L’Oreal Sparkle Frenzy Infallible Lipgloss
A Budget-Friendly Sparkling Red Gloss for the Holidays
L’Oreal Sparkle Frenzy Infallible Lipgloss ($9.99 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a bright red with gold and ruby red shimmer and sparkle. The underlying color is blue-based, but the addition of fiery gold shimmer makes it appear almost orange-toned at times. Dior Ceremony Red is bluer-based. MAC Ready to Roam is redder. MAC Totally Fab is more orange-toned. YSL Golden Red is similar but more orange-toned.
This is a new and limited edition shade for the holidays, which I grabbed at my local CVS a couple of weeks ago. I have a love/hate relationship with L’Oreal’s Infallible Lipglosses, because initially, I love, love them. They’re delightfully sparkly and pretty on, but they’re thin and have a tendency to feel gritty because of the thinness and high sparkle content. I feel like I fuss with my lips a bit more whenever I test one of these. There’s also this medicinal smell that sometimes reads “something sweet and fruity” or like menthol (honestly, it gives me an Icy/Hot kind of vibe, just more muted).
Sparkle Frenzy is semi-opaque and went on fairly evenly. The tapered applicator holds a lot of product and allows for precision along the edges of the lip and the cupid’s bow. This shade wore well for six hours, and it was in need of a touch-up after seven hours. It can handle some drinking, but it won’t make it through a meal. I love the way it looks, but I’m not keen on how it feels on: gritty, sticky, and a bit drying. While it wears well compared to the average gloss, L’Oreal advertises these as having eight-hour wear.

Gorgeous shade! Love the gold shimmer!
Oh too bad about the grittiness and fussy formula–either way though, that shade is just BRILLIANT on your lips! LOVE this–would be so great for a holiday party!
The description of the texture puts me right off, and the smell.
I usually don’t fall for sparkle, but I kinda like how this looks.
I think it looks really really pretty and I was totally ready to buy it, until I saw the “slightly drying” part of the review :/
That is one heck of a color! What a shame about the texture and smell though. If it wasn’t for that I’d go out and buy it today even though I don’t wear red lip colors.
Is this one a “plumping” gloss? I have several in both formulas, and while I find the “plumping” ones to have a bit of a “medicinal” scent/tingle, I don’t get that with the others.
Regular!
I own this and adore it! I give it an A! 😉
oh, I’m totally with you on the medicinal smell! you hit the nail on the head there! 🙂 it’s kinda gross actually, I prefer the vanilla in MACs lip products although I hate, hate the plumping MAC glosses, they taste/smell/feel awful!
It almost looks pinky on… I wonder if this is a red I can wear with my pink hair.
I agree with you about the love hate relationship. I love that color, but will be passing due to the formula.
SO SPARKLY AND BEAUTIFUL! but then… the texture.
I f****g hate this lipglosses! I have two shades : a gorgeous fucsia and a rosy pearl that is super cute but both leave me with a gross goopy residue in the corners of my mouth I just don’ t get why that happens! And they don’t come cheap you know ….
I might have to pick this one up. I really love the sparkle.
Even though these glosses are sticky, I don’t mind too much because I know it helps with the wear.
What I love most is the flat wand. It’s really nice & you can get precise lines.
it’s gorgeous and even more so on your puckers! hope it’ll be released in Singapore soon!
Gosh, why does the formula have to suck so much? This color is so gorgeous and I love the noticeable gold sparkle. Even with the negative review a small part of me still wants to search for this gloss in drugstores because the color is pure holiday perfection. I think I’ll resist though, I can’t deal with drying lip glosses in winter. Thank you for the review and swatch.
Huh…that looks a lot like the Wonder Woman gloss I have, but a little pinker. I bet it would be cute with a red eyeliner.
I honestly thought this was a super high end product. It’s getting harder and harder to tell these days. This is a gorgeous color.
That looks beautiful on you. I’m not bold enough to wear such a bright red but it looks so great. I have a similar issue with that formula. I have a few infallible glosses and I find them gritty as well. They are pretty though.
Very pretty!
I hate tacky glosses…pass only for that even though it´s a very nice color.
Will this product br available in Canada? Thank you!
I’m not sure – it is L’Oreal’s limited holiday release, but I never received any info from L’oreal on it.
