Estee Lauder Cosmic Pink Pure Color Sequin Finish Lip Gloss
Estee Lauder Cosmic Pink Pure Color Sequin Finish Lip Gloss ($22.50 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a brightened medium pink with subtle yellow undertones and a cool white shimmer. The only gloss that seemed remotely similar was MAC Preppy, which is much, much sheerer and less vibrant. NYX Rose has a similar finish, though it’s a lipstick, and is a much more muted of a pink.
This new (but limited edition) formula is supposed to have a high shine, long-lasting wear, and be non-sticky. It’s kind of a ridiculous gloss–totally over-the-top, in the best way possible. Sure, it’s not going to be the finish for everyone, but it’s incredibly fun to play and wear. The gloss is on the thicker side, which definitely accounts for its opaque color payoff. Not totally non-sticky, as there is some tackiness to it, especially as the day goes on, but not enough that I would have described it as sticky. It’s lightly hydrating over the five hours this wears. Each gloss is scented with the traditional fig of Estee lauder’s line–kind of a sweet, fruity scent–but no taste.

The color’s pretty, but the finish looks a bit too frosted for me. I’ll pass on this one – besides, I have too many lipsticks and lip glosses anyway. Maybe. No harm in having options, right? 😉
I love the finish and the overall look of the formula; I’ll definitely check out any other colors, as this one just doesn’t suit my tastes.
@xamyx I have to agree.. this reminds me of my mother’s lipstick.. and that’s not good because she owned only two.
whoa… bad 80’s flashback. WAY too frosty.
This post reminds me that I still need to buy Violet Rain, based off of your review! I swear, every gloss and lipstick I buy based soley off of Temptalia turns out to be an excellent decision. See also: Bobbi Brown High Shimmer glosses, Chanel Glossimers, Lancome L’Absolu Rouge in Fleur de Lys, Guerlain Automatique in Shalimar, etc etc. Thanks so much, Christine!
Oh, wish I’d looked at the photos before I voted that I “Love it” – I was going just by how it looks in the tube. But it is too frosty for my liking when applied – I don’t much like that silvery frost look.
I can’t decide if I love it or hate it! It’s so Barbie, which is cute, but it’s so shiny that it would make my already too full lips look worse.
I’d like that color in a nail polish.
Not a fan of this particular shade (so frosty), but I bought the red shade in this gloss and I love it! It’s crazy pigmented. It’s a shame these are LE, I might have to go check out the other shades!
“On lips: Bobbi Brown Sunset Beach.” ???? Shouldn’t it be “On lips: Estee Lauder Cosmic Pink Pure Color Sequin Finish Lip Gloss”?
wow, that almost leans metallic–so bright! Not sure I’d wear this but, as usual, it looks amazing on you Christine. Happy 4th of July!!!
oh my gosh, that is GORGEOUS!!!!! gotta have!
Oooh, I want this in a ruby red! Scampering off to go look for such a shade!
Soo frosty! Add some light blue eyeshadow and blue mascara and you have a perfect 80’s look.
oh no :/ no…this shade reminds me of the cheap ones made in china :-S
Man, this looks so frosty! I bet I’d love some of the other colors, though. Looks great on you, Christine. 🙂
@annedreshfield I’m with you there. It is super frosty! I can pull off pinks, but not with this amount of frost.
You’re pretty harsh on your lip gloss longevity ratings. You gave the lip glasses from the latest MAC collection 7’s because they wore for 2.5-3 hours, and this one has a 9 for lasting 5 hours? How long do they have to last to warrant a 10? I would give any lip gloss that lasted 2 hours a 10 right off the bat; I’m lucky if any lip gloss lasts even 30 minutes on me. o_O
The average lipgloss lasts 3-4 hours on me. This particular gloss is designated as long-lasting – so it should be above my average. Most long-wearing glosses seem to be between 6 and 8 hours, so when it’s not specified, I have to go off of what is usually considered long-wearing. How they have to last is dependent on the brand, and if they don’t advise, then I rate based on the 100s of glosses I’ve tested 🙂
@Christine (Temptalia) Wow! I can’t imagine any lip gloss lasting anywhere near 3-4 hours for the average woman who has to go outdoors, eat, drink, smoke, talk to people, etc. You’re really lucky.
Well, I definitely don’t smoke, which I could see taking a lot of your gloss off, though I’ve never held a cigarette, so I don’t know exactly how you smoke it and if there’d be as much transfer as I envision.
I don’t have a problem with lipgloss or lipstick lasting while doing activities like going outdoors, eating, drinking, or talking to people. Of course, things like eating and drinking will have a greater impact on wear than say just talking to someone. I generally test products before and after meals, so that those things don’t have a disparate impact on the test, unless it’s an exceptionally long-wearing product, then I usually have to eat 😉
Do you lick your lips? I know it can be easy way to lessen your wear time but a common habit.
@Christine (Temptalia) Oh, well, I don’t smoke, just throwing that out there for the women who do. ;)I probably lick my lips a lot without realizing it and I rub them together a lot too. I’m going to test out a lip gloss and see how long it lasts while making a conscious effort to do neither of those things.
I know when I first started wearing lip color (I was sooo into eye makeup only for awhile but finally came around to lip color), I noticed I did lick lips somewhat, which isn’t a great habit to begin with, so I kicked that one 🙂 Let me know if helps!
I have this gloss and really like it. It don’t usually wear lips this bright but it works for me. I bought the Honey??? (nudish) one and it is not as shimmery. The other colors were super bright but beautiful and I was really tempted but too scared to go to far out of my comfort zone. Glad I bought this one though.
I just bought this gloss! I was sitting at the Estee Lauder counter and I saw these beautiful coloured lipglosses and thought ‘Gee..I wonder if that’s the collection that GORGEOUS gloss on Temptalia was from?’ I bought this one, Cosmic Pink and the purpley one, Violet Rain not knowing if they were the ones I saw. Turns out, they were! They are both sooooo beautiful and bright!
