ColourPop House of Mirrors Mini Face Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
House of Mirrors
ColourPop House of Mirrors Mini Face Duo ($10.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes a soft brown bronzer and a warmer peach highlighter in a small, plastic compact. I really loved the size of the duo, as I felt it offered plenty of product with a small footprint and affordable price tag. The bronzer didn’t have great pigmentation, and the texture wasn’t the easiest to work with, though the highlighter was lovely.

Opening Act
Opening Act is a medium brown with soft, warm undertones and a matte finish. The texture was soft to the touch, but it was thinner and more powdery, which made for a more difficult time swatching as the powder didn’t adhere well to my arm (which is drier in skin type). It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation that lasted for eight hours on me. It seemed to be more blendable on my cheeks/face compared to my arm, but it took some extra effort to diffuse and get an even application of the color, though.

ColourPop's Pressed Powder Bronzer is supposed to have a "super velvety-soft" feel that yields a "natural tanned glow." There was no mention of coverage, but the brand's promotional swatches showed full coverage. The bronzers had a soft, silky texture that was slightly powdery in the pan but tended to apply with ease, blended out nicely, and sat well on the skin. The majority of the shades seemed to have a semi-matte to satin finish, which helped them glide on and appear more natural (in finish) on the skin. The wear ranged from eight to eight and a half hours on me.

The powder highlighter is supposed to have a "high-shine" finish with "high colour intensity." In general, ColourPop's pressed highlighter powders have a smooth, moderately dense texture that was soft enough to be picked up easily by a brush but not kick up any powder in the pan. The formula was semi-opaque to opaque but easily sheered out for less shine and coverage if desired. There were a few shades within the range that emphasized my skin's natural texture slightly but most did not. The wear ranged from seven and a half hours to nine hours.

Aw, I’m kinda of bummed out as this was the only one of the three I was interested in! I do not own a single bronzer and I really enjoyed how soft the brown was.
Aw, this is sad. I really like it when ColourPop gets high grades. But despite the D rating, Opening Act looks beautiful on you, Christine.
Also, I noticed that CP’s “About Us” page shows Temptalia’s editor recommendations…very cool and helpful when shopping!
Agrree , Mac Cosmetics. After this upcoming Aaliyah collection I am done with the brand unless you/others give high grades/ good reviews.
Kat Von D , done with her brand too. She was too quick to go vegan and not perfect a great formula. Her new stuff has been hit and miss, mostly miss due to the idea that I think she kind of checked out of her brand. She seems to not care about it anymore with her shoe line, etc.. in the works.
Sadly, my next is Viseart. I think they let the hype get to them. Their quality in their newest eyeshadow palettes are not matching their prices.
With MAC, I mostly find myself buying older lipstick and eyeshadow shades that I don’t have yet, rather than new releases. If I based my feelings about MAC solely on new releases, I’d probably give up on them, too.
Main Attraction is a gorgeous highlight! Too bad it’s not offered as a single, though. I do have UD Now’s The Time and also CP Lunch Money. As for the bronzer, I wonder how it would perform over foundation? As foundation can boost the performance of any cheek product.
Do you think the highlighter here is the same formula as their highlighters in the In-Nude-Endo paletter?
It’s a little softer!
Thanks for replying! I might get this duo instead of the big highlighting palette then.
