I’m really at a loss for words for why they keep including these glitters in their 9-pan eye shadow palettes. I see a lot of comments on their Instagram asking for them to stop including these in the 9-pan palettes. It just doesn’t feel right to lose out on two shades of a limited palette to something that isn’t safe for use around the eyes.
Why does this collab sound so familiar to me? Like a MAC collab of recent months, but it probably isn’t the same person. I’m only digging the Supershock shadows and a few of the cheek ones, too. The e/s palette gets a huge thumbs down from me. TWO of those ridiculous pressed glitters, plus boring regular shades? No thanks!
Pony Park did just do a collab with MAC and the palette sold out in no time. Unlike this one, it looked easy to use and was free of glitter, but in true MAC fashion, it sold out in a flash. ?
The MAC x Pony Park Hocus Pocus palette had three sparkling “Pressed Pigment” shades that I think may have contained small glitter particles. The $35 palette sold out in maybe 2 days, and is now on eBay for ~$90.
MAC’s Pressed Pigments don’t contain PET glitter as far as I’m aware – including when I checked the ingredient lists for both shades in the Hocus Pocus palette!
Oh! That’s a relief to hear! I misunderstood the review.
I’ll call out any use of plastic glitter in the review, if I’m aware of it! π
Yet ANOTHER pinky-peach palette from ColourPop? Why? Haven’t they already done these shades to death? And those freaking glitters…ugh, stop!
It looks like Pony Park went with more glitter. I really hope this trend ends, but I keep seeing it in beauty editorials and on beauty accounts, so I’m not sure if the end is in sight. This release looks pretty and has the same sort of kpop feel as the MAC release, but with a more amplified scheme geared towards a younger crowd. I wonder if this will sell out immediately as well. I’m really happy I was able to snag things from the MAC collaboration – more subtle and up my alley.
Did they stop putting their 9-pans in plastic casing? Boo!!
I like the glitters.
I am forty f***ing years old and if I wanna stick glitter on my eyelids, then I will. These Colourpop ones stick really well without the need for adhesive (so do the Sydney Grace ones, FYI), they remove easily with a microfibre cloth and as long as you’re not trying to stick them on your lashline then it’s not a big deal for me. YMMV may vary of course and if you don’t wanna stick glitter on your face then don’t – there are plenty of other glitter free choices out there. Frankly, I am more weirded out by people using glue on their eyelashes on a regular basis but most folks seem to accept that as pretty normal…
I know the chances I’m taking (and my eyesight is for sh*t anyway, so I’m less concerned with the negligible risks of corneal damage) and if this was really such a massive liability risk for all the cosmetics companies in general, they just wouldn’t be doing it – Tati and Sydney Grace have both released glitter shades recently, along with Colourpop, I’m sure there are others that I don’t know about. I don’t think it’s quite the same as rubbing nitric acid on your eyelid (which has also happened to me, because I’m dumb like that) but yeah, I’m really enjoying the choice of glitter eyeshadow currently on offer.
I agree, and I like pretty much most of the glitter in makeup. I don’t mind the pressed glitters as they are really pretty and make a nice little sparkle when you want it. I mean, do they do it often and do I have enough to last me a lifetime? Yes. But the pressed glitter has never bothered my eyes, and I wear contacts and don’t have eyes without problems. All I do with these anyways is dab a tiny amount on top of a finished eye look if I want some sparkle. Never any harm done. ColourPop will always get a good chunk of my paychecks π
They bother mine, unfortunately, and I actually have to abstain from wearing my contacts (they’re hard contacts and worn at night) for a good 24 hours because a single fleck under (even dust, lol) is like someone is stabbing me in my eye. This happens just putting it underneath my lash line, so I can sympathize with people who may have adverse reactions like myself. I’m actually at a crossroads on how to deal with testing these things going forward and whether it will limit my ability to be of any use to readers because I don’t know if I can handle the ongoing irritation/redness that happens routinely after wearing larger particle glitters.
For what my two cents is worth, if it causes you discomfort or irritation in any way, shape or form, just don’t do it to yourself. People here will understand, and if anyone actually demands you put glitter on your eyelids when you don’t want to, then feel free to tell them to get stuffed. π
It’s all about personal choice – I apparently have Hulk style eyeballs and you don’t and that’s fine. I have a friend that can’t physically wear purple eyeshadow or eyeliner without redness, swelling and irritation on her eyelids – she isn’t sure exactly what she’s allergic to but she obviously doesn’t throw a fit whenever I wear purples. They’re not for her but they are most definitely for me.
But I don’t think you should be suffering for anyone else’s vanity, put it that way.
I only exist to provide reviews to readers (in terms of the site), so if I’m not doing that, then I am falling short… especially if itβs something I did before & would stop then itβs taking something away that some will have expected from me. It may not be something I can control (that I’m more sensitive), but you don’t get a chance to explain to each person why you aren’t able to do what they’d like you to do… you just aren’t providing the information they need, so they will have to look elsewhere.
Some discomfort while testing products is normal to me – there are a lot of products that are drying, clingy, or otherwise uncomfortable (or even painful) to wear that I still test. It wasn’t so bad when it was just here and there, but with the continued ramp up of these types of products, I’m not sure how I will move forward. I’m hoping that after the holidays, there might be a slow down.
Strikes me as probably carmine. Common allergy, not to mention, the cochineal origin is from crushed beetles. Not exactly CF.
Love Pony and this release does look like she had input into the shades, etc. She prefers very light, not super pigmented shades and tends to do very neutral looks most of the time. I think the shadows and lipsticks, for that matter, are all easily duped. I hate the pressed glitters in the palette and really wish ColourPop would stop doing that. I don’t know how many times we have to say it before they take the hint. Anyway, the lipstick in Chew-holic is a very pretty shade for spring.
This collection is seriously in danger of looking like many of the others that we have recently seen from CP. Overload.
I have total CP fatigue. They donβt mind, lol. These are definitely NMC, but I do love Pony.
The colors of the palette really remind me of Huda’s New Nudes.
Pretty, and in keeping with what I know about her style. The Juicy Drop lippie is the standout for me. It looks like it would make for pretty popsicle stained lips.
I love Pony and want to get this palette but WHY GLITTERS? There are only 7 colors I can use in the palette. π
I am still baffled by the continued inclusion of these plastic non eye safe glitters in every EYESHADOW palette lately! I have left several comments on their instagram about this but never get any response. Not only are they a complete waste of palette space for most people, the brand often features videos or photos of influencers using these glitters on their eye area, which may give people in the incorrect impression, especially if they don’t bother to read the warnings on the back. I personally refuse to buy these palettes, no matter how well they may or may not perform.
