Estee Lauder & Michael Kors: Very Hollywood Collection — Bits & Bobs
The Very Hollywood Collection is divided into two looks: Rodeo Pink and Bel-Air Beige. Rodeo Pink features very pink-themed shades, whereas Bel-Air Beige is more about corals and beiges. Additionally, there is also a Shimmering Loose Powder that can be used with either look. I ended up trying out the Sunset Coral Blush, Hollywood Gold Lip Sheen, and Starlet Peach Lip Gloss from the Bel-Air Beige look, as well a the Shimmering Loose Powder.
The packaging for the Very Hollywood Collection is a pleasant reprieve from Estee Lauder’s typical packaging–it’s a nice update and take on something still more sophisticated and in line with the brand but yet doesn’t feel old.
- Sunset Coral Blush ($26.00) is really more of a pink-coral. It has just a hint of coral, but it turned out pinker than I imagined it would be. It’s a nice shade, though I’d say more summer-appropriate than necessarily for spring (but that’s just if you go by seasons, which I don’t myself!). It has a very matte finish and texture with good pigmentation, so you can definitely get a good pop of color on your cheeks with this one.
- Shimmering Loose Powder ($32.00) is a pinky-peach with golden sheen. It’s almost like a pink beige flesh-toned powder. It’s very finely milled and can be used lightly or more heavily, depending on what kind of look you’re going for. Used with a very fluffy brush and a light hand, it could definitely be used as an all-over powder or just to highlight parts of the face.
- Hollywood Gold Lip Sheen ($22.00) is a sheer, peachy-coral with a golden sheen. It took several layers to build up the color on the swatch alone, so this is most definitely a product that’s aptly named–lip sheen. If you like ultra pigmented lipsticks, I’d look elsewhere. If you like just a sheer wash of color on your lips, lip sheens may be up your alley. Estee Lauder released four other shades (Bungalow Pink, Honey Blonde, Starlet Peach, and Starlet Rose), though two are sold out online.
- Starlet Peach Lip Gloss ($20.00) is a sheer, peachy-orange gloss with champagne shimmer. It looks quite orange in the tube, but it’s really sheer, so it ends up looking much more peach in practice. It’s a non-sticky gloss that goes on sheerly and lasts a few hours on me. It has a strawberry-ish kind of scent, which took a little getting used to, but wasn’t bad overall.

I’ve been a loyal EL fan since 1991 – that’s a long time! I love thier products and use their skin care exclusively. There was a time when I bought every single new product they came out with. Lately, I’m disappointed in the direction they’re going. The last few collections have been ho hum (yawn). Meh! Know what I mean? I bought NOTHING from the holiday collection and will by nothing from the Spring collection. I’ll keep watching, but, sadly, I’m losing interest.
I am excited over this collection. The blushes looked very pretty. Was not really a blush person until the MA at Bobbi Brown taught me the importance of blush and reading your post a few days ago on blush made me take blushes more seriously now.
Was at the EL counter near my place but they haven’t received them yet, but my friend told me the samples and even stocks were already at another counter. Definitely gonna check them out soon!
I’m more interested in the Rodeo Pink lipsticks and glosses, but will probably skip as I have far too many lipsticks and glosses already.
I would be interested in taking a peek at the blush when I pass by the estee lauder counter next time!
I WANT EVERYTHING, SO GORGEOUS. I would save this collection mostly for end of spring and then summer. It’s so classy and gorgeous. Could you do a natural look with these products? 🙂 or anyone for that case?

I saw this in real life and was disappointed. The e/s were nice, but I felt everything else was not made for my skin tone. Too pink, too sheer, too been-there, done-that.
I have the Lip Sheen and Gloss in Starlet Rose and Starlet Pink, I think it is? I love both sets, especially in combination with each other. Starlet Rose is a lovely peachy-pink, and Pink is an almost subdued fuschia, if that’s possible. I’ve seen some people posting here and on MUA that the Lip Sheens are not pigmented, but they are quite pigmented and fairly long-lasting on me (I’m very fair and have lightly pigmented lips, for what it’s worth).
I haven’t tried the blushes yet — am tempted to do so now.
Ahhh I love the blush and the lip sheen.. but I’m on a no-buy until the next MAC collection in Feb.. 🙁 Man.. and my birthday and christmas passed already!

I like the blush, lip stick, and lip gloss but they are not must haves for me.

The packaging SCREAMS ‘old lady!!!’ to me. For a scent that’s supposed to evoke Hollywood glamour, I can’t imagine packaging that’s less in line with the concept.

I love the blush!
The packaging seems so “old lady” to me, and is not appealing. I showed my mom and she agreed…although she is 59 and prefers MAC. It reminds me of the old Mary Kay packaging, to be honest.
I have seen them now on the counter and they look awfully cheap – but they are not for free definitely! Not worth my money.
