Hourglass When I'm Alone, If I Could, I Hide My Confession Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
When I'm Alone
Hourglass When I’m Alone Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.03 oz.) is a deep plum with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had good pigmentation, though it wasn’t full coverage, with a smooth, even color application. The consistency was lightweight, creamy without being slippery, and it sat well on the lips. The lipstick never tugged on the lips, and the color did not feather over time but had a miniscule amount of color that settled into my deepest lip line after a couple of hours of wear (but I could smooth it back out if desired). On me, this shade stayed on well for six hours and left a subtle stain behind while being somewhat moisturizing.
The formula is supposed to have “creamy, saturated, longwearing color with a satin finish.” It’s a light-medium thick formula that was typically opaque with a lightly creamy texture that glided on without tugging but did not slide around while worn. The majority of shades had a natural to satin finish, and they lasted anywhere from four to seven hours with light hydration. The best performing shades were light to dark while the lightest and deepest shades weren’t quite as consistent.
The lipstick can be purchased with the full packaging/applicator for $34 or as a refill-only for $22. The refill packaging is substantial enough that it is usable on its own, as there’s a detachable base that the refillable cap clicks onto (with an audible click), but they are very slim–and that’s not a surprise given they only contain 0.03 oz. making them one of the smaller lipsticks on the market. Slim lipsticks typically contain around 0.07 oz. of product and are usually smaller than the average standard lipstick tube (which tends to be between 0.10 and 0.12 oz.).

If I Could
Hourglass If I Could Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.03 oz.) is a brighter, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a creamy, lightly glossy finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was slightly buildable but had a more emollient quality to the texture that made it less amenable to building up. It was easy to apply, never tugged as I glided it across the lips, but it had a noticeable translucency from the more slippery consistency. The lipstick applied evenly, though, which was an upside. It wore well for five and a half hours, was somewhat hydrating, and left a very subtle stain behind.

I Hide My
Hourglass I Hide My Confession Ultra Slim High Intensity Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.03 oz.) is a deep, muted berry with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, creamy consistency that covered the lips evenly and felt comfortable to apply and to wear. The color adhered well to the lips so it lasted for over six hours, left a slight stain behind, and was lightly moisturizing overall. I did not experience any feathering with this shade when I tested it.

The price comparisons are fascinating. My goodness, these are expensive!
They are 🙁
The colors are beautiful but the price just kills me!
I know!
Each one of these shades is right up my alley. Obviously, I’m not going to buy all three… I mean, that would just be crazy…
They are beauties, though I think you could probably narrow it down 😉
I can’t be the only one wondering if Hourglass is high?? I’m sure the formula is lovely BUT this is literally twice as much (given the cost per oz) as a Chanel Rouge Stylo!! Also, and as one of the other readers pointed out on another post (so sorry ladies, can’t recall which of you it was) this makes the Cle de Peau lipsticks look like a bargain. OMG. I feel like I just had a mini-blackout, and I am known to overpay for makeup to get what I want. What am I missing on this one. LOL.
And to add on to my previous comment, .03 oz is literally a deluxe size sample. That is LITERALLY the size of the Tom Ford freebie lipstick that I was offered in an email from Sephora yesterday (with a purchase of course). WTF Hourglass??? Put down the rolling papers, the bottle, the glue gun, whatever it is that caused this pricing. I’m not even mad, I’m literally laughing over the price. How many of us have been saying over the last handful of years it seems that brands are seeing how high they can push prices and see at what point we’ll stop paying for it. Good grief. Go get the Chanel Stylo instead cos… it’s CHANEL. 😀 (Or maybe the CdP lipsticks…I hear that are a bargain!)
I honestly wonder if they paid attention to it? I’ve just always heard that the packaging is the more expensive part, whereas just filling with more lipstick is a much smaller cost.
Very true but…if I’m paying that much for packaging I’ll break my vow never to buy a $95 lipstick and just get a Louboutin. 😉 Thanks so much for reviewing these anyway! 😀
At $1,133 per oz, thank goodness for the dupe list! I can almost buy an oz of gold for that much money
Yep!
While looking at dupes for “If I Could”, I realized that if I mix my Sí, Sí Me with my VG III, I can replicate this shade dead-on! For any shade of Confession Lipsticks, I will be looking to see what I can mix and mingle what I already have.
Perfection!
Hi Christine, thank you for the introduction, assessment and price comparisons for these lipsticks. They do look lovely however the price per oz causes me pause, especially with so many dupes. I’m holding for now.
No problem, Tracey! 🙂
They’re all so similar yet I want them all anyway lol. They just look so beautiful on you! Plus they’re all perfect for fall which is right around the corner now. I may have to grab one!
Yeah, this grouping is hard to tell the difference if you aren’t looking closely!
What does it say about the makeup industry that when I saw the title of this post, I thought there was just one lipstick called “When I’m Alone, If I Could, I Hide My Confession” and that seemed perfectly normal to me?
Ha! Well, that would be quite the lengthy name at the very least…
Funny, I read it the same way at first! 🙂
Beautiful lipsticks, but oh so expensive!
I just looked up colourpop lippie stix (cos they’re tiny also and I wanted to see how they compare) and they have 0.005oz more product, that’s insane! These are crazy 🙁
I’m loving these, but what the hell are they thinking?! These prices just made me fall from my chair. C’mon, it’s ridiculous.
Gorgeous berry colors and finish, but the price feels almost…disrespectful.
