MAC Apres Chic Lipsticks ($15.00 for 0.10 oz.) includes five new shades: Apres Chic (pinky brick red), Cozy Up (deep caramel), Haute Altitude (mid-tone blue pink), Hot Chocolate (dirty plum), and Warm Companion (beige with gold pearl).
Apres Chic is a lightened orange-red with a slightly glossy sheen. It’s a very interesting color, because it’s muted yet it’s still bright. It’s not tomato red, but it’s not a tame shade either! It has opaque color coverage, and it has a Cremesheen finish. Clinique Heftiest Hibiscus is similar–a touch more orange and brighter. YSL Blood Orange is sheerer but similar in color.
Cozy Up is a warm peachy-beige with a creamy finish. It has opaque color coverage and a matte finish–though it looks more like a satin to me, because there is a definite sheen. It has a nice, creamy consistency and applies mostly evenly. This shade wore for four hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating. Korres #34 is browner. MAC Warm Me Up is pinker. MAC Delectable is a bit more orange. MAC Yash is a touch less peach.
Haute Altitude is a lightened, medium pink with very subtle blue undertones–it is almost neutral-looking on me. It has opaque color coverage, and the official finish is amplified. It wore four and a half hours on me when I tested it. The consistency was creamy, and it glided on nicely without tugging or dragging. MAC Vivid Imagination is bluer-based and lighter. MAC Please Me is cooler-toned. Bobbi Brown Miami Coral is similar–a touch warm. MAC Mehr is darker, warmer.
Hot Chocolate is darkened plum with a brown base that keeps it looking muted. It has a satin finish, and the color coverage was fully opaque. This shade was comfortable to wear, and it had a very creamy feel. This shade wore for five hours on me. MAC Till Tomorrow is pinker, lighter. Chanel Stunt is a touch lighter. MAC Faithfully Yours is darker, more cool-toned.
Warm Companion is a warm, peach-gold shimmer. It doesn’t really have a color to it so much as lots and lots of shimmer and metallic sheen. The “color” it has seems to lighten my natural lip color just a bit, but the effect is due mostly to all of the shimmer, which gives semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage. On its own, it needs to be heavily blended with a fingertip or brush so the shimmer looks even. The consistency was a touch dry, so it didn’t apply evenly, as it dragged a bit on lips. It has a frost finish. It is extremely similar to Dior Or Etoile.
MAC lipsticks last anywhere from two to six hours on me, depending on the color and formula (there are a few outliers at under two hours and over six). I didn’t have enough time to test every single shade for wear, but I did test Cozy Up, Haute Altitude, and Hot Chocolate. I suspect Apres Chic will last between four and six hours and lightly stain. Warm Companion is likely to wear two to three hours. I will be verifying both over the course of today. MAC lipsticks are mostly non-drying on me, and they smell like vanilla but have no discernible taste.

Which lipsticks would you say are a must buy from this collection?
I liked Apres Chic, Haute Altitude, and Hot Chocolate!
I was just looking for swatches of these, because I think I only got two of them in my presell. Lo and behold, this appeared in my search results! I love all of them! So calling my counter and having the remaining held.
How close do you think Warm Companion is to Tanarama and the one that came out with this years summer collection?
Tanarama is lighter – more beige/champagne – less golden.

Christine, is Warm Companion a dupe for Beachbound from the To The Beach collection a few years ago, can you remember? Thanks so much for the review!
Beachbound is more beige to me – it doesn’t have the same golden sheen. Beachbound seems more like the base color of Warm Companion but without the golden sheen!
Apres Chic is prettier and lighter than I imagined. I’ll likely get two!

The MA said it was Apres Chick with Vino liner and Rosy Romancy (new lip tint) on top of it. Not sure, but I bought both.
Such a weird coincidence at checkout I was torn between getting Please Me and HAute Altitude! I wish I had clicked on Please Me instead. We have the same complexion and I’m not really on the look out for any more MLBB pink shades. These days I want bright in-your-face matte pinks.
I have to say Haute Attiude is beautiful! I am loving it, its my new favorite lipstick for the moment! if you like Creme Cup, Please Me, or Angel you should definatly take a look at this one! Christine, Warm Companion looks wonderful on you, even though i usually never like frost finishes. I am disappointed by Cozy up though, It seems too dupable to me I was considering going back to buy it but maybe Apres Chic instead!

Just got my Après Chic in the mail today. It is much more raspberry looking on me. In fact my color looks completely different than your swatch. I checked the label 2 times to make sure it was the right color! Strange!
Wow! beautiful shades! Iwas going to pass through these lippies, but that Hot Chocolate is juste the perfect plummy-mauvy-neutral tone I’m looking for, I was about to purchase MAC Inez (it’s already in my online shopping cart), Could you tell any difference between these two shades?
MAC Inez is purpler and it has golden sheen — Hot Chocolate is more muted, has more brown in it, and has no shimmer!

If you don’t like frost, then I’d go with the one with less – but Inez doesn’t have a LOT of frost, but I worry that if you point blank don’t like frosts, even the shimmer might be too much!
I bought Warm Companion yesterday – looks fantastic under “nymphette” l/g.
I wear “Sandy B” nearly every day and found Warm Companion to be a MUCH less pink alternative for smoky eye looks. They also layer well together. I have Dior’s Or Etoile also, and don’t think they’re the least bit similar, but that might be a skintone thing. I’m NC42, so I think they pull differently because this does look more like Or Etoile on you. So interesting 🙂
I have noticed a weird thing with Warm Companion – the same thing that happened with Gel, for me. The first one or two applications, MAC’s super light frosts seem to apply sort of sheer. By the third time I get full color. Yours here looks like mine did when I swiped it on the first time!

I’m not a huge fan of MAC lipsticks, but all of those colours look gorgeous. They’re definitely more wearable than most of the lipsticks they put out.

I actually like all of these! I thought they were pretty “blah” just seeing them on the MAC site, but on you they all look stunning! My wallet hurts just thinking about it…
I don’t wear red lipstick, so when I say this, I don’t say it lightly: I think this is my favorite red I’ve ever seen! It’s SUCH a perfectly, gorgeous subtle yet still bold lip. And that beautiful, shiny finish–so pretty! You’re right, it’s interesting because it’s bright yet a bit toned down. I LOVE that! WOW never thought I would actually want to buy a red lipstick so badly!
I was thinking the exact same thing! I’ve never been a fan of red lips, but that shade is without a doubt my favorite of the collection. Both the color and finish is really stunning!
Very nice, more wearable and cute compared to the other collection. I will not buy any though because I have to save my money for the Chanel and Guerlain items from the latest collection.

I bought Apres chic lipstick and hot chocolate lipstick. i think Apres chic is the best red colour ever in Mac lipsticks. Its really unique and looks very sexy when u wear on your lips…. its a cream-sheen finish so you don’t really need to have lip gloss,and if you need to match a lip-liner , i would defiantly suggest to get “AUBURN” lip liner from Mac..its just perfect for Apres chic lipstick.

Absolute Power would be the least yellowing, but I think Hot Chocolate would be really nice, too.
I am in love with Haute Altitude, so pretty! I can’t wait for it to be released in Brazil (and I hope it will!) Although the MAC prices here are brutal, I have got to say we do have the advantage that the products take a long time to sell out. There is no crazy rush to get it before it is sold out. =D
I picked up Hot Chocolate and it is the PERFECT nude for me! I am Mac Matchmaster 7.0-7.5 and I love it! I got a backup too!

How would you compare Haute Attitude to MAC Angel, in color, texture, and opacity?
I wasn’t going to buy any lipsticks, but I stopped by MAC today and Apres Chic is just the most gorgeous color. Picked it up, and am kind of regretting not getting Haute Altitude as well now… (but I got Stereo Rose, so I’m sort of already over my beauty budget this month…)
Haute altitude and hot chocolate are gorgeous!! I want them but my boyfriend doesn’t want me to get anymore lipsticks because he thinks owning 20 is already too much :S I also bought lipsticks already from the Strength collection.
The only one I got from this collection is Haute Altitude. I definitely wanted to buy them all after seeing them on you but HA was really the only one that looked decent on me. :\
How would you compare “I love winter” from last years holiday collection to haute altitude? I hear its very similar?

I spent my last days of 2012 & New Year’s Eve in LAS VEGAS & when I walked into the MAC Shop at Ceasar’s and tried “HAUTE ALTITUDE” I just couldn’t resist to buy it.
I don’t regret HAUTE ALTITUDE is a Fabolous Pink, Creamy and it last for very decent time 🙂

How would you say Après Chic compares with Lady Bug. I know they’re different finishes, but they both seem warm orange-leaning reds. Are they more different than I’m imagining? I’m thinking of stocking up on lady bug next time I’m at a mac counter but this post is tempting me to stray…
(Though, I hear après chic is sold out in lots of places so my decision might be made for me).

About 8 years ago Nivea had a lipstick (I think it was number 62) a pinky coral red that I had loved but sadly discontinued. Apres Chic is almost the same colour!

Christine, these are the colors that I love (and the ones everyone is trying to steer me away from. Apparently, they don’t think it looks that good to me. However, I’ve got about 100 lipsticks that look about the same.
Which one did you like better…warm companion or cozy up? I think that warm companion would need to be used over another lipstick? It looks pretty sheer.
