Cloud 9

JD Glow Cloud 9 Pressed Powder Illuminator ($16.50 for 0.28 oz.) is a pale, almost iridescent blue that shifted between aqua-blue to cooler, almost bluish-violet. It had more of a translucent base when blended out, and it had a more luminous sheen.

The texture was soft, a little powdery but blendable and easy enough to work with using a dry brush. It worked better over bare skin or set foundation as slightly damp, liquid foundation caked up with this on top. The highlighter had nearly opaque color coverage that could be built up or sheered out depending on one’s preferences. It lasted well for eight hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview

$16.50/0.28 oz. - $58.93 Per Ounce

The highlighter formula runs nearly opaque to opaque with moderate to intense luminosity. A couple of the more metallic shades can emphasize skin texture when worn at higher coverage levels, but for the most part, the glow was intense, shiny, and reflective without emphasizing my natural texture.

The consistency felt smooth, lightweight, and thin without being powdery or too firmly-pressed into the pan, so it wasn't messy to use while picking up readily with a typical highlighter brush. There was a creaminess and some slip to it that made it feel almost like a cream-powder but was definitely a powder product. The highlighter applied evenly to bare skin, blended out with ease, and lasted between eight and nine hours before fading on me.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Because I already know that this would look totally hideous on me personally, it gets one great big giant nope from me.
On the other hand, I could see this working very nicely on two specific skintone types: either extremely rich, almost blue-black cool toned peeps or very pale, icy cool toned ones, too.

I like ‘offbeat’ HLs and love when a product has a greater suggestion of color than of shine or metal. Those products can sneak a bit of color in, in a fairly subtle way. All set with the Fenty, which also includes Sand Castle, a fairly universal and far more neutral shade.

I can’t use that formula on my cheeks, which is a bummer, but if I could that’s a shade I’d pick up all day!

Also I LOVE the yellow and purple eye look!
