Quick Review: Benefit The Porefessional
Benefit The Porefessional ($28.00 for 0.75 oz.) is supposed to minimize the appearance of pores. It is a translucent balm that you can apply under or over makeup. Benefit says when applying it under makeup, to apply to clean, lightly moisturized skin, then pat on problem areas and blend with fingertips. For over makeup, pat on lightly over makeup and blend. (Doesn’t sound so different, eh?)
Please note that I did not test this on the face for an extended period of time, due to a sensitivity to dimethicone (second ingredient in The Porefessional). I only applied it to see whether my pores looked minimized. I left it on the back of my hand, and the effect lasted noticeably for four hours.
Porefessional seems to apply a soft focus lens over your skin, which gives it the appearance of a softer, smoother, and less-pore-filled. I wouldn’t say my pores vanish instantly, but they are definitely minimized, which is the goal. It is similar to MAC’s Prep + Prime Line Filler as well as bears some resemblance to face primers in general. It has a silkier texture, though, and it helps to mattify the skin as well. The product works to give skin a little help by minimizing textural issues, which pores can sometimes contribute to. It works pretty well, and it did a nice job of disguising some of the pores on the side of my nose.
Welcome to Swatch-all-idays! To start 2011 off on the right foot (or post, as it may be!), Temptalia is going through a backlog of products we have photographed, swatched, and often tested but in a slightly different manner. Quick reviews may be partially incomplete, such as a blush may only be swatched on the arm rather than shown on the face. It is our hope that what we are able to provide is still helpful!

Awesome!
Just what I need. 🙂
This is actually the same as the Dr Brandt Pores No More primer, but it works out cheaper, going to be switching to this.
Too faced primed and poreless is also very similar. and gives more product for the money
I agree they are similar, and I was a dedicated P&P user, but I switched to this and like it a WHOLE lot better.
I don’t think I need this because I don’t have issues with pores, but I like to use Dr. Feelgood as a primer.
I’m not allergic to any silicone ingredients in any way, shape, or form, but when I had my eyebrows done at Benefit’s Brow Bar, they did my makeup for me. They used this on my face, and everywhere they put it I broke out in HORRIBLE hives. I’ve never had an allergic reaction to anything before! It was so itchy and painful :(. Needless to say I definitely won’t be using this, which is too bad… it really made my face look smoother (before the hives set in).
It may hide pores temporarily but with all those pores, it’s a pore clogger – I bet with continued use pores get worse. I break out and get big black heads and blocked pores when I use silicones like this.
Some people do, but tons and tons of people have no problem using silicones 🙂
Yes, it sucks that some of us do have problems with it! 🙁 So many things we have to avoid.
I use this primer and I do like it very much. It keeps my skin matte for quite a while which is great, as I have T-Zone oiliness even in colder months. I tend to use this or Blanc de Chanel under my base. (The Blanc de Chanel is more for times that my skin is too red, in the winter.)
Hello Christine, I’ve been followed your blog for months 😛 It’s very very interesting reading your blog everyday XD
Your review is awesome 😀 anw, I’m planning to get this. Philosophy The Present didn’t work for me, though. It couldn’t cover my pores, and it makes me oily since I have pretty oily skin (: so do you think porefessional will work better than Philosophy the present? Can it be worn over tinted moisturizer, or before sounds much better? 😀
thank you and have a nice day <3
It works well both before or after! 🙂
I absolutely love this product! I compare it a lot to perfekt skin perfecting gel, for more than half the price!
hi, I just want to ask XD is it somehow good at oil controlling? (:
I have tried this, Too Faced Primed and Poreless, and Urban Decay’s version (forget the name at the moment) and I felt that none of them made enough of a difference. (enough to justify the price) Guess what blew them all out of the water? L’oreal Magic Perfecting Base. It does what the others claimed to do better on my skin. I have really large pores. Magic Base actually gives my skin a blurry look to it- makes pores look about half as small and it covers the shine that my skin has right after cleansing & exfoliating. Everyone’s skin is different but I was really amazed, maybe it’ll help someone else.
This is one of my favorite products in the world. It works wonders on my t-zone and I would highly recommend to anyone.
This product certainly works very well, and I would definitely recommend it. However, to be truly honest, the one that has worked best on me is Clarins’ Lisse Minute (price more or less the same): texture, coverage…a must.
