Lisa Eldridge Velvet Jazz & Velvet Morning Plush True Velvet Lipstick Colour Review & Swatches
Velvet Jazz
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Jazz Plush True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a deeper, warm red with a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across my lips without tugging on them. The consistency was lightweight, creamy enough to be comfortable to apply but not enough that it felt slippery on, and had some velvety quality to it that gave it a very plush feel on. This shade stayed on well for over six hours and was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be a "creamy, hydrating matte with a slight sheen" that is "long wearing and non drying." The three shades launched to-date are very pigmented with a lightly creamy, velvety texture that is thicker (but not heavy!) compared to the Insanely Saturated formula but has a similar velvety quality--smooth, glides on but doesn't feel wet or slippery at all.
The colors went on evenly and smoothly and were more flattering on (less prone to emphasizing lip texture or lip lines) than the average matte lipstick. They wear was between five and seven hours well, and they felt neither drying nor hydrating over time. There is no scent or taste to the formula.

Velvet Jazz
LELimited Edition. $36.00.
Velvet Morning
Lisa Eldridge Velvet Morning Plush True Velvet Lipstick Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a rich, medium-dark orange-red with strong, warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which went on fairly evenly, but it was more prone to separating along my lip lines and did not go on smoothly on my upper lip as I anticipated. The texture was lightweight, creamy without being too emollient, and was comfortable to apply and to wear–it felt like the other two in the range but the application wasn’t as good. It wore nicely for six hours and was neither drying nor hydrating while worn.

What is on the edges of the lipstick? There’s like this super cool grid pattern. I remember seeing it on the Jessica rabbit lipstick Ciate did a while back too 😮
It’s just the texture of the formula!
Lisa Eldridge made the outsides of the lipstick look like velvet to go with her velvet theme. It’s really impressive looking in person. The lipstick literally looks like it’s made of velvet.
These are beautiful lipsticks. Both shades suit me well. Am planning to purchase both when they restock.
Any possibility of my having lemmings for either one has been effectively quashed by the dupe list. Which is actually a *good* thing, really! Admittedly, Velvet Morning is that perfect orange-red that’s my cup of tea in summer.
I bought these on the initial release and the texture around the lipstick is completely different! Mine looks like brushed suede whereas this looks like imprinted patterns.
These are from the original release – I bought mine when they first launched but they sold out so fast, and with it being the holiday season, had many other lip products go review!
Oh, odd! I’m surprised how different they look. Is there a certain level of magnification on the photo?
All of my photos are shot with a macro lens.
I knew I would love Velvet Jazz and I do. Beautiful shade.
Both of these are gorgeous reds. I especially love Velvet Morning.
I don’t know, but looking at Velvet Jazz, came in my mind CHANEL Dragon 75 in a less glossy quality.
The shades are both beautiful, but I already have more reds than I can ever use. I love the texture on the outside of the lipstick (not that it really matters). And I love the name Velvet Morning because it reminds me of the weirdly awesome Nancy Sinatra/Lee Hazelwood song from the 1960s, “Some Velvet Morning.”
Thanks for this! I now know that my collection is covered with Lady Danger in place of Velvet Morning. You’re the real MVP! 😉
Hi Christine, do you find the formula for Velvet Jazz to be something special and unique, or is it comparable to something else already on the market?
Please see my last comment — I just answered this! 🙂
I was a little bummed when I missed these the first round, but now that I know I already have some quite similar shades I guess I can skip the restock. I passed on the pinks as well (not that they weren’t absolutely stunning, just that I wasn’t feeling pink this season) but I’m sure the lovely Lisa *will* snare me at some point.
It seems like the brand is moving forward (not just the one-off release), so I’m sure there’ll be more down the line!
Velvet Morning is the one of her reds that definitely suits me best, and it’s the only one I bought last year but I’m definitely going back for the others when it relaunches. I know there are a million warm reds on the market but this one just looks SO amazing on me. It just glows.
Mmmm….Velvet Jazz…..
Hello, I would like to know if velvet jazz which is deeper goes to cracked lines? I’m afraid to buy it because I own an enaturage lipstick from lipstick queen and it looks black in my cracked lips..so I wonder if this is the same with all dark lipsticks. Hm..thanks for your help.❤
Hi Ana,
Please check the reviews above — if I have any issues with products settling into lip lines, it would be noted in the review!
