Lancome Moonlight Rose Illuminating Powder
Underneath the Moon, You’ll Glow Pink
Lancome Moonlight Rose Illuminating Powder ($42.00 for 0.18 oz.) is supposed to “give the skin a light-reflecting, luminous glow.” It’s a pale, warm-toned pink with a fine, frosted shimmer that sheers out easily when applied. If applied with a damp brush, it will take on a more metallic finish. Chantecaille Les Petales de Rose has a finer shimmer that turns to a sheen, so it is subtler on the skin; there’s also a slight golden tint that Lancome’s dosen’t have. Guerlain Cruel Gardenia is slightly warmer, but it’s incredibly similar. MAC Light Sunshine is less shimmery, paler.
It has a soft, finely-milled texture that makes for effortless blending during application. Though very soft and the shimmer is fine, it did emphasize the pores on my cheeks very slightly. I think the luminous, lit-from-within result is worth the trade-off, as the emphasis is subtle. Moonlight Rose wore well for seven hours, and after eight hours, there was a touch of fading along the inner edge where I applied it. This shade should work well across many skin tones, because it does not have a white base, even though it is a lighter color. For paler complexions, it might show up as a very soft tinge of pink as well.

It gives you the perfect glow 🙂
I tried this in the store last month and was amazed by the texture and pigmentation! I’m not a fan of Lancome and use nothing by them but this will surely be purchased next month! I LOVED IT!
I really don’t fallow Lancome either but this was worth the splurge after swathing it in store.
I swatched this last weekend, and it was just a touch too sparkly for me, but the color is sooo beautiful. Maybe I’ll take a look at some of the “dupes”.
Looks amazing! What brush did you use to apply this? It’s beautiful, I might have to drop getting MAC Porcelain Pink from the upcoming Apres Chic Collection for this!
I use to own MAC Porcelain Pink, I like this way more because it the same formula as the Extra Dimension Skinfinishes from MAC.
I used MAC 165.
I just googled Apres Chic, they’re repromoting Stereo Rose?! I predict a riot!
The inside of the rose reminds me of the Time Warner Cable logo, ha!
I was disappointed by the way Chantercaille swatched – I felt the pink was too pale and had a great potential to be chalky on darker skin. This looks very pink and luminous, and I think it really would work on darker skin. I look forward to purchasing this!
Wow christine your face looks flawless in that last picture
So pretty! It’s almost a shame to mess up the rose pattern 🙂
It’ pretty deep the embossing those, so you should be able to see it for long time. lol
It’s nice to see this hit the US. I came out in the fall collection in October for Canada and Euro. Love this shade to death. On my uber pale skin it didn’t read pink or blush like at all. It actually worked with my skin tone. 😉
I already have Cruel Gardenia and rarely use it, so it’s not likely that I’ll be buying this but Moonlight Rose is gorgeous and the packaging is so much better than that for Cruel Gardenia.
This is gorgeous. I keep avoiding obviously pink highlighters bc I feel like it won’t flatter my warm skin, but it DOES look great on you. Will have to go swatch in-stores and see now
gorgeous, Christine!
How does this compare to Dior’s Rose Diamond?
Rose Diamond is pinker 🙂
I bought the Chantecaille so I really can’t buy this 🙂 But it is gorgeous.
Repeat to self… I do not need another highlighter, I do not need another highlighter, I do not need another highlighter…
I just bought it :/
LOL don’t feel bad. It’s christmas season after all. It comes once a year! 🙂
That’s kind of how I was with the Chantecaille Les Petales de Rose? “Oh, that’s gorgeous. I want it. I don’t need. I want it. It’s so pretty. *buys*”
what a wonderful highlighter!!! it looks great on you.
Would you be able to post ingredient lists with products as well? I’ve noticed it with some reviews, but not others. I find it especially helpful since I’m sensitive to many ingredients found in mainstream cosmetics. Also, some products don’t have their ingredients listed on the websites from which they are sold (thought this was illegal?), but most indie companies have to list their ingredients… Thanks for all of your reviews, they’re so helpful!
I already have Cruel Gardenia but the packaging on this looks so much more travel friendly… Maybe I can justify it as a backup. 🙂
I already have Cruel Gardenia paid 100.00 bucks for it on ebay, I don’t know I might still check this one out. I love highlighters especially pink ones.
I pretty much cry myself to sleep every night because I missed out on Cruel Gardenia. Might have to grab this one as a consolation prize.
It’s a good substitute!
I was expecting it to look a bit ashy on you but it has just enough warmth. It looks really nice
This really looks beautiful on you. You look like a angel. Your really making me want this. 🙂
This reminds me of that LE LM Rose Illuminator from a year or two ago.. looks a bit pinker though but still, same sort of idea… maybe they saw the success and figured people would’ve forgotten about that product by now
Looks great on you Christine!
You just saved me $42, and may have helped several of my makeup junkie friends, so thanks! Last year, Cruel Gardenia was all the rage–I got mine, but a lot of others missed out. I got lucky and found a Saks in San Francisco that sold it to me over a week before it was put on the shelves–otherwise, I’d have missed it, too. Then I see this, and my WANT WANT WANT! meter starts binging. Your swatches prove it really is a fabulous dupe for that Gardenia, so I don’t need it, but all of my friends who missed it and were pretty disappointed may well love this! It’s really quite lovely.
Whew! I hope your friends can snag it 🙂
Do I think it looks very pretty? Of course, it’s really pretty. Will I buy it? No, I’m not even considering it.
I’m a sucker for packaging and a sucker for product with a pretty print. I love everything about this but I’ll stick with my Chantecaille Les Petales de Rose.
I was hoping you wouldn’t post a review on this because I’ve been resisting it for so long.. then not only do you post one, but you give it an A lol gah! Its beautiful though 🙂
I have the SAME thought as you, Sam !! I have been eying this for long time, yet resisting myself… Is a beautiful powder !
I just smiled when I saw your review on this. This is probably the ONLY thing that I have bought before you reviewed it, becaus I missed on the Guerlain’s cruel gardenia and Laura mercier’s rose rendezvous. Its $75 in Australia. Other wise when ever I see a review of your’s with an A as a rating, I go crazy running here and there trying to get my hands on it before its too late. I have bought the entire Guerlain holiday collection because of u! And Chanel dragon…. I started following you a couple of months ago, and I had a hard time finding Dragon. But I managed to get my hand on two! 🙂
beautiful! is this similar to mac msf porcelain pink?
This has a lot more pink!
I just broke my “no buy” and bought this yesterday. It was at our BX (a store only for military personnel and their families) for $35…I just couldn’t pass it up!
I hope you are lovin’ it, Abbey!
