standby

Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream

Fit me concealer for my undereye circles. Great. And lately I’ve discovered myself reaching for my Elf Studio blushes all the time even over my HE ones. Blushing rose and Merry Berry are my go-to blushes right now.
