Lancome Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner ($23.00 for 0.042 oz.) is supposed to be a richly pigmented, long-wearing (24 hour wear, no seriously, that’s how it’s marketed), waterproof, and creamy pencil eyeliner. I bought four shades to try–two shimmery, two more matte–and I’m reviewing the two shimmery shades in this post. The texture of the pencils is moderately creamy and doesn’t tug, so they apply nicely and lay down decently color in a single pass. The wear was all over the place for the eyeliners I happened to buy, from five hours to twelve hours. There is still color intact even after fifteen hours, but it was always significantly thinner.

Lancome Paradis Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner ($23.00 for 0.042 oz.) is described as a “pearlized tropical green.” It’s a medium-dark, bluish-teal with sparkle over a frosted sheen. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque pigmentation in one stroke, though it was buildable to more opaque coverage with two to three layers. This shade flakes severely on me, throughout the day, after four to five hours of wear. There was still noticeable color left behind ten hours later, but there were also tons of small teal flakes underneath my eyes, and some of those flakes ended up in my eyes over the course I wore the liner for. This is, of course, the most obviously “me” color, and as much as I wanted to love it, it did not love me at all. This was the worst-performing of the four I tested. It’s so rare for me to test an eyeliner and have it flake off on me, and in vain, I tried this one half a dozen times and got the same results each time. Marc Jacobs Beauty Ody(sea) (62) (P, $26.00) is brighter, cooler (90% similar). Make Up For Ever #52L (LE, $19.00) is darker (90% similar). Makeup Geek Ocean (DC, $9.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC New Marine (P, $17.00)(90% similar). Sephora Waterfall (DC, $10.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Marc Jacobs Beauty Gemstoned (P, $24.00) is darker (90% similar). Urban Decay Overdrive (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Haus Labs Empire (P, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (80% similar). Urban Decay Deep End (P, $22.00) is less shimmery, lighter, cooler (80% similar). Sephora Good Mood (DC, $10.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). Urban Decay Electric Empire (P, $22.00) is darker, cooler (80% similar). Sephora Fairytale (DC, $10.00) is less shimmery, darker (80% similar). Stila Jade (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer (80% similar). MAC Blue Noon (LE, $16.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Lancome Lamé Drama Liqui-Pencil Longwear Eyeliner ($23.00 for 0.042 oz.) is described as a “metallic white gold.” It’s a light, champagne gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff with a moderately waxy, thin base, which seemed to make it harder to apply evenly or layer for opaque coverage. The more I applied, the more uneven it appeared. The wear was better, and I didn’t encounter flaking as this thinned over time. On me, this shade wore for ten hours well before it really started to fade/thin. Estee Lauder Pearl (P, $28.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood (Metallic) (PiP, ) is more shimmery, darker (95% similar). Sephora Blonde Ambition (DC, $10.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Venus (DC, $22.00) is cooler (90% similar). MAC Chilled (DC, $16.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Snowed In (P, $17.00) is cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Space Dust (PiP, $22.00) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Oh no! Well, I can’t wait to see your review of the more matte ones because I *really* want to try them. The 24 hr wear is obviously a ridiculous claim, but when I’ve swatched them on the back of my hand, they are hard to remove! I was supposed to get one with a 500 point perk from Sephora but the pencil arrived with the cap on the wrong end and therefore was completely dried out. (I still don’t know how the cap was put on the wrong end. It’s not like it could have fallen off and firmly reattached itself on the other end…)

Oh yikes! I was curious about these, as Sephora had this as a Merry Mini giveaway in Ampoule, a purple. Paradis is such a unique color, and totally you, how awful that it flakes like crazy 🙁 I wonder if other people are having same issues with this one

This teal looks so pretty, too bad it doesn’t work.
An eye pen like this here is sold 30-35 chf (30-35 €). Crazy price for that kind of quality.

Lancôme was one of the 1st “luxury” makeup products I bought when I was young. I’d like to like it. But I’ve never found any HG product from it. Most of time it was deception.
The Lancôme art-liners for example, people raved about it. I bought one, and didn’t liked it. It’s as if you put a sticker on your lids, I can feel it. In comparison the Chanel liner don’t give the same feeling. I don’t like Lancôme products’ formulas.
So for many years now, I just stopped passing by their counter, lost interest on this brand, and stopped buying any products from them. Also Lamcome’s price is very similar to Guerlain and Dior here. So I just prefer to focus on brands (Guerlain, Dior, YSL, etc) that I like by experience.
I really hope that Lancôme will make some improvement on the quality of their products.

Christine, are you normal to dry skin type? Because I’m oily and these are the only kind of liner that will stay, especially in the waterline. I wonder if skin type has anything to do with it. NOTHING stays on me, not even UD’s pencil liners, Marc Jacobs, Nars, nothing.

Every single thing I’ve tried from Lancome has been an awful mess, except for that lavender- grey nail polish that they sell. I don’t even look in their direction anymore haha!

That’s a shame that Paradis didn’t perform too well. It’s a beautiful colour. I have the Marc Jacobs Beauty Highliner in Intro(vert), which is gorgeous colour but in the swatches it looks a good bit more green that Paradis. I still love it though.

I may get one of the dupes one day but for now I’m not so much on a no buy as I’m just not really wanting to buy anymore makeup. Now I just want to use up what I have. It would make me feel like I’ve accomplished something! Not that I haven’t finished stuff before but I’ve never finished a lipstick, blush or eyeshadow (although I have hit pan on a few)! ?

I’m very glad I didn’t pick up Paradis. I have Lame, Baroque, Macaron, and Cote D’Azure and I loooooooooove them. They are the only pencils I’ve ever found that actually stay put. I have to really work to get the off at the end of the night they stay put so beautifully. I was going to continue collecting these pencils, but I think I’ll be staying away from Paradis.

Awwww so bummed!!! A couple of the shades, like this one, were really truly unique, which is hard to come by these days! I swatched Paradis and a handful of other gorgeous shades they came out with in Sephora last month, and almost bought this one but decided to wait…so glad I did! Other people must have had this problem too Christine, this makes me think Sephora deleted the negative reviews. (Like I’ve heard rumors of here and other places) I HATE the shadiness of this industry sometimes.
