Nude Dress (649)

Dior Nude Dress (649) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new neutral color combination that leaned lighter and warmer. It included one matte shade along with one more satin shade while the rest were rather shimmery. Thus far, the lightly sparkly, more powdery formula often used for the second shade in the brand’s new Couture palettes, has been predictably less-than stellar–it was more powdery with fallout and weaker wear. I think they were trying to go for a more iridescent or duochrome effect but they formula is just too dry to work well.

Nude Dress #1

Nude Dress #1 is a light brown with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic finish. It had a smooth, lightly creamy texture that was dense but not overly firm or too thick, so it picked up easily with a dry brush and had excellent adhesion to bare skin. The color payoff was opaque and lasted nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

-

The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.

There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.

Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Nude Dress #2

Nude Dress #2 is a pale, white gold base with flecks of gold and pink sparkle. It had good color coverage but the texture was somewhat powdery and felt drier, so I felt like this was more prone to fallout and wasn’t as seamless to apply as other shades in the palette. It stayed on decently for seven and a half hours but had light fallout over time.

Nude Dress #3

Nude Dress #3 is a pale, pinky-peach with a satin sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that was more buildable when applied over a primer than when patted onto bare skin. The texture was soft, lightly powdery and prone to sheering out a bit. It wore well for seven and a half hours before showing signs of fading.

Nude Dress #4

Nude Dress #4 is a darker, golden beige with moderate, warm undertones and a smooth, pearly sheen. The texture was soft, dense but not overly firm, and yielding, so it had excellent pigmentation that picked up well with a dry brush. The eyeshadow applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. It lasted nicely for eight hours before fading visibly.

Nude Dress #5

Nude Dress #5 is a medium-dark, more muted brown with warm, olive undertones and a matte finish. It had rich color coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily along the edges. The texture felt silky and smooth, finely-milled without being powdery, and wasn’t prone to sheering out or having fallout during application. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Yes, I do agree with you Christine – it seems to be shade 2 in nearly all, if not all, of the quints that lets the palette down. The formula is not right – whatever the brand is aiming for. Shade 3 could have been a lot better too.
As to this palette – I think this is the quint if you are after a very subtle effect.

This looks like they tried to update the old Incognito 5 pan. I miss the old formula from around 2005-2007ish. Once they started the oil pulling technology on it, I feel like it misses the power of the old formula.

This is an updated version of a VERY old eyeshadow, Montaigne. It has been rebirthed through the different relaunches at least since 2008, which is when I bought mine.

Incognito has a grey shade. Looks more like some other one in this collection which I can’t recall the name atm. It’s just their grey shade though.
