Achiote

MAC Achiote Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a brighter, light-medium pink-leaning coral with soft, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage in a single layer, though the lipstick wasn’t as forgiving of texture imperfections and could have applied more evenly as a result.

The consistency was lightweight, lightly emollient but not slippery, which made it comfortable to wear but not prone to sliding around. It wore well for three and a half hours and felt lightly hydrating over time.

MAC Lipstick comes in a variety of finishes, and the pigmentation and wear tend to be dependent on the finish. The sheer finishes, like Lustres, tend to wear for only a couple of hours and have sheer coverage (as designed) and are non-drying.

Some of the original Matte shades have a stiffer, drier formula, while newer ones have a more velvety, silicone-feel to them, and the latter are creamier, more comfortable to wear, and easier to apply, but most Matte shades are quite pigmented and long-wearing, though some are drying.

The Amplified and Satin finishes tend to have good pigmentation, lightly creamy to moderately creamy consistencies with a bit of shine, and moderate to long wear with deeper, richer shades wearing longer. The Frost and Metallic finishes have the most variance between shades with coverage ranging from semi-sheer to opaque with average wear and non-drying to slightly drying formulas. All MAC lipsticks are vanilla-scented but have no discernible taste.

Nuez Moscada

MAC Nuez Moscada Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.1 oz.) is a darker, dusty coral with muted, warm undertones and a satin finish. It was richly pigmented with a smooth consistency that was dense, lightly creamy, and easy to apply in a fluid stroke. The lipstick applied evenly and didn’t emphasize my lip lines or lip texture. This shade lasted well for four and a half hours and felt non-drying.

Just goes to show how different a specific shade can appear on two different skin depths, because on me, Nuez Moscado is like a “my lips but warmer” shade. Not quite a true “nude”, but not as deep as it looks against your skintone. Then again, with our cool season incoming, I will soon be back down to NW30 or 260 in Fenty. Then it will be more contrasting. Anywho. I do love it on you and on me!

This may sound odd, but I actually like when there’s nothing that tempts me in a post.
Both lipsticks, while pretty are so not for me. Corals just don’t go with my skin tone at all. I’ve learned that the hard and semi expensive way, buying and using corals as I think it’s such a summery colour. Now, lesson learned! 🙂
