ColourPop Radioactive & Mineral Girl Creme Gel Liners Reviews & Swatches
Radioactive
ColourPop Radioactive Crème Gel Colour ($7.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a darker, grayish-taupe base with flecks of dirty gold and pink sparkle that gave it a more metallic finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation in a single layer. The texture was barely emollient, and while I thought maybe it was just the top layer that was drier, it didn’t improve as I dug deeper into the pot.
Unfortunately, this made it harder to apply fluidly, so it had to be applied in shorter, overlapping strokes, and I had to go back for more as it dried down as I was placing it, so product ended up drying on my brush instead. It was hard to remove, so it was very long-wearing, which was an upside! The eyeliner stayed on well for over 10 hours.

Top Dupes
- Urban Decay Mushroom (P, $22.00) is darker, warmer (90% similar).
- MAC Shoreline (P, $17.00) is less shimmery, darker, cooler (85% similar).
- Urban Decay Underground (DC, $22.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar).
- Fenty Beauty Moon Dunez (P, $22.00) is cooler (80% similar).
Formula Overview
$7.00/0.11 oz. - $63.64 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "long-wearing" with "high-intensity pigment" and a "smooth application." When the shades are nearly opaque, they are often long-wearing and fluid, making them easy to apply and to use as eyeliner or as an eyeshadow base. Sometimes, they can be a little too emollient, where they sheer out more readily when applied in a fluid stroke and are not as easily built up. Most shades wore between eight and 10 hours on me.

Radioactive
LELimited Edition. $7.00.
Mineral Girl
ColourPop Mineral Girl Crème Gel Colour ($7.00 for 0.11 oz.) is a deep, bluish-gray with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a drier, almost stiff, consistency that was difficult to apply fluidly.
I could use shorter, more overlapping strokes and then build up to even it out, but it was unforgiving and could not be smudged/buffed out at all to soften the edge. Once on, it was more iron-like in its wear, so if one could manage a good application, it lasted for over 10 hours on me.

Argh.. seriously cannot get my hands on a super black gel liner at this moment in time. Sephora sold out of the suspects I would choose.. Melt being at the top of my list. I do not want Bobbi Brown. I don’t like pens or liquids/liquid gels because despite all their claims, they do not glide over my textured natty eyelids. Looks like CP is not an option either.
I’d say try the Fenty fly pencil blacks, but it’s described not as a ‘gel’ but ‘applies like a gel.’
Fenty tried.. not what I am looking for. It’s okay for tightlining, but I have a tarte one I prefer for that purpose. I’ve also tried Fenty flyliner as well.. fail on my awful lids. I need a steam roller to pass over them and then any old black liner would do!
Although I like the colour of the Radioactive shade (and it did remind me of THE best taupe eye colour Mushroom), the formula seems to be just terrible to work with. And Mineral Girl (with all the multitude of black gel liners around) is just as poor.
Radioactive caught my eye, but a B- isn’t that great and I tend not to use gel liners before they dry out, so I clicked over to the 24/7 Mushroom since it’s the closest dupe, and I realized Mushroom reallllly reminds me of Phosphenes from the Sydney Grace x Temptalia launch, which has really been one of my favorite colors from those palettes. I never would have expected I’d turn into a Taupe girl but here we are.
I think I waited until retirement to slip from green into taupe, lol.
Oh, green is still my favorite, but if I want a neutral I really seem to be reaching for taupe these days! I think it’s because a lot of taupe shades, especially the more satiny, shimmery, and metallic ones, have that same kind of grungy feel as my favorite olive greens. Sometimes they even have a little green shimmer.
Yup. Still into the grungier greens, etc. I think I just avoid the blinding metallics or neons. I’m totally into taupe/ greige lipstick, too. So often I want to fly under the radar and that’s not really possible with SG Danny’s Dream, etc. Taupe can be complex without anyone knowing. It may be on your face, but seldom in your face.
Wonder why ColourPop made these potted eyeliners sooo dry? They sound like a LITERAL pain to apply! Pretty shades, though.
I would really love to see you do a post about your favorite brushes for gel liners! I have a Melt one and I just can’t get the hang of it, but I think it would be great if I could just find the right brush.
Radioactive looks absolutely lovely, such a pity it was so hard to apply and so dry.
UD Mushroom jumped on to the WL instead.
