Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick
Dior Grege 1947 (169) Rouge Dior Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a soft, light-medium coral with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque color payoff that went on evenly. The consistency was soft, lightly creamy, lightweight, and emollient, so there was a lot of slip, which made it comfortable to wear and more balm-like on. The downside was that it moved around more, and the wear time only came in at three and a half hours for me. It was very hydrating, though. MAC Almondine (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). MAC Shy Shine (P, $19.00) is lighter (95% similar). MAC Coral Bliss (LE, $19.00) is cooler (95% similar). NARS Lip Priming Balm (LE, ) is darker, brighter (90% similar). Dior Rose Caprice (475) Rouge Dior Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium fuchsia pink with cooler, violet pearl. It had semi-sheer color coverage, which applied well enough, but it could have been a bit more even overall. The consistency was thin, balmy, and comfortable to wear as it glided right on and didn’t cling to the lips. It lasted for three and a half hours on me and was hydrating. MAC Purple Panna Cotta (LE, $17.50) is darker (90% similar). YSL Mauve Nihiliste (58) (P, $38.00) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Ciate Cosmic (P, $22.00) is more shimmery (85% similar). Sephora Cosmic Purple (105) (P, $14.00) is darker (85% similar). KVD Beauty Wonderchilde (DC, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker (80% similar). Too Faced Metallic Violet (P, $21.00) is darker (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
Dior Darling (775) Rouge Dior Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark fuchsia-red with subtle, warm undertones and a luminous finish. The consistency was smooth, lightly emollient, and applied easily and did not tug on my lips. It had good pigmentation, though not fully opaque, that went on evenly. This shade lasted for six hours and left a stain behind, and the formula was moisturizing over time. Hourglass Leader (P, $32.00) is brighter (95% similar). Chanel Season (126) (P, $45.00) is lighter, cooler (95% similar). NARS Carnal Carnation (DC, $28.00) is warmer (95% similar). Estee Lauder Pretty Shocking (230) (P, $32.00) is lighter (95% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Viva (LE, $36.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). Chanel Framboise (P, $37.00) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). L'Oreal Lacquered Strawberry (P, $9.99) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Damage Control (P, $26.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Guerlain #67 (P, $36.00) is brighter (90% similar). Tom Ford Beauty Logan (P, $36.00) is more shimmery, cooler (90% similar). MAC Hey, Good Looking (P, $24.00) is darker, cooler (90% similar). Sephora Love Wins (09) (P, $13.00) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Estee Lauder Astonishing (912) (P, $32.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). MAC Cheery Cherry (LE, $23.00) is darker (90% similar). Burberry Crimson Pink (241) (P, $34.00) is less shimmery, cooler (90% similar). Guerlain Gourmandise (DC, $49.50) is warmer (90% similar). Formula Overview
Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick ($35.00 for 0.12 oz.) is supposed to “highly pigmented” with “lasting comfort” and no “colour streaking” for 16 hours. It’s a solid lipstick formula–fairly pigmented, applies without tugging, wears four to six hours, and is comfortable to wear, but it just is nowhere near 16-hour wear. The satin shades are more hydrating, while the mattes are slightly hydrating to non-drying. The formula has a floral scent but no discernible taste to me. The formula has a strong, floral scent in the tube, and I don’t really notice the scent once it’s on the lips.

I’m sorry the Rose didn’t perform better. I would have been interested in buying the shade.
Me too! 🙁
I really like the colors of Rose Caprice and Darling, but they (especially Rose Caprice) seem more like sheer, summery lipsticks to me than like high-pigment, long-wear lipsticks.
Rose Caprice is definitely more like that than a long-wear lipstick!
I love the balmy lipsticks. I was wondering if this Dior Rose Caprice is similar to the too faced la creme lipstick in the shade Razzle Dazzle ?
You can compare any two shades under the Swatch Gallery! This is faster than waiting for me to reply since I am terribly slow! 🙂

Well I wasn’t expecting much from Greige but Rose Caprice looked like it had potential. It can be a dupe for a Kiko Color I got for about $3 on sale. It’s a shame that a $35 lipstick doesn’t pack a punch…..there should be more pigment for a longer lasting wear. Darling is nice.
Your eye color is fab!
I feel like they could have gone with a much, much less intense description!
Darling is pretty. I really like your foundation in these pictures. Is the eyeshadow look from an upcoming review of a palette, a past review, or singles?
I already reviewed those a month or so ago!
I’m so surprised by the low rating on these!! I always think very highly of Dior’s lip products and they tend to be some of the best to splurge on! It’s such a shame because Grege 1947 is a beautiful colour!
The wear claim is killing these 🙁
Strange how these vary so greatly in opacity! I like how Dior 1947 goes with that bold eye look
They have seemed to vary a lot in that respect so far!
Grege is a lovely shade.
It is!
Funny how great you look in mediocre to worse Dior lipsticks. But, a usual, your eye look rules. Those UD vintage shades are amazing on you! We are always inspired by your eye looks, even when the featured product is for another feature. That first lip says neither grege (greige?) nor 1947 to me. If you want retro-appropriate, I suggest besame.
They’re not bad, but they’re definitely not close to 16-hour wearing lipstick!
Well *of course* I love Darling. But with 2 tubes of Catfight to use up, I don’t think so!
I REALLY do wish Caprice had been better, as that’s a rather unusual shade to see nowadays. Very pretty on you! Which tells me that it would work on us warmer skintones quite nicely for a lavender pink! ?
Thank you, Nancy!
I like Rose Caprice, That violet pearl makes it really pretty and a bit unusual. The grade isn’t so good though. I hope they’ll have this at Sephora so I can compare it with Wonderchilde to see how the feel and look on me.
I really do like the cool pearly shimmer. Help, I want a Dior product, and I want it so much. This is somthing that’s not happened in years 🙂
The sheen on it is pretty!
Helene, that was what called to me too with Rose Caprice. The violet pearlesence is unique! I did have a lipstick back in the 90’s that had a similar violet pearl in it, I think it may have been a Revlon one? Been too long to remember 100%, but I know that I did use up the whole thing!
Surprised they are so patchy/streaky…
I wish they were a bit better, though the wear time is still far off!
It’s interesting that you didn’t really notice the scent once it’s on the lips. I tried one of these when the new formula first came out and all I could notice was the smell. It was very over powering for me. I said I’d give it 30 minutes to die down, but I only lasted 15 minutes before the scent bothered me so much I had to remove the lipstick. Wish companies wouldn’t put fragrance in products that go on the face. I realize though that I’m of the minority opinion on this.
I’m not a fan of floral fragrance either, but I definitely have no killer nose… I’d say my sense of smell is just so-so.
The 775 color is my favorite
Nice!
Rose Caprice could have been awesome with the violet pearl. If only it had better coverage…I can live with a 3-1/2 hour wear time if hydrating. It’s nice that you list duplicates, YSL Mauve Nihilist looks like a good substitute.
The wear time wouldn’t bother me at all if it wasn’t for the claim 🙁
I love the dior packaging, it is so sophisticated and chic.
It is very classic!
What is going on with Dior? All three of these colours are beautiful but such poor quality at this price? No thank you. What a shame 🙁
