MAC Flaming Chic Extra Dimension Blush Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Flaming Chic Extra Dimension Blush ($25.00 for 0.22 oz.) is described as a “bright blue pink.” It’s a coral-pink with subtle, warm undertones, and a satiny finish. Burberry Coral Pink is much, much darker. MAC Whole Lotta Love is cooler-toned. Chanel Rose Initiale is a smidgen pinker. MAC Immortal Flower is lighter and a touch warmer. Tarte Blissful is warmer, more coral. Tarina Tarantino Parasol is similar but shimmery. theBalm Frat Boy is slightly warmer.

The texture had a light dryness to it that didn’t seem to inhibit blending or payoff, but there’s a noticeable dryness to the power (and if you’re familiar with the Extra Dimension formula, it’s consistent with the rest of the line, and also a bit like Mineralize products). It had good color payoff, but I did notice that there was a waxy film on it that needed to be rubbed away before it worked well. I didn’t notice it on the other shades, but this one did. It has a subtle sheen in its finish, and it’s very flattering on the skin–natural and a bit glowy but not metallic of frosted; and it didn’t emphasize pores or the skin’s natural texture. Flaming Chic wore for seven hours before looking a bit faded after eight hours, though MAC only states these have six-hour wear.

Absolutely GORGEOUS but I haven’t finished a single blush in upwards of 20 years! (I’ve been trying to finish Desert Rose since I hit pan on it ages ago but I haven’t even finished that one yet). I need to stop BUYING blushes and stick to USING one or 2 of them!

I know what you mean about that waxy film! I have that issue with MAC eyeshadows sometimes. I ended up having to exchange a quad once because one shade kept forming a weird film; the sales associate looked at me like I was nuts, and tried to explain that “that’s just how matte eyeshadows feel” but the new one was just fine. It’s so bizarre.

I’ve had my heart set on Chanel Rose Initiale for a long time now; it is tempting to get this instead, but the heart wants what it wants.

Hold out for the Rose Initiale. It applies like a dream and stays put for a really long time. Oh and the color is probably the perfect pink.

I agree!!! Rose Initiale is so, so beautiful. I did order this MAC blush but to me, nothing comes close to Chanel’s beautiful blush….

i can’t believe these blushes get such a good rating in texture. for me they were a big disappointment. to me the texture was like brick and they had a very poor color pay-off. i ordered all of them, but ended up returning all 5! as much as i wanted to love them, i would never reach for these. why would i bother using (rubbing my brush over the product) flaming chic when i have whole lotta love ( where one soft sweap is enough for both cheeks), it just doesn’t compete.

I love the finish, but color wise it’s probably be the most dupable blush in this collection. Nice to have, but not something I feel like I need.

I bought this and it is impossible to get on my brush. If I sweep it over I get NOTHING. If I stab at it with the bristles I end up getting large particles. I don’t think this one is worth the $25.00. I am probably going to return mine.

Do you have a recommendation on how to remove the waxy top layer? Should I just rub it off with a paper towel or go at it with a coarser brush? Love this color on you btw, I just can’t let it go! xD

This is so pretty on you Christine. Please tell me which brush you used to apply it with as I am so tempted to get my paws on this one! Thanks for ever helpful advice.
