MAC Dark Majesty & Gentrified Fluidline Reviews, Photos, Swatches
MAC Dark Majesty Fluidline
MAC Dark Majesty Fluidline ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “black with black pearl.” It’s a softened, charcoal black with subtle silver micro-shimmer. It was semi-opaque, but buildable, and had a lightweight, creamy consistency that was easy to apply and then dried down to stay in place for nine hours. Tarina Tarantino Rockstar Love (P, $15.00) is darker. Urban Decay Black Market (LE, $19.00) is darker. Urban Decay Uzi (P, $19.00) is more shimmery. Urban Decay Smoke (P, $19.00) is less shimmery. bareMinerals 11PM (LE, $15.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
MAC Gentrified Fluidline ($17.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “brown with bronze pearl.” It’s a plummy brown with warm undertones and gold sparkle. It was semi-sheer, and it was difficult to build up the color, because it seemed to be slightly thinner and more emollient than most Fluidlines. What I was able to apply lasted for eight and a half hours, at least. It’s too bad, as it was a more unique shade. Urban Decay Darkside (P, $19.00) is darker. NARS Via de Martelli (P, $24.00) is darker, browner, less shimmery. Chanel Grenat (P, $30.00) is redder, brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
These eyeliners are from the upcoming Heirloom Mix collection, which launches online on October 19th and hits stores/counters on October 23rd. International locations should see this sometime in November.

So sad about Gentrified, I get excited for Fluidline shades. and Dark Majesty is just boring to me. lol
It’s so unique, but getting coverage? Sigh.
I wonder what the inspiration/thought was behind naming one “Gentrified”…
The collection itself has a lot of names based on the theme of royalty/nobility, so my guess is that’s where…
Normally I don’t care much about names but Gentrified seems…silly. And such an odd, sheer color!
If it were opaque it would be unique and interesting though. Shame.
There are definitely better names they could have used!
It would have made more sense if they had charged twice as much for it– with half the color payoff. Maybe if they’d kicked a long time permanent shade off of the shelf in order to make room for it…
I dunno.
If MAC chose “gentrified” because they thought it was a reference to “gentry,” then someone over there really ought to have picked up a dictionary.
Dark majesty looks so nice and pigmented!
It is!
Dark Majesty looks a lot like Maybelline’s Eye Studio Black Chrome and that one is amazing!
That’s great!
I love Fluidlines and it seems Dark Majesty is quite lovely…..the micro shimmer worries me a little, because sometimes it gets stuck in my contacts! That happens to me with some Pearlglides, too. Very annoying because the shades and textures are so pretty!
Oh no! 🙁
Dark Majesty sounds like Blitz and Glitz, which is part of the permanent collection. How similar are they?
I don’t have that, so I can’t say, but I know that Blitz and Glitch has gold shimmer, so it wouldn’t be the same at the very least.
*sigh* I got kind of excited when I saw the sparkly brown, and then…er… :-/
The black one looks nice, but I’m not gonna have to loosen my tie over it or anything 😉
LOL!
Genrified looked so interesting in the jar, how disappointing to see it perform so poorly. Dark Majesty is nice, but I tend to use mostly black eyeliner so a shimmery one, nah, I can skip that. And a good thing that, as there are so much to buy from all the holiday collections that keep popping up.
Dark Majesty is nice but easily skipped, I think!
I am liking Gentrified, as it’s a really unique color. Wonder if you could sheer it out and kind of man an indelible cream-shadow out of it? It’s just lovely.
It’s pretty sheer at all times!
Dark Majesty looks awesome! Love the fine shimmers!
Yay!
Gentrified could have been so much nicer if it was more pigmented. I quite like the color.
Agreed!
What a shame about Gentrified. The color is really, really pretty in the pot.
It was so unique, too!
I know. 🙁
Dark Majesty is tempting.
Look forward to seeing if you get it!
Somehow, it’s really funny that a fluidline with a name like ‘gentrified’ is not so good. When is ‘gentrified’ ever a good thing? So far, looks like not in life and not as make up. lmao!
Poetic!
Meh. I was hoping Dark Majesty would be darker and more intense with chunkier glitter. Boo MAC! This is boring!
🙁
I love MAC’s fluidline liners usually… but these are so underwhelming! Guess my wallet will thank MAC 😀
Haha 😉
Hey Christine! Did you have any fall out with gentrified fluid line? I’d love to use it as a cream eyeshadow/base but I am allergic to fall out, lol. Do you remember “it’s physical” fluid line from the magnetic nudes collection? It was so pretty but I shudder just thinking about the fall out from that one. And now I am wary!
Hey Helen,
I didn’t notice any fall out for these. The shimmer seems finer in these than It’s Physical!
Thank you so much. The fact that you always respond to our inquiries is really special!
