Dior Mitzah (689) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Mitzah (689)
Dior Mitzah (689) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($65.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, warmer neutral palette featuring four shimmery shades and one matte eyeshadow. The second shade gave me some trouble–it was a bit sheerer–while the fourth shade had a firmer texture, but as long as you don’t mind using a more moderate hand with it, I didn’t find it difficult to use in practice. The other three shades were lovely; pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing.

Mitzah #1
Mitzah #1 is a light-medium, coppery brown with warm undertones and a smooth, metallic finish that “melted” slightly when applied for a more seamless, glowing finish. It had opaque pigmentation with a soft, lightly creamy consistency that was smooth without being too dense or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It stayed on nicely for eight and a half hours before fading visibly.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

Mitzah #2
Mitzah #2 is a darker, peachy gold with strong, warm undertones and a sparkling finish. It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably. It had medium coverage, which was somewhat buildable but worked best patted onto the lid with a fingertip for maximum coverage.
The texture was more fragile (as evidenced by my pan arriving loose in the pan), but it was denser and had some creaminess to it. There was less fallout as a result, even when applied with a dry brush. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

Well darn. I thought for sure I was going to fall for this one once I read your review, but I’m far more inclined to possibly get the new one from Nars instead. Probably during the VIB sale, though.
I love the Mitzah quint so much- Picked it up last week and I haven’t been able to put it down yet! It’s such a lovely quint with such beautiful colors and the formula is stunning.. wow! Dior really went the extra mile to perfect the formula on this one- I assume the others are as nice, overall.
Even though the ratings are pretty good, somehow this one just misses the mark. The inclusion of the two brown shades 1 and 4 worked well with the warmer deeper red shades, but I thought shade 2 was a really wishy washy shade that did not add to the quint. I think a gold would have been a better choice.
Lovely eye look Christine.
I don’t know when your husband is having his surgery this week, but I do hope all goes well.
Thank you, Genevieve! It is tomorrow ?
I’ve clearly missed this (probably because my husband just had 2 surgeries within the last month, and a follow up hospitalization and is having a 3rd surgery tomorrow). I hope his surgery goes well, Christine, and he’s soon on the mend. All the best to him (and you too!).
I only mentioned it briefly in last FFHF, so by no means something I’d expect most to catch! Hope your husband’s surgery goes well!!
I’m a sucker for Dior’s palettes as they are compact, high performing and easy to travel with and this color story is intriguing.
Although I thought the colors beautiful, I expected the palette to be much to dark for me. I was very surprised when I saw Christine’s application as something I could certainly wear. Unfortunately, I am being very strict with myself and purchases right now but I love these colors.
This is beautiful to look at – it just looks so lush – but the colours aren’t for me in the least. Good thing as I’m already being sucked in by these….
Beautiful fall colors in this one!
