Pampered (918)

Estee Lauder Pampered (918) Pure Color Illuminating Shine ($32.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medium, rosy mauve with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque color coverage in one layer, which built up to full coverage with a second layer.

The lipstick had a smooth, creamy consistency that had moderate slip and felt slightly balm-like as a result. It applied evenly to my lips with a smidgen of product that settled into my deeper lip lines that was visible in the close-up photo but not in person. This shade stayed on well for four hours and felt moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$32.00/0.06 oz. - $533.33 Per Ounce

The formula is supposed to have "sheer to medium, buildable" coverage with "hydrating shine" while helping to "reduce fine, dry lines and lip flakiness." The majority of the shades had more medium, buildable coverage that could be built up to nearly opaque coverage.

The lighter shades were the least forgiving and sometimes emphasized or gathered around lip lines and lip texture, while mid-tone and deeper shades often applied beautifully with even coverage and in a way that made my lips appear smoother and plusher. The consistency was lightweight with moderate slip and felt like a lipstick-lip balm hybrid as a result, and the finish was glossier and more luminous (without being overtly shimmery/pearly).

They were comfortable and hydrating to wear, though they were shorter-wearing due to the amount of slip, so most shades wore for three hours with a few of the richer and deeper shades lasting almost five hours on me. They had a sweet, vanilla-like scent but no discernible taste.

Social Butterfly (920)

Estee Lauder Social Butterfly (920) Pure Color Illuminating Shine ($32.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark berry with subtle, cool undertones and a luminous sheen. It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation (to medium) with a moderately emollient consistency that felt lightweight, creamy, and smooth.

It could have applied more evenly, though, and I did find that there was a bit of product that settled into my lip lines over time. It wore well for four hours and felt hydrating over time.

Persuasive (333)

Estee Lauder Persuasive (333) Pure Color Illuminating Shine ($32.00 for 0.06 oz.) is a medidum-dark, reddish-copper with moderate, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was far more coverage than marketed (“sheer”), which was why the rating tanked, so if you’re someone who prefers higher coverage, then it’s really a win.

The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and creamy with moderate slip, but it didn’t slide around so much that it was difficult to wear. The product didn’t settle into my lip lines and gave them a smoother appearance overall. It lasted nicely for four and a half hours and felt moisturizing while worn.
