ColourPop x Hello Kitty Date Mate, Konichiwa, Let's Play Lippie Stix Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Date Mate
ColourPop Date Mate Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a deep fuchsia pink with cool, blue undertones and a flat, matte finish. The consistency was much drier and firmer than the majority of Lippie Stix I’ve come across, which made it tug and pull at the lips when I attempted to apply it. I was quite surprised that it applied as evenly as it did, as stiffer formulations usually end up looking streaky, thick, and uneven. The formula was clingy, which made it feel drier on, though it did not start to feel drying until three hours into wear (of total of six hours of wear).

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.0352 oz. - $198.86 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "full coverage" with a "long-wearing, ultra comfortable" feel. Because there are quite a few finishes in the range, some of the results depend more on the finish.
The matte finish tends to be thinner, drier, and firmer in the tube, and they can, occasionally, tug on my lips noticeably during application, but usually have good pigmentation and long wear; they range from non-drying to somewhat drying.
The Creme finish has a creamier, more emollient quality to it that has excellent pigmentation, comfortable wear, and good wear time (four to six hours); it tends to be a little hydrating but occasionally suffers from issues where product gathers in lip lines or they don't go on as evenly as they could. There's a soft, sweet vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Konichiwa
ColourPop Konichiwa Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a muted, medium pink with cool undertones and a natural finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a moderately emollient texture that was lightly tacky. The lipstick felt firmer in the tube, but it warmed up and melted against the warmth of my lips, which made it more malleable. It’s part of the Creme finish range, which is supposed to have “medium to full coverage,” so it seemed like it was in line with the description (most of the Lippie Stix finishes are full coverage). This shade wore for four and a half hours and was lightly hydrating.

Let's Play
ColourPop Let’s Play Lippie Stix ($5.00 for 0.0352 oz.) is a bright, medium-dark ruby red with cool undertones and pink and ruby red pearl and sparkle. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that covered the lips with smooth, even color. The texture wasn’t completely smooth–I could tell it had a ton of shimmer in it–but it glided on without tugging and didn’t feel gritty or rough on the lips. It wore well for over six hours, left a reddish stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Let’s Play! looks beautiful, I wish I could get it but I’m dead broke!
See if you can mix it with things in your stash! 🙂
I love Let’s play!!! It looks so pretty!!
It is!
Oh my goodness, what a coincidence! I’m wearing my hot pink and black Hello Kitty shirt around the house today 🙂 I have all of these. My fave is Let’s Play –it’s a stunning color and love that finish. As for Date Mate, I would normally not buy that color, but (hello!) since it was part of the Hello Kitty collection and only $5, I went for it. It’s really bright, but I tone it down with some lip balm, so it doesn’t feel dry to me at all. As for Konichiwa, it pulls a lot cooler on me, and it’s a little too pink, but I can make it work. The pics don’t show the caps for the tube, but it has silver bows all over it, a nice touch.
I’m glad your Date Mate is more forgiving on you!
Let’s Play and Konichiwa are beauties! Although, having seen that Konichiwa is duped by my “old” UD Turn On lipstick, I suppose I’m covered there?
With Let’s Play, it’s more a matter of me falling for Surprise first. Silly, I know! ???
They’re very similar – one only needs one!
I love Let’s Play!
Me too! It’s quite festive.
Let’s play was what I wore to Thanksgiving this year. It is so beautiful. Even more so in person. I got a lot of compliments on it. It wears forever…and for that price! Colourpop lippie stix are my favorite thing they sell!
I bet it lasted through the meal, lol! It’s a bold, long-wearing shade!
Let’s Play and Konichiwa are quite pretty. Let’s Play is really fun.
Let’s Play is a stunner. I like Konichiwa is very nice as well.
I have some thinking to do about what and if to order more lipsticks. Brain says NO! Heart says YES! 🙂
Date Mate is too matte for me, but I like Konichiwa and I *love* Let’s Play!
Let’s Play rated infinitely better than I thought a glittery finish would. Really tempted to buy it now! Also, I love how, out of 4 dupes, ColourPop has produced the top two. When you can do something, do it more than once, I guess!
I’m obsessed with Let’s Play! Got it last week! The shimmer is so great
