Look: Warm Neutrals & Glossy Red Lips for Christmas Day

My Christmas Look (2014)
The fabled Chanel Dragon…

I’ve grown so accustomed to having different eyeshadows on each eye that whenever I apply the same eyeshadows on each eye, I’m a bit taken aback by how it looks to match! I can’t say I wasn’t testing anything on Christmas (namely, the eyeshadows), but I did bring out some of my all-time favorites. 🙂

Look Breakdown

EYES: ColourPop Tea Party applied to inner third of lid, both applied with a narrow brush as well as patted slightly with fingertips. ColourPop Solstice applied to the middle of lid using a medium-sized, eyeshadow brush. ColourPop Sequin applied to the outer third of the lid using the same brush as before. ColourPop To-a-T applied into the outer crease using a synthetic rounded crease brush and buffed above crease towards the brow bone. ColourPop Fleek/Effect (dark brown side) applied into outer crease and diffused slightly above crease. Burberry Trench was dusted underneath the brow bone as a highlighter with a fluffy blending brush. ColourPop Fleek/Effect (teal side) applied with an angled eyeliner brush to the lower lash line with ColourPop Sequin smudged underneath. I used Sephora Blonde Ambition on the water line to brighten.

FACE: Guerlain Parure Gold (02 and 03 mixed equally) mixed with Kevyn Aucoin Celestial applied all-over the face with a flat-topped round, synthetic brush and buffed into the skin. I patted Urban Decay Naked Loose into the skin to help set and finish the base with a tapered powder brush. Tom Ford Love Lust was applied to cheeks to add warmth and color with a feathery blush brush. Kevyn Aucoin Starlight was dusted on top of cheek bones and down the bridge of the nose to highlight. Guerlain Wulong was lightly dusted all-over face to finish the look.

LIPS: Chanel Dragon applied to lips.

Love those red lips and sparkly eyes on you, very holiday! And you look lovely and glowing as usual, I must start mixing some highlighters into my foundation

Beautiful! I love the teal eyeshadow on the lower lash line.

I would be interested in knowing which brushes you used (specifically). I know most of it is skill, but everything is blended beautifully.

I honestly don’t remember, as I just used what I happened to have nearby (I had about 10 minutes to do my makeup, lol!). I’m sure it involved a combination of these, though, as they are what I’ve been using: Chikuhodo GSN-09, Hakuhodo J5523, IT Cosmetics Crease Brush, MAC 266, SUQQU Cheek Brush, Chikuhodo Cheek/Highlight Brush, Wayne Goss Holiday Brush, IT Cosmetics Luxe Foundation Brush.

Thanks Christine. That is really helpful. Is the hakuhodo considerably softer than mac 217. my 217 seems so scratchy after i’ve been using my wayne goss eye brushes, but i love the shape/density of the 217 and WG doesn’t have one that is a close enough match.

Nothing will replace Dragon. I bought Sonia Rykiel’s lip lacquer. I think that may have a similar texture. This brand is discontinuing the line. Bought it at Ichibankao.

You look absolutely stunning and radiant in this whole look that you put together! Just gorgeous! I’ll bet it felt really nice to have both eyes match for a change, what you go through with testing all these different products for us is an act of utmost dedication on your part. I know that I could never do what you do, it would send my perfectionistic OCD into a tailspin! Thank you for all that you do for us all out here.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE when you do full make up looks, complete with instructions!! Thanks so much! You look lovely! I always like your holiday looks… wish Dragon was still available of course!

Very pretty look Christine. I always love how you look with teal eyeliner on the lower lash line. You always choose the most flattering teal shade. The Guerlain Wulong and Chanel Dragon combo are a force to be reckoned with! Thanks for all your hard work. Looking forward to 2015!

Wow thats a gorgeous look! I love how soft and pretty those shadows look. So impressed by colorpop so far! Dragon looked so much warmer on me when I did try it out when it was available. Too bad coz that is just the PERFECT shade of red on you! Merry Christmas & a very happy new year to you and yours Chrisitne:)

Hehe, technically, warm(ish) neutrals was what I did too! That lipstick is *gorgeous*… I can see why it’s fabled ;-). I ended up extending the sparkly neutrals to Marc Jacobs Have We Met on the lips, because it was too hot to be bothered managing red lipstick, LOL! There are some definite advantages to a cooler Christmastime 😀

Oh my goodness… You must know:
The look that you created is absolutely stunning!
Your hair is SO full, shiny and sparkling!
YOU are one hundred percent gorgeous!
Honestly, I bet your husband didn’t limit himself to contemplate your beauty and said: my wife is the most beautiful woman in the world!!!!!
My affection, respect and gratitude,
Lauren.

Okay, that’s it! Christine, we need to start a movement to get Chanel to bring back Dragon. I’m positive with your readership and fans over on reddit’s MUA, we can get enough people to get their attention. It’s just not fair that such an exceptional red has been taken from us.

Stunning!
Gorgeous look, healthy, glamorous and classic. I love it. You are amazing.
I know I’m late writing this, but Christmas takes up a lot of time, doesn’t it 🙂
I hope you and everyone else here have had a wonderful Chistmas!
