Dior Dune (759) Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Dune (759)
Dior Dune (759) 5 Couleurs Couture Eyeshadow Palette ($63.00 for 0.24 oz.) is a new, limited edition warm-toned palette with five shimmery eyeshadows that were semi-opaque to opaque, typically, but blendable and easy to work with. The formula felt like a gel-powder hybrid–denser but smooth and blendable, which translated to a more “melted” texture on the lid that melded with the lid/skin. The center shade was much sheerer compared to the other shades, which brought down the palette’s overall rating noticeably.

Dune #1
Dune #1 is a brighter, light-medium orange with warm undertones and warmer, gold shimmer that gave it a metallic finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation applied dry, while the dampened application was more metallic and fully pigmented. The texture was smooth, moderately-dense, and blendable while being easy to pick up with a dry brush. It stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have a "creamy and comfortable texture" that is long-wearing and has "intense color" (or "high-pigment"). There are five finishes that can be found within various palettes: matte, satin, shimmer, metallic, highlighter, and glitter, though there aren't specific descriptions by finish, unfortunately.
There were a few shades that seemed more sparkly and were sheerer, more like layering shades, while the other finishes tended to be pigmented. In general, the texture was moderately dense with the matte shades being slightly thinner and a smidgen powdery in the pan compared to the satin, shimmer, and metallic shades.
Aside from those more sparkly shades, the formula was blendable, pigmented, easy to work with, and lasted an average of eight hours on me (without a primer).

LELimited Edition.
Dune #2
Dune #2 is a medium gold with warmer, more orange undertones and flecks of pink and gold micro-sparkle. It had mostly opaque pigmentation applied both dry and wet, while the latter application gave a slightly smoother result and didn’t have fallout (there was light fallout with the dry application as the texture was slightly dry to the touch). It wore well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Dune #3
Dune #3 is a very light, white gold with moderate, warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff applied dry and was more medium in coverage and buildable when applied with a dampened brush or a fingertip. The consistency was moderately-dense, smooth, and not powdery without being too firmly-pressed into the pan. This shade showed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

Dune #4
Dune #4 is a medium, reddish-copper with warmer, more orange undertones in the base paired with pink and gold pearl that gave it a metallic finish. The texture was smooth to the touch, dense without being too firmly-pressed into the pan, and melted on my lid. It had nearly opaque pigmentation applied dry, but it was lighter and more orange in hue, whereas the dampened application was richer and deeper in color. This shade stayed on well for eight hours before fading visibly.

As I suspected when you first showed these, this doesn’t interest me at all. #5 is a nice enough colour but this 5-pan is expensive and not worth it for one easily replicated colour.
Apart from the second shade, this is another quality product from Dior. The colour story is soft and subtle one and I like it that the brand hasn’t added a dark brown shade, but a more muted golden brown shade as the final colour. Whilst this isn’t quite for me (too orangey), I do appreciate the variations in shade range to make it work for a variety of looks.
Looks like a good everyday type of warm neutral quint. Nice, but nothing Earth shattering or unique.
OMG, this is so pretty. However, it looks more like a face palette than eyeshadow palette…
Now if we could only get our big brushes into those leeetle pans.. Agree. Would love it as a face palette.
