Dior Trafalgar (844) Rouge Dior Lipstick ($34.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a vibrant, red-orange with a shiny, luminous finish. There’s really no shortage in high-voltage oranges on the market, so you can really pick the formula and price point that best suits you. Givenchy Rouge d’Exception is browner. MAC Dangerous is matte. Urban Decay Bang is less red. Maybelline Orange Edge is similar. MAC Scarlet Ibis is more matte. MAC Sail La Vie is similar. MAC Lady Danger is matte. Buxom Rogue is similar. See comparison swatches.

Dior recently released the latest Rouge Dior Lipstick range, which is supposed to have “luxurious, full-coverage lip color” with a “satiny finish.” It’s a lightweight, lightly creamy, moderately hydrating, and easy to apply formula. Trafalgar was richly pigmented and almost had full coverage in a single stroke. It applied smoothly, evenly, and didn’t bleed or feather outside my natural lip lines. It lasted well for six hours, and it left behind a warm, reddish stain that lingered for another hour or so.

I love colors like these, but I’m so cool toned and I feel like I couldn’t pull them off. sigh. I should just go to the MAC counter and try some on. this is so chic and modern. I really like the finish, too.

MAC lipsticks have an assortment of colors…I dont disagree. I have never really tried Givenchy…to the extent that you have, Christine….but I absolutely love Rouge Dior lipstick. These are the reasons: It has been around since I was in my teens…so I find it very vintage. I like the texture, the moisturizing affect and the look when I applied onto my lips. I like the creaminess of the lipstick. I find Chanel to be too slick on me. I find YSL to be too plastic. I only like Rouge Dior…no other variations of Dior. I just wish it has more colors like it did back in its good ole days.

Yep, that is right. I dont like lipstick that has the “slip” or the “stick” either.
And though many like Tom Ford, I dont.
I really like Rouge Dior…and yes, it is fragrance which I like and I wish it had more reds…I think Saks has come up with new reds.

I hope you will be reviewing any other shades – like the red 999 or the nudes. Many lippies including GA, TF, chanel and burberry velvet make my lips peel – I find this formula moisturizing for my sensitive lips…. but the dior lip glosses don’t work for me 🙁
I’ve learned tips from charlotte tilbury & lisa eldridge so my lipstick pretty much lasts all day (i.e. at least 8 hours) with minimal touch ups…
