MAC Cosmetics DSquared Collection: Sculpt & Shape Duos

MAC DSquared Collection is small launch in-stores today, the 28th. The collection includes two Sculpt & Shape Powder Duos — Bone Beige/Emphasize and Accentuate/Sculpt.

Sculpt & Shape Powder Duos

  • Bone Beige/Emphasize is a duo of a soft, lightly shimmered palest cream for highlighting and a reddish-toned light-medium brown for contouring. This is supposed to be most ideal for lighter skin tones (think NC/NW15).
  • Accentuate/Sculpt is a duo of a soft, pinky-peach shimmered highlighter and a neutral-cool medium matte brown for contouring. This is most ideal for light and medium skin tones.

Accentuate/Sculpt is my favorite duo, as I feel it’s very universal and can work for a wide variety of skin tones. Sculpt can be layered for deeper color or used lightly for softer color. I personally have all of MAC’s Sculpt & Shape powder line in full-size (they’re the size of blushes–but they can be purchased individually rather than as a duo at PRO), and I love them. They’re great for cheeks and the face, but they’re also outstanding on the eyes for a very natural, sculpted look.

  • Product: 28/30
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 4/5
  • Packaging: 4/5

Recommendation: If you’re looking for a non-bronzer contouring product, try MAC’s Sculpt & Shape line!

I actually picked up Accentuate/Sculpt at a MAC warehouse sale for $12 (CAD). I was so happy to see it there.

But for some reason I have yet to use it!! I guess I’m not really sure how. I’ll have to watch your ‘how to’ contour video again 🙂

Hey Teresa & gloomy,

Apparently, they have the Estee Lauder/MAC/Clinique warehouse sale on a quarterly basis. I went on Sept.9/09 and it was at the Markham Fairgrounds in Markham, Ontario. I know there was one in June/July of this year also. Don’t know when the next one is though 🙁

The sale is invite only. Some ppl were selling them on Kijiji/Craig’s list but I was like pisssh, eff that! And then God gave me an early b-day when I found a free ticket online after numberous Google searches! It was a meetup group that had an extra ticket; so I metup with these ppl who were nice enough to give me a ticket 🙂 Then I saw my MUA in line and she said ‘well if I had known you were wanting to go I would have given you one of my extra tickets!’ So ask your MUA for sure!!! Hope this helps 🙂

Thank you so much for the reply Cherie! 😀 That is not very far for me to go to for MAC 😮 wow!!! I HAVE to go next time! Thanks for the tips, as I dont have a MUA 🙂 I always see Revlon warehouse sales but I want MAC 😀 hehe. Looks like the next one may be in December(?) 🙂 Happy Birthday, Cherie! 😀

I have been always wanting to learn how to contour. So I am so excited that this got launched. Im loving Accentuate/Sculpt. Im sure that will suit well on my skin tone.

Thanks for the swatches, I’ll be getting this !! I’m NW15 but I’ll be getting Accentuate/Sculpt, it looks prettier than Bone Beige/Emphasize !!

When these first came out (not Pro) I tried them, and Bone Beige/Emphasize did nothing for me, except the highlighter (I’m NW20 when tannish). I think this would have been better if they did the darker colors, instead of the lightest ones.

I am going back tomorrow to buy the Accentuate and Scuplt duo because I am looking for a less shimmery and bronzing highlighting and sculpting powders. This is a better deal, as each individual sculpting and highlighting pan is $25.00 CAD. This way I get both for $25.

Rayanna Avatar

I have a quick question. Do you think someone who is NW15 can wear the bone Bone Beige side of the Sculpt & Shape Powder Duo has an all over face colour to make themselves paler for Halloween? Or would that not work?

Natalie Avatar

Hi Christine,
today I went into my nearest mac pro AND mac counter to buy the dsquared products and they both said that the collection isn’t coming out until Thursday. I would have argued and said that obviously it’s already out in many places and I knew it was coming out today to coordinate with the runway show but they obviously didn’t have anything, do you know why this is/where I might find the collection? I live in Los Angeles, if that matters. And happy birthday!

Traci Avatar

I just ordered both of these! I’ve been wanting them since they first came out way back when, but I wasn’t a makeupaddict yet. It’s too bad they put the redder brown with the emphasize color, that’s why I bought both. I need a lighter white, and a cool brown. Hope these work out!

Patty Avatar

I totally agree with you. I may just buy accentuate/sculpt though. I dropped a pretty penny on ‘Style Black’ haul, and can’t afford two of these.

HC Avatar

I’ve been using NARS laguna bronzer to ‘contour’ but I think it’s too shimmery and light. I’m thinking about Accentuate/Sculpt. I’m a NC20. My local CCO has 4 sculpt and shape duos for I believe $12 and these two new launches are there! What do you think?? Worth splurging? I’m hesistant to buy this b/c I have so many highlights already! Oyy…

Basak Avatar

I think this is the perfect thing for me. I love blush, contour and highlight products and I have everything else but a matte sculpt and highlight duo. I’m N2 in F&B foundation, and I’ve been coveting Accentuate and Sculpt for a looong time! I’m glad these duos are back 🙂

Kris Avatar

I just bought one of these in Accentuate Sculpt. Can anyone tell me if the printing on the back of the box is suppose to be at an angle or is this a misprint? Thanks

Hey Christine,
I read your review on the original MAC Accentuate & Sculpt Duo, I was wondering if there is any difference between the MAC Accentuate & Sculpt Duo and the Dsquared Accentuate & Sculp duo since you’ve used both? I don’t really wear make up, as I’m a guy.. But I model, and need something to contour my nose with, and i’ve read the Mac Duo’s are the best to use. Also, is the Accentuate very sparkly or would people be able to notice the glitter in it?

Christine Avatar

Hi Roman,

No, there shouldn’t be any difference, it’s the same product, just re-released. MAC PRO also has the full Sculpt and Shape line in full-size pans all the time (it’s permanent at PRO stores). No shimmer in the contouring shades and very, very minimal, subtle shimmer in the highlighting portions, so it shouldn’t be sparkly 🙂

I have the Bone Beige/Emphasize one and I love it for may fair skin but I have to agree with your review. When MAC comes out with another palette I would love to have Sculpt & Emphasize as a duo since Bone Beige is perfect so my fair skin but I can build it at all for a more dramatic look.

I hope MAC does read your reviews Since I love these compact since it takes the guess work out and is more useful for the everyday woman to just have one highlight and contour compact.

I bought Bone Beige/Emphasize in 2007, then this DSquared re-release to replace it and I will likely pick up another one in two years to replace that.

Christine~ I missed this collection and you mentioned that there are full sizes available~? Pleeease do tell me where to get them~?! Thanks so much~!

Do you think MAC will repromote the Sculpt & Shape duos in 2011/2012?
I’ve been reading up on them and I”m really interested in Sculpt…and would like to see Accentuate in person to see if it’s too pink for my skin. I don’t want to buy it unseen off ebay. Also, I don’t feel good about purchasing something that’s 2 years old even if it’s brand new.
