Guerlain Madame Flirte (861) & Madame Reve (862) Rouge G Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain Madame Flirte (861) Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Madame Flirte (861) Rouge G Lipstick

Guerlain Madame Flirte (861) Rouge G Lipstick ($49.50 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “fruity red.” It’s a medium-dark, coral-red with a soft, pearly finish and warm undertones. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and it wore well for five and a half hours and was hydrating while worn. It lightly stains as it wears away. The consistency was lightly creamy and easy to apply. Chanel Dialogue is redder, darker. Revlon Wild Watermelon is very similar. Maybelline Shocking Coral is pinker, brighter. MAC Fusion Pink is iridescent. Guerlain Rouge Sensuel is redder. Guerlain Chamade is lighter, sheerer. See comparison swatches.

Madame Reve (862) Rouge G Lipstick ($49.50 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, medium pink with subtle cool undertones and pearly finish. It had a soft sheen that gave it a luminous look. The color coverage was mostly opaque, and this shade lasted four and a half hours on me and was moisturizing while worn. .  I sent an inquiry over to see if we can get clarification on this.  MAC Pleasurefruit is brighter. Urban Decay Turn On is lighter, cool-toned. MAC Speak Louder is darker. MAC Plumful is less pink. See comparison swatches.

Updated @ 10:49AM PST: The third fall color is indeed Madame Reve (862) and not Madame Fascine (863) (which does not exist).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

Both of these are beautiful! I like the slightly sheer juicy finish. Less need for the precision application you require with heavier more opaque lipstick. These read a little more casual to me.

When I swatched Madame Flirte Side my side on my hand at the weekend it is very close dupe for Guerlain Rouge G in Sensual from Series Noire Collection and the MAC Viva Glam Cyndi Lipstick! I am still glad I got it though, these softer reds are my favourites!

I love both of these and they are hydrating! If anyone asks why I am $100 poorer it’s Christine’s fault :). Gotta have someone to blame right? That way I can be in denial about my makeup obsession! Seriously though, thanks Christine for such in depth honest reviews—usually before anyone reviews it too!

Zainub Avatar

They both are simply stunning yea? If I go broke with make up altogether I shall let Christine explain, then everyone else will be as broke as I am lol. The in-depth reviews are clearly much appreciated, so thank you from everyone who’s read and seen ’em (even though they haven’t commented or subscribed, I was one of those girls for 4 years x_x).

The Guerlain counters in my country don´t have them either 🙁 , I guess we will have to wait until actual fall season, September, October…

Precious Avatar

Yes, but good things come to those who wait. 😀 Guerlain has a small market in my country, since most people aren’t keen on purchasing from high-end brands due to the price increase. There’s no need to rush out and buy limited edition items because they rarely sell out. So, it’s actually a blessing in disguise, for me at least. 🙂

lovesunshine Avatar

is it just my screen screen or are these slightly less glossy than the previous rouge g´s like ? (judging from the swatch gallery in comparison)

These two are lovely on you Christine 😀 , I have been leaning towards these two after seeing how dark Batifole is and I´m leaning towards Reve. Flirte looks great on you, but Reve is similar to two Mac lipsticks I have and love, Mac Speak Louder and Mac Plumful, which can only mean that it is the type of shade I like, I will swatch personally on counter but really excited for Reve right now 🙂 .

I agree, that’s nuts. Even if I could easily afford it, I don’t think I could pull that trigger. However, I do really want Revlon Wild Watermelon now!

Megan Avatar

Oh gosh! Thanks for reviewing these- they all look so wonderful on you! I know I want to get one, but I can’t really decide. I’m leaning toward Flirt, but I’m not sure…I’ve got pale skin, green eyes and dyed red hair. What do you think?

Ryou Avatar

I didn’t think I’d like Madame Reve as much, but I do, although perhaps not a shade I’d pay $50 for. Do you know if it’s similar in color to Revlon Lip Butter in Sweet Tart at all?

Ryou Avatar

Ah, I see. I guess you never reviewed it, but I recall you wore it on your Estee Lauder Sensuous Rose blush review — I remember because that picture of you was what prompted me to purchase Sweet Tart in the first place. 🙂

Also, I’m sorry if this is not the right place to mention this — I asked on your Madame Batifole review if it’s similar to Chanel Rouge Byzantin, but for some reason my comment was never approved (and you’re generally very fast about it). I was wondering if you missed it or if you were too busy to check (either way, it’s understandable).

Christine Avatar

Hey Ryou!

Did I? LOL! I will have to go back and check. I did a search for a review (because my memory is horrible) but didn’t see one!

I have about 70 comments pending, so it’s not lost, I just haven’t had a chance to answer it! Basically anything I have to look up can take a bit longer (depends on how busy I am at the moment it comes in). I’m hoping to get through them today or tomorrow!

Ryou Avatar

Yep, you certainly did, if the list of make-up you wore on the Sensuous Rose review was correct. I don’t think you ever reviewed it, though.

And thank you for clarifying. I know you lead a very busy life so sorry if I sound like I was pestering you. ^^; Good luck! *hugs* <3

Christine, I splurged and acquired Madame Flirte. I love everything about it right down to the formula and packaging. Now I’m in a quandary because its limited edition. I think that Grenade in the permanent line is a really close dupe for it, but I would love your opinion.
