ColourPop Matte Colour Stix Reviews & Swatches (Part 2 of 2)
We're Off
ColourPop We’re Off Matte Colour Stix ($6.00 for 0.019 oz.) is a brighter, medium aqua with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had medium pigmentation in one layer, which applied somewhat evenly, but the texture was a little chalky, which made it more prone to patchiness and made it less blendable. It stayed on decently for six and a half hours on me.

Formula Overview
$6.00/0.019 oz. - $315.79 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to be "ultra pigmented" in "one swipe" while being "long wearing" and "water-resistant." There are two finishes: matte and metallic, and the initial release included two shades from each finish, so the overview is based on those four shades, which is not a ton of shades to go off of!
One of the four pencils was drier, stiffer, and was prone to the point snapping off during application. The other three were creamier with the metallic shades being more emollient than the remaining matte shade. The pigmentation varied from shade to shade; it ranged from medium to opaque with some being more buildable than others.
The performance was more consistent with three of the four shades applying comfortably with somewhat even initial layers. They were blendable for five to 10 seconds before they dried down to more budge-proof finish. They didn't feel heavy or clingy on my lids, and while they were creamy, they did not feel slippery as they were drying down so they did not settle into fine lines or creases during the dry down.
I was able to apply them directly from the pencil to my eye area, but I found a brush gave me a more even application and helped me blend out the product without losing some of the coverage compared to application with a fingertip. The shades lasted between six and eight hours before creasing on me.

Style and Ease
ColourPop Style and Ease Matte Colour Stix ($6.00 for 0.019 oz.) is a faded, darker navy blue with strong, cool undertones and a matte finish. The pencil seemed less dry compared to the original version I tried a few weeks ago, but it was still a drier, stiffer formula to work with that yielded sheer, patchy coverage that built up somewhat but never blended out to an even layer. There was creasing visible after six and a half hours of wear.

Bitter Sweet
ColourPop Bitter Sweet Matte Colour Stix ($6.00 for 0.019 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark berry-red with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage in one stroke, which could be built up to semi-opaque coverage; if applied as an eyeliner, the transparency was less visible than if applied all over the lid.
The texture had enough glide to go on without tugging, but it was very quick to dry down, which made it a challenge to blend out (even knowing that and working with this formula previously). It showed signs of creasing after seven hours of wear.

Coffee Shop
ColourPop Coffee Shop Matte Colour Stix ($6.00 for 0.019 oz.) is a richer, deeper brown with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-sheer pigmentation that could be built to medium coverage, but the slightly drier, thicker consistency made it difficult to achieve any semblance of evenness in the coverage (or blend it out at all!). For me, it seemed only workable as an eyeliner, unfortunately. It started to crease after seven hours of wear.

Can no one create a new, truly excellent jumbo eye pencil these days? I’m telling you, that between these and the even worse UD versions, I’m wondering what gives!
Just awful…..
Dammit.. I want bitter sweet..
What gives with pencils these days?
Never thought I’d say it but I’m *into* the patchy look of the blue pencil. It reminds me of denim. I would love to see denim-inspired eye looks become A Thing!
I was curious how the Morphe 2 Eye Wish Shadow Sticks? I haven’t tried either, but I love a good eyeshadow stick and it seems like not many of the new ones are performing so well.
Not sure – haven’t tried those!
I just found “Jenluvsreviews” on YouTube yesterday, (I know, I’m so far behind), and I’m learning a lot about Morphe that is not so awesome. I had no idea the makeup world was so scandalous! Haha. I actually only have one product from them and it’s a palette.
Oh wow, I’m glad I saw this review! I almost missed today’s blog! I tried this product only in the blue color, and boy I’m just not liking it. I struggle with the application, patchy indeed, and I just don’t care for this particular color for some reason. A bit too ..yellow? However, I’m only just In recent months becoming quite serious about learning to properly apply make up, so I wasn’t sure if it was me or if it was the pencil! Now I know I’m not imagining things. I’m having great success with so many other colourpop products.
Glad you caught it, Suzanne… wish you had a better experience than I, but at least we’re not alone!
