Giorgio Armani Rose Platinum (16) Eye Tint
Giorgio Armani Rose Platinum (16) Eye Tint ($38.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a very pale, light-medium silvery lavender with flecks of warmer gold micro-shimmer. The color is interesting, because it’s both cool and warm; when applied at full coverage, it is cooler, but if sheered out, the gold shimmer seems to come more to the forefront and gives it a warmer appearance. The texture was lightweight, smooth, blendable, and semi-opaque to opaque. I prefer using a separate brush with these than the applicator (also, more sanitary! and given each of these contain so much product, I avoid double-dipping to maximize the life of the product!). The color lasted for twelve hours before creasing slightly (marketed as 16-hour wear). LORAC Silvermist (LE, $19.00) is less shimmery, lighter (95% similar). LORAC Fairytale (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Ciate Paradise (PiP, )(90% similar). Buxom Silver Screen (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Hollywood (17) Eye Tint ($38.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a subdued, light-medium peachy gold with warm, brown udnertones and a metallic sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage with a creamy, blendable texture that didn’t dry too fast or too slow, so it was easy to work with. The color lasted for thirteen hours on me. MAC Fabulous Three #2 (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). Buxom Champagne Buzz (P, $12.00) is darker (95% similar). Tarte Fizz the Season (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Silver Mirage (18) Eye Tint ($38.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a light-medium, taupe brown with subtle, warm undertones and almost silver-like sheen. It had good pigmentation, and it was totally opaque when I later applied it on my lid with a brush, but the formula seems to yield somewhat variable results based on the pull of product–sometimes it is thinner, sometimes it is thicker. The texture is lightweight, easy to blend and apply to the skin, and dries down nicely. The color started to crease slightly after thirteen hours of wear. Viseart Bijoux Royal #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter (95% similar). Stila Rose Pewter (LE, $18.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). ColourPop Koosh (LE, $6.00) is warmer (90% similar). ColourPop Debutante (LE, $4.50) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). ColourPop Babydoll (PiP, $4.50) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Badass #1 (LE, ) is more shimmery, warmer (90% similar). MAC Hypnotizing (LE, $17.00) is cooler (90% similar). Dior Moonlight #1 (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer (85% similar). I am not a fan of liquid eyeshadows and I’m not really blown away by these shades either, so I’ll be skipping these.
Bummer!
I have Silver Mirage and it was the worst buy of this year. The glitter falls out in 2 hours under the eyes, it looks terrible. Although we don’t have return policy here, I will try to bring it back tomorrow and ask for my money because to me with this price that much fall out is a no-go.
I hope you can get a refund, Sara! What a bummer to hear. I didn’t experience the fall out you did, but it sounds like the kind I got with YSL’s formula!
YAY!!! I like the way the Rose Platinum can shift cool or warm. I love this formula and will be picking these up, dupes be damned!
It’s a tough one to dupe, too, given the layered shades!
Oh, I love these! Why do they have to make these LE?! I’m going to try to get these if I can. They are so expensive though. I wish they were permanent. 17 is my fave!
GA stuff does tend to stick around (but not always!) longer compared to most LEs (I think it’s the price point).
Good point. I can usually do one here and there.
Hmmm. I have a feeling these would all look the same once sheered out on the lid.
It’s an interesting set of shades to release together, because they don’t really work that well together (not enough contrast), but I could see them pairing well with other shades in the Eye Tint range.
Looks lovely on you, just out of curiosity what is on the bottom lash line? They sure do look tempting to check out.
I don’t remember 🙁
I like all the shades. These are LE aren’t they?
I believe so!
These are lovely! Although I know that if I bought one, I’d be using it full-strength to its opacity. But that’s just me. It’s funny that I already have the 2 closest dupes for Silver Mirage, UD Verve and Nars Callisto, and never noticed that they were close to each other till now! ?
Glad you have dupes 😀
Pretty, especially Platinum. Dupeable, though.
True! 🙂
Rose Platinum needs to be added to her friends sitting in my stash.
I’m not surprised by that decision 😉
GA – my favorite eye makeup! I’ll have to purchase the Silver Mirage at least! I don’t wear light eye shadows but it’s so pretty! LE? Awww
It might be nice on the center of the lid 🙂
Great idea – thank you!!
I might be able to get a similar effect from my Nars liquid illuminators – Copacabana perhaps?
Possibly! The shimmer in that Illuminator is finer.
Each of these liquid eye shadows would work well paired with a stronger colour for contrast. Although very pretty, I have the feeling that if you owned the Naked palettes (either 1, 2 or 3) you would probably have some very close dupes for them.
Totally agree — more contrast would be perfect!
I’m really fond of the Rose Platinum shade. Very pretty. Thanks so much for the swatches!
My pleasure, Trish!
I’ve been interested in trying these shadows since the formula was released. After my experience with the liquid Dior shadows, I was afraid of a similar experience. But it sounds like these perform well and aren’t problematic like the Dior shadows.
You said, “it was totally opaque when I later applied it on my lid with a brush…” Does this mean that you applied another layer on top of an existing layer? If these can be built up, then I’ll probably take the plunge.
I just read where you said these can be “layered endlessly” so… =)
I didn’t layer, just one layer, but I used a synthetic, flat/firm brush.
Hi Cat: On my mature lids, I tend to work at these by building them up in thin layers and blend out the edges with a MAC 217 if that is any help. In my opinion, they are not as easy as some cream shadows or thick pencil shadows where you can quickly lay down a base and blend, but the glowy effect is worth the slow build. Rather reminds me of cream blush in that respect and how it imparts a deeper glow typically than powder and blends more into the skin than powder.
Thank you! A glow is what I was hoping for. =)
I’m so happy to hear these can be built up. I’ve seen heavy swatches of the shadows on various blogs but didn’t know if the shadow could be built up so it would have some opacity on the lid. Looks like I’ll be getting Flannel to start with, then, if all goes well, I’ll go back for Émeraude.
I already have 6 of these and love them! I like Silver Mirage, it would make a great base for many shadows or as a sheer wash of color, but I want to use up the ones I have before they go bad. I will swatch in store, to see if the color is worth picking up.
I’m glad that I like none of these! Really helping me with my makeup low-buy))
Btw, Christine, can you compare eye tint flannel 08 and eyes to kill in 30 rose popilla? I remember you’ve tested both

I like all three, but I don’t think I’ll get more than one, Rose Platinum. Such an interesting eyeshadow.
