MAC Dark Majesty & Gentrified Fluidline Reviews, Photos, Swatches

MAC Dark Majesty Fluidline

MAC Dark Majesty Fluidline ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “black with black pearl.” It’s a softened, charcoal black with subtle silver micro-shimmer. It was semi-opaque, but buildable, and had a lightweight, creamy consistency that was easy to apply and then dried down to stay in place for nine hours. Tarina Tarantino Rockstar Love (P, $15.00) is darker. Urban Decay Black Market (LE, $19.00) is darker. Urban Decay Uzi (P, $19.00) is more shimmery. Urban Decay Smoke (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. bareMinerals 11PM (LE, $15.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Gentrified Fluidline ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “brown with bronze pearl.” It’s a plummy brown with warm undertones and gold sparkle. It was semi-sheer, and it was difficult to build up the color, because it seemed to be slightly thinner and more emollient than most Fluidlines. What I was able to apply lasted for eight and a half hours, at least. It’s too bad, as it was a more unique shade. Urban Decay Darkside (P, $19.00) is darker. NARS Via de Martelli (P, $24.00) is darker, browner, less shimmery. Chanel Grenat (P, $30.00) is redder, brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

These eyeliners are from the upcoming Heirloom Mix collection, which launches online on October 19th and hits stores/counters on October 23rd. International locations should see this sometime in November.

It would have made more sense if they had charged twice as much for it– with half the color payoff. Maybe if they’d kicked a long time permanent shade off of the shelf in order to make room for it…

I dunno.

If MAC chose “gentrified” because they thought it was a reference to “gentry,” then someone over there really ought to have picked up a dictionary.

I love Fluidlines and it seems Dark Majesty is quite lovely…..the micro shimmer worries me a little, because sometimes it gets stuck in my contacts! That happens to me with some Pearlglides, too. Very annoying because the shades and textures are so pretty!

Genrified looked so interesting in the jar, how disappointing to see it perform so poorly. Dark Majesty is nice, but I tend to use mostly black eyeliner so a shimmery one, nah, I can skip that. And a good thing that, as there are so much to buy from all the holiday collections that keep popping up.

I am liking Gentrified, as it’s a really unique color. Wonder if you could sheer it out and kind of man an indelible cream-shadow out of it? It’s just lovely.

Hey Christine! Did you have any fall out with gentrified fluid line? I’d love to use it as a cream eyeshadow/base but I am allergic to fall out, lol. Do you remember “it’s physical” fluid line from the magnetic nudes collection? It was so pretty but I shudder just thinking about the fall out from that one. And now I am wary!
