Look: Warm Neutrals & Glossy Red Lips for Christmas Day
The fabled Chanel Dragon…
I’ve grown so accustomed to having different eyeshadows on each eye that whenever I apply the same eyeshadows on each eye, I’m a bit taken aback by how it looks to match! I can’t say I wasn’t testing anything on Christmas (namely, the eyeshadows), but I did bring out some of my all-time favorites. 🙂
Look Breakdown
EYES: ColourPop Tea Party applied to inner third of lid, both applied with a narrow brush as well as patted slightly with fingertips. ColourPop Solstice applied to the middle of lid using a medium-sized, eyeshadow brush. ColourPop Sequin applied to the outer third of the lid using the same brush as before. ColourPop To-a-T applied into the outer crease using a synthetic rounded crease brush and buffed above crease towards the brow bone. ColourPop Fleek/Effect (dark brown side) applied into outer crease and diffused slightly above crease. Burberry Trench was dusted underneath the brow bone as a highlighter with a fluffy blending brush. ColourPop Fleek/Effect (teal side) applied with an angled eyeliner brush to the lower lash line with ColourPop Sequin smudged underneath. I used Sephora Blonde Ambition on the water line to brighten.
FACE: Guerlain Parure Gold (02 and 03 mixed equally) mixed with Kevyn Aucoin Celestial applied all-over the face with a flat-topped round, synthetic brush and buffed into the skin. I patted Urban Decay Naked Loose into the skin to help set and finish the base with a tapered powder brush. Tom Ford Love Lust was applied to cheeks to add warmth and color with a feathery blush brush. Kevyn Aucoin Starlight was dusted on top of cheek bones and down the bridge of the nose to highlight. Guerlain Wulong was lightly dusted all-over face to finish the look.
LIPS: Chanel Dragon applied to lips.

Awww yeahh, a full look! You look great, girl. 🙂 Chanel Dragon really is something…
Thank you, Anne!
I love the subdued teal and silver on your lower lash line. Thanks for your Christmas rush work, Christine. Good show!
Of course! 🙂
Love those red lips and sparkly eyes on you, very holiday! And you look lovely and glowing as usual, I must start mixing some highlighters into my foundation
Thanks a lot, Katherine! Love mixing a liquid highlighter in with foundation.
Beautiful! I love the teal eyeshadow on the lower lash line.
I would be interested in knowing which brushes you used (specifically). I know most of it is skill, but everything is blended beautifully.
I honestly don’t remember, as I just used what I happened to have nearby (I had about 10 minutes to do my makeup, lol!). I’m sure it involved a combination of these, though, as they are what I’ve been using: Chikuhodo GSN-09, Hakuhodo J5523, IT Cosmetics Crease Brush, MAC 266, SUQQU Cheek Brush, Chikuhodo Cheek/Highlight Brush, Wayne Goss Holiday Brush, IT Cosmetics Luxe Foundation Brush.
Thanks Christine. That is really helpful. Is the hakuhodo considerably softer than mac 217. my 217 seems so scratchy after i’ve been using my wayne goss eye brushes, but i love the shape/density of the 217 and WG doesn’t have one that is a close enough match.
Yes, softer than the 217! 🙂 I have one or two 217s and they’re soft, but from years ago, and my newer 217 isn’t really scratchy but isn’t as soft as my older 217s – the Hakuhodo is softer than all of them!
Very pretty look, and your hair is beautiful as well!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Christine! Thank you for all you do for us!
Thanks a lot, Pteetsa!
You look great!! This eye look is awesome! So wearable and doable (technique-wise). And now I can see why Chanel Dragon is really an HG product!!! Happy holiday!
Thank you, Fuji! Happy holidays!
Your stunning look made this last week of the year 2014 worth every minute spent here …
I was not actively commenting here but trust me you keep me glued and I wish to witness many more looks n reviews in near future too .
lost my MIL on 16th dec due to ILD and as she was with us I was pretty much occupied .
I’m so sorry for yours and your family’s loss, Rashmi! I imagine that everything is very difficult right now, and I’m sending hugs and good thoughts to your family right now!
Beautiful Christine!!
Thanks, Karen!
Nothing will replace Dragon. I bought Sonia Rykiel’s lip lacquer. I think that may have a similar texture. This brand is discontinuing the line. Bought it at Ichibankao.
I was really surprised Chanel didn’t replace it with something – I’m sure it wouldn’t be a replica, but they didn’t even put out a comparable formula.
If Chanel replaced it would something else or never discontinued this color and texture, you may never try something new. Wink.
What a gorgeous, festive look, Christine! Dragon is killer on you. Hope you’re having an amazing holiday 🙂
Thank you so much, Jen! 🙂
Gorgeous! Hope you have a wonderful holiday!
Thanks, Nazih! Happy holidays!
You look beautiful as always! Love the sparkly eyes with red lips.
Thank you, Lily!
Wow! You look gorgeous! I love all of these colors and how you put them together. Thank you so much for all you do to help us beauty junkies 🙂
Thanks so much, Liz! 🙂
Beautiful! I love the whole look. Hope you had a pleasant Christmas and will have a happy, prosperous new year! Can’t wait to see what 2015 brings for Temptalia. 😀
Thank you so much, Toni! 🙂 Happy holidays!
The longer I follow your blog, the more lovely you seem to get. Another winning holiday look.
Aw! You are too kind, Kate. Thank you 🙂 And thank you for reading!
You look absolutely stunning and radiant in this whole look that you put together! Just gorgeous! I’ll bet it felt really nice to have both eyes match for a change, what you go through with testing all these different products for us is an act of utmost dedication on your part. I know that I could never do what you do, it would send my perfectionistic OCD into a tailspin! Thank you for all that you do for us all out here.
I’m so used to it having two that one is so weird to me, haha!
I LOVE LOVE LOVE when you do full make up looks, complete with instructions!! Thanks so much! You look lovely! I always like your holiday looks… wish Dragon was still available of course!
Thanks so much, Cat 🙂 Happy holidays!
Too bad they DC’d Dragon. Stupid in my opinion.
Exactly!
Very pretty look Christine. I always love how you look with teal eyeliner on the lower lash line. You always choose the most flattering teal shade. The Guerlain Wulong and Chanel Dragon combo are a force to be reckoned with! Thanks for all your hard work. Looking forward to 2015!
It’s so hard to resist teal on the lash line, haha!
Thank you so much 🙂
A very classical Christmas look, I love the shine to your lips very glam x
Thank you, Leanne!
This makes me miss Dragon so much. Why did they have to dc such a gorgeous color (and product? it’s not listed on the US website anymore) 🙁
I wish I knew! They did discontinue the whole formula, and they never really replaced it :/
What a fabulous look for Christmas Day – you look stunning. I love the teal under your eye. That lipstick is beautiful.
Hope you and your family had a wonderful day and that Santa was good to you.
Thanks a lot, Genevieve! I did! Hope you had a good holiday 🙂
Wow thats a gorgeous look! I love how soft and pretty those shadows look. So impressed by colorpop so far! Dragon looked so much warmer on me when I did try it out when it was available. Too bad coz that is just the PERFECT shade of red on you! Merry Christmas & a very happy new year to you and yours Chrisitne:)
Thank you, Dee! Happy holidays!
Hehe, technically, warm(ish) neutrals was what I did too! That lipstick is *gorgeous*… I can see why it’s fabled ;-). I ended up extending the sparkly neutrals to Marc Jacobs Have We Met on the lips, because it was too hot to be bothered managing red lipstick, LOL! There are some definite advantages to a cooler Christmastime 😀
Sounds like a pretty look to me 😀
love the red lips and earrings!
Thanks, Joy!
You look absolutely fabulous! Chanel Dragon really looks so good on you.
Thanks a lot, Jan!
Nts; buy Chanel Dragon.
If only 🙁 They discontinued it!
Bummer. Because I need more red lippies.
You’re blending skills are remarkable. How do you like working with the Colourpop shadows?
Most of them are pretty easy to use, but a few are less so!
Lovely! 😀 Chanel Dragon.. My, my… Stellar! You, too! (Of course!) 🙂
So sad Chanel never even replaced it with a pseudo-Dragon!
Such a gorgeous look! I love that you used a rather cool-toned eyeliner on an overall very warm look. Have I told you you’re gorgeous? You are. 🙂
You are very sweet, Ryou! 🙂 Thank you! Happy holidays!
<3
I never do warm neutrals with a red lip. I always wear golds and bronzes with red lipstick, but I really like your holiday look! I’m going to have to try something similar. You look lovely, Christine!
Thank you so much, Amanda!
Gorgeous! You look amazing 🙂
Thank you!
Beautiful! xoxo
Thanks, Laarni! 😀
Stunningly beautiful, Christine!
Thanks a lot, Fran!
Stunning look!
Thanks, Lisa!

The look that you created is absolutely stunning!
Your hair is SO full, shiny and sparkling!
YOU are one hundred percent gorgeous!
Honestly, I bet your husband didn’t limit himself to contemplate your beauty and said: my wife is the most beautiful woman in the world!!!!!
My affection, respect and gratitude,
Lauren.
Thank you so much, Lauren!
Okay, that’s it! Christine, we need to start a movement to get Chanel to bring back Dragon. I’m positive with your readership and fans over on reddit’s MUA, we can get enough people to get their attention. It’s just not fair that such an exceptional red has been taken from us.
haha! I wish 😉
Stunning!
Gorgeous look, healthy, glamorous and classic. I love it. You are amazing.
I know I’m late writing this, but Christmas takes up a lot of time, doesn’t it 🙂
I hope you and everyone else here have had a wonderful Chistmas!
Thank you, Helene!! Happy new year!
Beautiful look! I love the sparkly eyes and that lipstick. It’s a very pretty red

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas… 🙂
Thank you, Poonam!
Wow I stumbled on this post today and this lipstick looks so lovely on you -well, every lip colour looks nice on you (you have to tell us what kind of sorcery this is! haha) but this one really is special. Can you think of any dupes Christine? Thanks!!
Here are all the possible ones I’ve found: http://www.temptalia.com/makeup-dupe-list?d=Dragon&id=98739
Nothing really like it – you could get a really cool-toned red lipstick and apply a gloss with ruby shimmer over it to get closer, IMO!
