ColourPop Poor Unfortunate Souls Super Shock Highlighter Review & Swatches

Poor Unfortunate Souls

ColourPop Poor Unfortunate Souls Super Shock Cheek (Highlighter) ($10.00 for 0.15 oz.) is a light lavender with subtle, cool undertones and cooler blue and violet pearl. It had buildable pigmentation from sheer to semi-opaque and was most pigmented by applying with fingertips. The texture was smooth, emollient without being too slippery, and thin–it felt more like a powder as soon as it came into contact with my skin. It applied evenly and blended out with little effort, but I did find that this shade did not blend out as easily as most Super Shock shades have for me. It stayed on well for nine and a half hours before fading noticeably.

It’s interesting that they’re now happily packaging super shock formulas in cardboard flip top packaging as opposed to the screw tops they usually come in… Either they’ve tweaked their formula or they don’t dry out as quickly as first thought…

Reading above how it didn’t apply as easily and fuss free as the usual SS Cheek formula now has me a little worried about CP’s decision to house these in a regular case. Idk, but perhaps this will become problematic within a short time after purchase? Hmmm… ?
As for this shade, I know I’m set with Nyx Lavender Steele for those times when I just have to rock a purple sheen on my cheeks!

Thanks. I have a dupe, and the clear with sparkle glosses aren’t totally appealing to me in general, so it looks as if the Ursula set is out; any order will be individual pieces from CP, Ulta points notwithstanding. You def save us in the moolah dept!

Gorgeous look! I’m glad I did purchase this now; I loved the colour of the My Little Pony ‘Trickles’ powder highlighter CP did back in the day, but the formula was terrible. Hopefully this will be perfect for touch-ups, because as much as I love the Super Shock highlighters, they’re not as portable, and the stick ones NYX used to do – they had this shade, I think it was called Electric Warrior – have been discontinued in Australia.
