Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a formula that promises six hours of sheer color applied dry or eight hours of rich color applied damp. It’s available in over twenty shades–I have four of them, shown below–in a variety of finishes. They feel finer and silkier compared to Estee Lauder’s wet/dry Gelee formulation.

Estee Lauder Insolent Ivory Pure Color Envy Defining Wet/Dry Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a pop of light ivory with a satin finish. It goes on a lot lighter than it looks in the pan. Applied dry, it was semi-sheer, and then applied damp, it was mostly opaque. The texture was soft, smooth, and lightly powdery when used dry. It wore for five hours dry, six and a half hours damp. It was very powdery, and I had the same, semi-sheer coverage whether applied dry or damp. The only difference that I could find was that damp application caused it to apply even more unevenly and look patchy on the lid. It applied more smoothly when used damp and didn’t emphasize the texture of the lid that way. It lasted for five hours dry, five hours damp.

Applied dry, it had semi-sheer color coverage with a softer, more frost-like finish, and it wore well for six hours before fading. Applied damp, it was nicely pigmented with a stronger sheen that lasted for eight hours on me. The texture is a little dusty to work with, so I preferred using it damp for easiest application. Applied dry, it had sheer coverage with a powdery consistency that was challenging to blend, but it wore well for five and a half hours (out of the six promised!).
