ColourPop Nude Mood Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Nude Mood
ColourPop Nude Mood 9-Pan Pressed Powder Palette ($14.00 for 0.36 oz.) is a new, Ulta-exclusive neutral palette featuring warm-toned bronzes and browns across matte and shimmer finishes. For those still on the hunt for an affordable, warm-toned palette, this is a nice one to consider. It should be easy to work with whether you like more pigment or to build up the coverage bit by bit. There was enough depth and tonal variation that I felt like there were a few looks that could be done within the palette.

Bluffin'
Bluffin’ is a light-medium beige with moderate, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. The texture was smooth, velvety, and more substantial, which gave it better grip and opacity when applied to bare skin. It had opaque coverage that wore nicely for eight hours before showing signs of wear.

The new Pressed Powder Shadow formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with an “ultra-velvety and silky” texture that is “long-wearing” and “adheres easily to the eyes.” Most of the shades have semi-opaque to opaque pigmentation that applies well to bare skin, blends out without issue, and lasts for seven to eight hours.
The matte eyeshadows tend to be a little more powdery, though soft and finely-milled, in the pan, while the shimmers have a creamier, dense consistency. Occasionally, the more sparkly or metallic shades apply better with fingertips or a dampened brush.

Wink Wink
Wink Wink is a pale gold with moderate, warm undertones and a sparkling sheen. It had semi-opaque coverage that was somewhat buildable but difficult to get full opacity. It had a cream-to-powder consistency (it was a Super Shock Shadow) that felt more powder-like as soon as it came into contact with my skin. For those who would love to use this as a layering shade or to highlight the inner tearduct/brow, the sheerness might be a non-issue. The eyeshadow lasted well for nine and a half hours before creasing faintly.

Formula Overview

ColourPop Super Shock Shadow is a cream-based formula that comes in a multitude of shades and finishes. The more metallic shades have the most slip to them (they have a “wetter” feel), while the more matte ones have a firmer, more clay-like consistency. Almost every shade I’ve tried from ColourPop has been exceptionally long-wearing (10+ hours of wear, usually there until I remove, even 14 hours later). The pigmentation can vary from shade to shade, but the average shade is quite pigmented.
From feedback I’ve seen from readers, many love them but some don’t like them at all. They aren’t a traditional cream eyeshadow, as they are denser (more sponge-like), and they apply best with flat, firm, synthetic brushes (I like the MAC 242 and 249) for me. The brand recommends using fingers for the most pigmented application, but I’ve only felt that fingers were necessary on a few shades (usually the super glittery ones).
The more matte shades can be on the drier side and vary from medium to opaque in coverage, though they're often buildable. They can be a little hard to diffuse the edges of, though some are lovely to work with.
The more glittery shades have been the weakest to me, as they can be sheerer or harder to apply. Sometimes, they are more pigmented and work like the other finishes in the formula, but often, they are sheerer and only function well patted on top of more pigmented eyeshadows to add glitter. They do, however, tend to have little fallout over time with the occasional shade having a more moderate amount of fallout (but still less fallout than most powder eyeshadows with glitter).

Bare to Wear
Bare to Wear is a light-medium, peachy brown with moderate, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent color coverage in one layer, which applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well along the edges without the color sheering out too easily. The texture was smooth, lightly powdery in the pan, but blendable and easy to work with. It stayed on well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Au Naturale
Au Naturale is a light, golden brown with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was easily buildable to full coverage with less than half of a layer. The texture was soft, blendable, and somewhat powdery, though it only had a touch of fallout during application and wasn’t prone to sheering out too readily. It wore nicely for eight hours before fading visibly on me.

Put On Heirs
Put On Heirs is a bright, light copper with strong, warm golden undertones and a metallic finish. It had opaque color payoff that applied well to bare skin but was best patted and pressed into place to minimize fallout. The texture was lightly emollient but felt more loosely-pressed into the pan, so it tended to work better with fingertips or with a dampened brush. It lasted well for eight hours before fading noticeably.

Mugged Off
Mugged Off is a light-medium, muted orange with warm undertones and flecks of gold micro-sparkle over a more matte base. The texture was moderately powdery, so I’d recommend tapping off excess prior to applying to the lid to minimize fallout. It had opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to my lid and diffused well along the edges, though some of the sparkles strayed beyond where I intended as they separated from the base color. It stayed on well for eight hours with slight fallout over time.

The Cocoa
The Cocoa is a medium-dark brown with warm, reddish undertones and a mostly matte finish. It had a few stray sparkles in it, but I didn’t find they translated much to the lid, if at all, so fallout wasn’t an issue during application nor was it later on during wear. The texture was soft, blendable, and a smidgen powdery in the pan but was easy to work with on my lid. The eyeshadow yielded opaque coverage that lasted well for eight hours before starting to fade visibly.

This looks like a nice, well-rounded palette. But I’m glad it’s nothing I need…money saved! Nude Mood seems like a great palette for someone who doesn’t have anything like it.
For those who wished their Going Coconuts was more warm toned this definitely meets that request and is a nice little palette for warm toned lovers. I love these 9 pan neutral palettes and am hoping that the next reincarnation can be really cool toned?
Even though I’m duped up the wazoo, I may still get this one to use as a travel/on-the-run palette. It could really come in handy!
It’s interesting comparing this one to Colour Pop Brown Sugar. I think Brown Sugar has more variation in tones and is more of a complete eye look, if that makes sense. The Nude Mood seems to have too similar mid-tone mattes.
This is a beautiful palette of rich, warm neutral shades and no pressed glitter either. For me, there are too many matte shades and I have lots of dupes for the shimmer shades.
However, I think it lovely and your eye look is superb.
