Holiday Makeup Ideas | Pops of Color
ColourPop It's My Pleasure
Next in my ode to the holiday makeup season, this set of color combination ideas is focused on pulling in stronger, more colorful hues. If you missed part one, I’m pulling color combinations from past and present pre-made palettes along with some picks using single shades that will hopefully inspire some of your holiday makeup looks this season. The next (and final) part will be focused on darker, smokier, and slightly cooler-toned looks!
About This Series
Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.
You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

These combinations are so pretty!!!
My mom’s side’s Christmas party is tomorrow. I don’t have any Sydney Grace shadows and thus can’t wear the exact shades, but I’m doing something like A Chilling Shift!
Yes! I hope you like how it turns out, Nikki!
My Chilling Shift color duplicates were the icy pink shade (#2, top middle) from the original Huda Gemstone Obsessions palette, the Aquarius and Sagittarius shimmers from the BH Cosmetics Zodiac palette (Aquarius gold, Sag green), and UD Fringe from my beloved Electric palette. I chose to modify the application, using pink all over the eye, Aquarius from lashline to crease, Sag in crease, and Fringe as an eyeliner. I added Tarte Mistletoe bronzer (from this year’s 9 Ways to Shine cheek wardrobe) as blush and a mix of UD Scorched and L’Oreal Collection Exclusive Doutzen’s Pink lipsticks. The look went over really well!
Thank you so much for sharing, Nikki! So glad that everything turned out well! 🙂
