Estee Lauder Pretty Naughty: Tease

Estee Lauder Tease Illuminating Powder Gelee Blush ($40.00 for TBA oz.) is a highlighting powder and blush with “soft color” that “builds to a high sheen.” It’s a soft pink with a hint if plum and slight cool undertones with a frosted, lightly metallic finish. It’s very much in the same vein (as far as finish goes) as other iterations of the formula. MAC Flower Fantasy was the closest color I could think of, but it’s a bit lighter. Lancome Moonlight Rose has a similar finish, but it’s much, much lighter. Bobbi Brown Wild Rose is warmer, less pink, more beige.

The pigmentation on Tease is excellent; it’s a very buildable product, but it doesn’t require careful application to avoid getting too much pigment. It should work well for really pale complexions as well as much deeper ones. It has a beautiful, finely-milled consistency and soft, smooth texture that applies and blends well on the skin. There is a very slight emphasis of pores and skin texture, but it’s at a level where the glow it yields seems like a good trade-off and is not noticeable from afar. On my medium skin tone, it added both soft color and sheen. It lasted for eight full hours without fading.  If you are a fan of this type of powder product, I think this one is definitely worth checking out.

I’m not sure how much product this contains (the back of mine has sample labeling), but I know that previous versions of the Illuminating Powder Gelees have been 0.15 oz. and 0.17 oz. The size of this compact is the same, so I would expect it to be of similar size. There definitely seems to be plenty of product in the pan.

The sponge applicator with a powder confuses me somewhat. Is this different texture-wise than your typical powder blush? Some kind of creme-to-powder-formula? And did you use the applicator or a brush/fingers?

Oooh i’ve been really forward to this review. the other powders with this formula have been super shiny so i was curious to see what the blush formula would be like! this looks pretty!

What a beautiful colour and effect. Christine, did you apply it with the weird spongy applicator or did you use a brush or your fingers? I have a Benefit highlighter that has a sponge-tipped blending “ball” and I hate it (the blending thing, not the highlighter).

Is it wrong that I want this purely because it’s so pretty in the pan?! I don’t wear pink blush because I have quite a rosy complexion, but this is really cute.

Haha! I was thinking the same thing! I could stare into it for hours. I could do those swatches on my arm and stare at those, too. On my oily, pore-covered face, though, this would be a nightmare. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I second this. My eyes have been opened!

That said, the packaging still does have that “grandma” feel to it and could use some updating.

I’m eagerly awaiting for the video 😉
Oh, and the eye look sounds great. I hope we get to see it in the review video. That would be very “Picasso” of you!

I’ve been incessantly contacting multiple Estée Lauder counters in my country about this product since seeing this review. Not ONE of the EL sales associates had even heard of it! A couple of the SAs told me that *if* they do receive the product – which they very likely might not as this was a common problem with the company – they probably wouldn’t be getting more than 2 pieces of it! Pardon me? I live in a major city in a large country, not the bloody Ozarks! Even worse, none of these women even have a clue as to what is on the EL website – I had to tell them – what exactly will be coming out for the next season, what is even out NOW, or the difference between their heads & their arses.

At one specific EL counter, they even told me that the company had DISCONTINUED their Double Wear mascara….I nearly piddled myself. I simply couldn’t understand this and asked why? Why?? Their response was ‘We don’t know….it was such a popular product, too. Very unfortunate’. When I mentioned to them that I guess I would have to get some from eBay then, they didn’t even blink. ‘Good idea!’ they stupidly said. I then promptly went to Dior & dropped $35 on a mascara. Only to be told at the next EL counter I visited that the DW mascara had most definitely NOT been discontinued and was immediately shown their entire mascara display – of which the other EL counter didn’t even have. Not only did they lose a sale from me, they gave it to one of their competitors, and made no commission for themselves. Their display of Double Wear foundation products even had several shades missing from each formula (light/regular/heavy coverage). When I asked for a sample of the heaviest coverage product to try as a concealer, I was informed that the company was no longer making those shades & was given a sample of a shade which is much too dark for me. Say what?? Funny, when I checked the website later, all shades were all available. They were also all available at the other EL counters I visited.

WTH is wrong with this company? Just when I start loving some of their products, I discover this total & utter absence of professionalism. I’m going to be getting in contact with the company directly, immediately. I’m so tired of getting jacked around by clueless Estée Lauder employees…..all of these incidents of professional idiocy happened over a period of less than 2 months. How did these imbeciles ever manage to get a job representing this company?? They’re tossing company profits & their own commissions into the toilet every time they turn around. Not to mention the fact that Estée Lauder itself is seriously p1ssing off customers by ignoring the many millions of us who aren’t in the US who want to buy their limited edition AND permanent collection products, but we can’t even get our hands on them, simply because they’re handing out either none of the products or nothing but a tiny ration of their stock to the pathetic joke of their counters here.

Did I happen to mention that when I first went to request some Double Wear foundation samples that I was given shades from Sand to 3W2 for my skin tone from 3 different counters? I’m an NC20-25 for god’s sake! 3W2? Cashew? Dawn? Sand? Rattan? Desert Beige? Everything from 2W1 to 3W2! And DW Max Cover in Medium Deep! Are their sales associates blind, as well as clueless?

I’ve got a sinking feeling that I’m never going to get my hands on this LE blush at this rate, despite the fact that I’ve personally gone to every EL counter in my area – 5 of them! – and left my name & phone number at each, as well as the specific name of the product I want to purchase 🙁 Considering I generally spend at least a couple hundred $$ every time I’m at a cosmetics counter, I’d expect a little bit better customer service than that. ANY customer should receive better treatment than that…..

My rant about Estée Lauder should’ve been posted at the top, sorry. Don’t know what happened there 🙁

I did want to say though that Shimmering Sands isn’t really ‘peachy’ it’s more of an coppery-toned high shimmer. I have it & I regret buying it because of the orange tone to it. Colors like this don’t look good on my skin. Hoping I’ll be able to sell mine to somebody who likes shades like this because I have absolutely no use for it.

This is very very pretty on you, Christine! Unfortunately, my pores are HUGE, so I’m sure that though it doesn’t emphasize your (nonexistant) pores, it will for me :/ Still, I would be willing to give it a try, I just wish they had a warmer shade available

Hi! I wanted to ask you about foundation (sorry, I couldn’t find the pages for this topic) I wear Chanel’s Perfection Lumière in 40 Beige, and I was wondering what you would suggest for my MAC shade? I’m also interested in buying either the NARS sheer Glow or the MUFE HD foundation, but I can’t decide which one to buy. I want one that has pretty light/medium coverage, because I want it to look pretty natural for school. Could you recommend any shades?
Thanks! 🙂 I lovelovelove temptalia! totally my holy grail of beauty blogs <3

I’ve been wearing this for a week…LOVE LOVE LOVE…

Threw that sponge thing away…use a brush. Wish they wouldn’t even include applicators, and would just make the packaging smaller.

Hi Christine

I’d like to see pictures of it applied lightly vs a bit more built up so you can see pigmentation vs frost.

EL never really appeals to me but I will def be checking this out.

Sold! Thanks Christine, I can always count on you! I have to admit though I’m not too crazy about the lipcolors and palette that came with the Spring release. I may pass on those, but this one has already been ordered as soon as I finished reading your review and before I posted this response. 🙂

Wow this is so pretty, I will probably buy it, I like it that much 😀 , and I´m not a big blush buyer at all, but this is so nice, I like the color and packaging just perfect 🙂 .

Mine was delivered today. I have a warm skintone and I can definitely wear this because my skintone picks up the peachy side of this pink/peach. It also looks fantastic on a friend of mine with cool skintone. It’s drop dead gorgeous!
