Kat Von D Bachelorette Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “dark reddish fuchsia.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark pinky-red with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation that went on really smoothly and evenly, making it an easy shade to apply and work with. The color felt a little drying after six and a half hours of wear, but it was still going strong at the eight-hour mark as far as color went. Hourglass Muse (P, $28.00) is lighter, brighter, warmer. Make Up For Ever #37 (P, $19.00) is glossier. MAC La Vie En Rouge (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Bobbi Brown Watermelon (P, $26.00) is lighter, cooler. NARS Grace (P, $32.00) is glossier. ColourPop Ouiji (P, $6.00) is lighter, more muted. Chanel La Petillante (49) (LE, $34.00) is glossier. ColourPop Succulent (P, $6.00) is warmer. ColourPop Toucan (P, $5.00) is lighter, cooler. ColourPop Mars (P, $6.00) is cooler. Marc Jacobs Beauty Je t’aime (238) (P, $30.00) is warmer, glossier. Marc Jacobs Beauty So Sofia (236) (P, $30.00) is lighter, brighter, glossier. Kat Von D Lolita II Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “chestnut rose.” It’s a muted, medium-dark rosy brown with subtle, neutral-to-warm undertones and a matte finish. It had really good color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. The texture was lightweight and comfortable to wear with a soft, pliable dry down so it didn’t look “cracked” when you smiled. The color lasted for almost eight hours in all, though it felt slightly drying around five and a half hours of wear. Urban Decay 1993 (P, $22.00) is darker, glossier. Maybelline Nude Nuance (P, $7.99) is darker, warmer. Maybelline Clay Crush (P, $7.99) is lighter. MAC Whirl (P, $16.00) is warmer. ColourPop Bumble (P, $6.00) is darker, cooler. MAC Spice (LE, $16.00) is glossier. MAC Bad Girl RiRi (LE, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Kat Von D Vampira Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep reddish burgundy.” It’s a blackened burgundy with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a very dried appearance after the liquid set, which emphasized the lines of the lips more. It could have applied more evenly, and I think a second layer would have helped this one overall. The color lasted for eight hours but was a bit drying after five hours of wear. Maybelline Burgundy Blush (P, $7.99) is lighter. ColourPop Lax (P, $6.00) is darker. MAC Antique Velvet (P, $16.00) is darker, glossier. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Anita (P, $18.00) is darker, glossier. MAC Legendary (LE, $16.00) is glossier. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA SUMMARY | Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick ($20.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “long-wear, full coverage liquid lipstick with a smooth, matte finish.” Of the liquid lipsticks on the market that go and have a full dry-down, Kat Von D’s formula remains my favorite, as it is the easiest to apply with the kindest learning curve and lasts awhile. Some shades are more drying than others, but typically they don’t get drying until after five to six hours of wear. They often wear anywhere from six to ten hours, depending on what you’ve had to eat or drink during the day. This formula is thin but not watery, has a longer dry down than most liquid lipsticks (but I noticed some of the newer shades dried to a mostly dry finish faster), and layers better than most (you can touch-up or add a second layer for more coverage). It takes about a minute for it to mostly set, but it will remain a little tacky in places for up to three minutes so you’ll want to avoid pressing your lips together if it doesn’t seem totally dry initially. There isn’t a noticeable scent or taste. If you don’t mind the trade-off between very long, near-pristine wear and being drying, it’s worth checking out. As a bonus, these also come with one of the most generous amounts of products within the realm of liquid lipsticks!

Other than OCC John Doe (and that, just for the color), I’ve never really been tempted by liquid lipsticks because I can’t imagine putting something on my lips that’s meant to last that long — I drink coffee and water continuously, snack, and occasionally bite my lips. But … the ultimate MLE (my lips exactly) color of Lolita makes me think it might be worth it to create an even, finished look, and if I wear it off in the center over the day you probably wouldn’t be able to tell.

Lolita is pretty! I can see why that’s a favorite. Vampira is well-named, does it have some gold, or is that just the lighting?

EvilsStepQueen Avatar

I found that Vampira has a weird gold…luminescence to it. It’s not quite a sheen, it’s like an odd patina that shows up once it dries.

Bonnie Avatar

I was wondering the exact same thing – that subtle gold reflect in it makes it look really interesting and alluring to me! It IS aptly named. But, I wouldn’t pay the full price for it because of the quality issues. Not that it’s poor quality, it’s just not as good as the other shades in the range so that’s a bummer. All three of these shades look so good on you Christine!

Bonnie Avatar

That is such an apt description of it -that it’s so many shades at once! I went back and looked at it and through the dupes and there are like NO exact dupes for it! It really is unique and beautiful, and since I’m not a big fan of ultra mattes, I hope more companies release this shade (and more shades like Bite’s Barberry while they’re at it!) 😉

Pinky reds are my favourite lipstick colour behind mlbb and peachy colours, so of course Bachelorette catches my eye.

Also the site redesign looks gorgeous! It took me a little while to get used to it (I tend to be resistant to change…) but you don’t seem to have removed any functionality like so many other sites do – it’s great!

Bachelorette is a fun one! 🙂

Thanks, A! That is great to hear. It is a lot of change for sure, and I can even relate — the process for me behind-the-scenes is different, and even though I’ve certain used the newer format for the Swatch Gallery (that’s the feature I personally use 24/7), I haven’t USED it as I do full-time so I’m still getting used to it as well!

I have one of the “Old” color and two of the new batch. LOL! Plus the studded kiss lipstick, which I don’t reach for as often as I should…

Bachelorette is gorgeous! Glad I have MAC La Vie En Rouge as it’s dupe!
And Lolita looks so much better than almost all these liquid mattes hitting the market of late, but I still don’t believe I could ever wear a liquid matte because of living in a desert climate. Thank goodness, though, that Bobby Brown has Uber Nude as a great dupe! Also, Burberry has a nice one too. Just a heads up: the pic for UD 1993 wasn’t showing up. Probably just a minor glitch working itself out, lol!

Ginny Avatar

All of these were on my radar. I think I’ll try Lolita. I think Vampira’s application looks great. But I have a few vampy lipsticks and their pigmentation helps them stick around so I don’t know if I really need a liquid version. I so want like two of these but I keep coming to the conclusion that I don’t really need them. Will you do a round up post? I’m curious which ones are your personal faves, if any.

Erika Avatar

I bought Lolita but returned it because the color wasn’t flattering on my NC 40 skintone. I also tried Exorcism but couldn’t get it to stay on longer than 3hrs. I guess I’ll just stick to Stila liquid lipstick.

Sheb Avatar

Bachelorette and Berlin are my favourites of the older range. 🙂 Lolita looks SO gorgeous on you! I’m rather jealous. :p I finally tracked down Lolita 2-3 weeks ago and it’s just brown on me without any of the nuances. Sad face.

Sarah Avatar

Also would like to add that I do find the formula too dry for my likings but I love the colors so I just throw on a coat of moisturizer! 🙂
