Quick Review: Jack Black Lip Balm Trio

Jack Black It’s the Balm Lip Balm Trio ($19.50 for 0.75 oz.) includes three full-sized flavors of Jack Black’s Intense Therapy Lip Balm. Two of the three flavors are limited edition (at present) — when I inquired as to whether they would be made permanent, the brand indicated that it would see what customers’ response was. It’s a terrific stocking stuffer and an overall good deal, as individually sold versions are $7 a pop ($21 for 3).

I’m a huge fan of this lip balm.  I have one in every room, my purse, my car… you name it.  I think there are three on my nightstand, actually!  Super moisturizing, comfortable to wear, and lasts for hours.

  • Natural Mint is minty-fresh with a slight tingle (but nothing burning or uncomfortable in the least). After much trialing, I think Natural Mint is my personal favorite.
  • Black Tea & Blackberry is a sweetened berry-scented balm with a slight sweetness to taste.
  • Grapefruit & Ginger smells like grapefruit; not overly sweet, strong citrus notes, and it even tastes a bit like grapefruit.

Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

If you want to know more about how products are evaluated, read out Rating System FAQ! 🙂

  • Product: 30/30

RECOMMENDATION: Yes, yes, yes!  I recommend these to everybody who wears lip balm!

These are my favorite! After you raving about them I picked up the two pack at Sephora for $10. It comes with the Mint and a Vanilla Lavendar. Love them both and they seriously work on my dry lips!

I REALLY hope they make the 2 limited edition flavours permanent because they don’t sell them in Canada and I don’t want to pay $20 to ship it from Nordstrom!!

Lucky Nordstrom shoppers.

I would buy Jack Black from The BAY since Sephora in store never caries the line in Canada. I’m totally love it it this winter and the fact it’s all natural other then the Sunblock.

Black Tea & Blackberry would be fun, I’m current using Lemon & Chamomile and it smells like the tea blend. I would love to see a pomegranate one made.

Just ordered this trio! So excited. It’s the only thing that keeps my dry flaky lips in check. The only flavour I’ve tried so far is Lemon Chamomile though, and I find the smell revolting…hopefully the other flavours will be better!

Natural Mint, is just mint and most people will find it apprealing.

Chamomile is off putting for some people. I drink tea a lot except Orange Pekoe (black) and got use to it.

This is, hands down, the best lip balm out there. I always stock up when Sephora has 20% off sales. I’ve tried cheaper brands, more expensive brands, name brands, indie brands, but nothing comes close to Jack Black for moisturizing, softening, and soothing lips. And, because these are part of a men’s line, they don’t leave your lips looking shiny or goopy the way so many women’s balms do. Love! Love! Love!

Glad to see this lip balm that you like so much, it must be good if you rave about it! Would love to try it if I ever come across it here in Canada. I have lots and lots of them but none that works that well …

This has become my new favorite lip balm since you introduced us to it! I love that it has a jelly consistency, because waxy balms always dry out my lips, no matter how moisturizing the ingredients. Its also less harsh than Carmex, which has camphor in it; heals me up, but constant application tends to burn in a bad way! I wish Nordies was closer than a 1 1/2 hours away from me, I’d LOVE to try these flavors. Maybe I will order them…

I recently bought the Jack Black Beard Lube for my boyfriend, after he butchered his face trying to dry shave quickly before work (le sigh). If he likes it, I might get him some of their other products. Has your SO tried any of they guys skincare out before?

I just bought two of these Christine! I LOVE Jack Black and it’s been a favorite of mine for years. My friend works at CVS and gave me the 30% F&F coupon so I scored both sets for only $15 because I combined it with some Extra Bucks and coupons I had. =P (They have these at Beauty 360)

I don’t know whyyyyy Sephora isn’t having the sets of 3 this year. Every year during their F&F sale, I pick up 2 or 3 to last me the year -I was able to get one of the duo sets though for $10.

Haven’t tried them yet though because I’m trying to finish my 2 tubes that are currently open -Lemon & Chamomile and Vanilla & Lavender.

I picked up the two for $10 pack at Sephora, and I think Natural Mint is my favorite too!! It really is moisturizing and I can’t wait to try out other flavors, lol.

I’ve used up almost all of my natural mint and to be honest, I haven’t been as impressed as you. I apply it every night before bed and sometimes during the day, but still have dry and peeling lips. 🙁

kali Avatar

Tiffany, how often do you apply it? I use it about 3 times a day (with a very generous layer before bed) and it works great for me! If that doesn’t work, maybe try Pangea Organics’ Lip Balm -those are AMAZING. A bit pricey.. but I love them almost as much as Jack Black. =)

I just wanted to say thanks so much for recommending these! I bought them based on this review and they are now my absolute HG lip balms. They’re so great!

Thanks a lot, Christine! I bought this one in Natural Mint and now as it is almost finished my hubby reminds me every day that I have to order a bunch of them asap :)) We are both in love and just wish it could be more available here in Russia. Still need to look for workarounds to grab them.
