Giorgio Armani #701 Flash Lip Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

Giorgio Armani #701 Flash Lip Lacquer ($29.00 for 0.22 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark bluish-gray base with multi-colored shimmer and pearl (predominantly aqua, blue, and violet). On lips, this translates into a smoky, plummy purple tint to the lip color, plus an array of violet and blue shimmer. MAC Karin is less gray, less multi-color in shimmer. MAC Boys Go Crazy is purpler. Giorgio Armani #604 has a similar tint to lips but no shimmer. See comparison swatches.

If you tend to get intrigued by unusual colors, this is a very cool gloss. And as a result of it being semi-opaque, it can really add a versatile tool to your arsenal for layering. It will instantly add drama to any lip color, plus dazzling shimmer that looks like water when the sun hits it. The consistency is lightweight, comfortable to wear with a cushy, gel-like texture that is very lightly tacky but not full-on sticky. The shine lasts longer than the average gloss–three to four hours–and the shimmer and color linger for another hour or so. I had a total wear time of five hours with this shade, and it was lightly hydrating during that time. The biggest downside is that the sheer, darker color does settle into lip lines, though I think the amount of shimmer helped to camouflage some of it, and it was not too noticeable from afar (but you’ll definitely see it in the close-ups). I didn’t detect any scent or taste with the formula.

OMG This lip gloss is gorgeous! I love how it looks blue-ish, smokey in the tube, and of course the pretty multi-coloured shimmer. It would make any lipstick shade look extra unique. <3

I’ve thinking of visiting a GA counter in the next two weeks or so…I haven’t been to one since May…when I do that, I’ll make sure I try it on my lips to see what it feels like, since you recommend it, then I’ll go away for an hour or two to carry on with my shopping and then I shall decide if it is a keeper!! ha ha ha!!!!

Yay, you reviewed it! I added this to my wish list a couple weeks ago when I saw one of my favorite fashion bloggers talk about it. :3 It reminded me a tad of Bobbi Brown’s Black Pearl High Shimmer lipgloss, which is a mainstay in my lipgloss arsenal. I could see this being a very versatile shade – I especially seeing it really sing on women with very pigmented lips!

This looks kind of like it’s trying to riff on Lipstick Queen’s Hello Sailor, I think. But maybe not quite so successfully if that is what it’s trying to do.

Cool effect though.

Hello, Sailor is just a very sheer purple lipstick with no shimmer at all, though? I don’t see any similarity apart from both being sheer and dark, and blackened glosses have been around for ages.

If this was the opaque galaxy juice it is in the tube I’d be all over it (and applaud a high end brand for helping to normalise all the weird colours I wish I could wear on my lips), but on it has a frost bitten with shimmer look I don’t like.

This is my only Flash Lacquer purchase so far, but I really like it. I didn’t notice it settling in my lip lines, but I’m wondering if I was just dazzled by the shine. I like the greater pigment of these glosses over the original Gloss d’Armani formula, but I don’t find these wear quite as long.

oh wow! i was not expecting it to look like that! i can only imagine how gorgeous it would be over a really dark vampy red/purple or over black! or that green occ lip tar! if i had somewhere to wear this to, i’d buy it!

I would so swear that! I love muted colors. Reminds a little bit of….what was it called Comet Blue by MAC? One of the first Dazzleglasses that never returned.

Glad I own it. 😀

I’m extremely pale, maybe NW10-15 with a cool complexion, pink undertones and without foundation, am prone to redness. I LOVE this lipgloss, I bought it the other day because I love queer things and I can’t stop wearing it! It’s 100% me in the daytime, a dash of weird but still wearable!
