Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "medium to full coverage" with a "dimensional cream finish" that is long-lasting (10 hours without bleeding, feathering, or creasing, per the marketing). It's a creamy, lightweight lipstick that applied evenly and smoothly (for most shades that I tried) that was comfortable to apply. I would not describe it as long-wearing, though, as most shades lasted between four and five hours with some of the richer, reddish shades lasting closer to six hours.
It had a moderately emollient consistency, which didn't feather or bleed on me, but it was less forgiving of lip texture/lip lines at times, especially as it wore down. I felt like it had a lot of slip but that slip disappeared after an hour or two, which left the remaining product feeling a little clingy and more prone to emphasizing lip lines/lip texture. I found this formula to be more non-drying than hydrating over time.
The previous formulation was glossier in its finish, slightly sheerer when I compared a few shades (of the same name) side-by-side. The ingredient lists are significantly different--not even a bit similar--as the first ingredient of the Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick was castor seed oil, and this doesn't even have that at all. Instead, the updated formula has red raspberry seed oil, meadowfoam seed oil, and apricot seed oil, but much, much further down in the ingredient list. The prior formula was kinder to my lips, had a bit more substance to it, so the wear down was more flattering and lasted longer.
It seemed to have a faint sweet, vanilla-like scent but no discernible taste.

Nice, creamy looking but not great for the price.
They do free gifts with purchase or discounted gifts with purchase (ie right now you get two full size lipsticks and some other makeup/skin care for $53 with any purchase) and I have several of these lipsticks this way. Rose Tea is my every day color and it looks like a browner pink on my lips. Even though these (original formula, haven’t tried the new one) are my favorite I find it hard to pay that much for just one lipstick when I know they give them away or discount them a bunch at certain times of the year. I have to go with the colors they pick, but so far it works for me. Plus, they also have limited edition packaging which is fun 🙂
