MAC Bright Response Blush
MAC Bright Response Blush ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “vibrant clean orange [with a Frost finish].” It’s a light-medium, tangerine orange with warm, yellow undertones paired with a frosted, golden shimmer. ColourPop So Retrograde (DC, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (95% similar). Dior Stand Out (649) (P, $48.00) is less shimmery, darker (95% similar). Fenty Beauty Chili Mango (P, $25.00) is darker (90% similar). Too Faced Luminous Peach (LE, ) is less shimmery (95% similar). Milani Sunrise Serenita (P, $7.99) is less shimmery, more muted (90% similar). Becca Tigerlily (DC, $34.00) is darker (85% similar). NARS Esoteric (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery (90% similar). Surratt Beauty Flamme (P, $32.00) is darker (85% similar). NARS Taj Mahal (P, $30.00) is more shimmery, darker, brighter (85% similar). MAC Perfectly Poised (Outer) (LE, $34.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Fenty Beauty Fuego Flush (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, lighter, more muted (85% similar). MAC Solar Ray (LE, $29.00) is darker, more muted (85% similar). Jouer Treasure Me (PiP, ) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (85% similar). NARS Ambition (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery, more muted, cooler (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
This is one of five new blush shades being added to the permanent range, but worth noting is that they are being added as a Small Powder Blush (the same size as MAC’s eyeshadows). I’m not sure if it will be available in pan-form or not (my guess is yes, since it is permanent) at this time. The formula is the same as their regular Powder Blush range, though, other than the size (and price). The new five are supposed to be pigmented with an even, smooth texture. Bright Response had fantastic color payoff that could easily be worn at true-to-pan intensity, but it had a softer, lightly dense texture that was really easy to work with on the skin, as it blended out beautifully. The texture produced a gorgeous sheen that didn’t emphasize pores and became more and more glowing as I diffused and buffed the powder on my skin. This shade lasted for eight hours on me.

Nice! Here is my game plan: wait until the holidays- if Becca does not release a luminous blush palette (oh please oh please) that contains Tigerlily, I will buy this. By then it might even be in a pro pan, which would be awesome.
Gorgeous. Think I will put this on the list for the MAC order I plan to place soon.
It’s a fun shade!
Oh my goodness, purty! Love the color and luminous glow, will put on my wishlist
Yay! Glad you liked it, Katherine!
I really enjoy it on you. I think I’d look like a sad demented clown in that shade.
Got both the Nars dupes, but I really like the idea of little Mac. Wish they had this option for all their blushes. With no compact option. Can you feature what a fun Z that would make? I’d pop for every shade that is floating around the periphery of my makeup mind. Listening, MAC? This one is a very nice orange, that doesn’t pull pink. That pink pull annoys me slightly. I like my oranges orange, not slightly mercurochrome.
Oooh, beautiful! Love that golden sheen.
What a lovely, glowy peachy-orange shade! Not so sure I could wear it on my cheeks without looking jaundiced, however. I’d love to wear it as an eyeshadow if it’s eye safe, though! Funny, I can wear orange lipstick or eye makeup, but on my cheeks makes me look very sallow.
Just curious, will you be posting reviews of the mini lipglasses? I’m interested in Water Deities but I wanted to see your review first.
Thanks for all your hard work!
Hi Jeanie,
As mentioned in the sneak peek, I will be reviewing 🙂 I am working as quickly as I can to test everything! I am very sorry for not being faster!
No apologies needed, I’m sure you’re swamped with all the new releases! It’s really no rush. Thanks for answering.
Oh, this is a gorgeous orange. I might have to add this to my list!
Ooh, that sounds promising. I just came back from vacation and I’m probably tan enough to pull this shade off. Question- how similar is this to modern mandarin also by Mac?
This is surpringly really pretty!!! I love how it turned out on the cheek! Question- have you tried using these new bright blushes as eyeshadows? I wonder if they’re just eyeshadows that have to be labeled as blushes bc they have those bright Not-Safe-for-the-eyes pigments? It seems so weird to otherwise put blush in a tiny eyeshadow size.
Pretty color! I thought this was a dupe for my beautiful Nars Taj Mahal and I was right!
That is so pretty. It’s like all those gold-shimmered peachy pink ones, minus the pink!
