ColourPop Fruit Basket Just a Tint Duo Review & Swatches
Fruit Basket
ColourPop Fruit Basket Just a Tint Duo (Mini) ($12.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a new, limited edition mini-sized duo of new shades in the brand’s tinted lipstick/lip-balm formula. I’m a big fan of this formula from a big picture view, as it’s very comfortable, forgiving of lip texture, and hydrating, but like I’ve experienced in the past, both shades were a lot more pigmented than sheer (as marketed!). As long as the amped up pigmentation is a good thing, they’re nice!

Juicy Apple
Juicy Apple is a medium pink with subtle, cool undertones and a cream finish with moderate shine. The consistency was smooth, lightweight, and balm-like–emollient while being thin (but not clingy!) and not overly slippery (more like a lipstick). It had medium, buildable color payoff–though it was intended to have sheer coverage–that adhered evenly to my lips and wasn’t prone to emphasizing my natural texture. The color lasted nicely for four hours and felt moisturizing over time.

Formula Overview
$7.00/0.07 oz. - $100.00 Per Ounce
The formula is described as "the perfection sheer wash of colour in the comfiest, lightweight, super moisturizing formula." Here's the big takeaway... they are not that sheer; they're not a wash of color. They have medium to semi-opaque, buildable coverage with a few shades being more true medium in coverage; I just wouldn't say they're sheer nor just a wash. That medium to semi-opaque level of coverage still allows for some translucency, which gives the color a lighter look that's more like a stain.
The texture was creamy, thin, lightweight, and balm-like; I'd actually say it felt like a gel-like balm because it had the cushion-like slip of a lip balm but had the smoothing prowess of more gel-based formulas. The most impressive aspect of the formula was how little the colors sank into my lip lines and how forgiving they were with imperfections in lip texture. The wear time varied from two and a half to four hours on me, and the formula was lightly hydrating over time. They have a sweet, fruity scent (passionfruit per their website) but no discernible taste.

Cherry Cherry
Cherry Cherry is a brighter, medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation with a smooth, lightweight consistency that was like a lipstick-lip balm hybrid in feel as it glided comfortably across my lips. It wore well for four hours and felt lightly hydrating over time. The “downside” was that it was supposed to have sheer color.

These are cute! Very spring-like. I’d wear them both.
This set is really pretty on the lips! :o) Thanks for sharing your thoughts… love that they are somewhat hydrating!
Juicy Apple is definitely a color I know I’d like and I’m all about the tinted lip balm life. I wish I liked the scent of these more. The smell and taste (at least of the original ones and I don’t think it has been changed) was offputting for me as it was really strong. I know some people love the smell so it’s a me problem and not a product problem by any means.
They are sweet and fruity, though I swear ONE (Coconut Juice) was… beachy.
Even though I’m not about to place another order with CP right now, I really love this duo! Especially Cherry Cherry. I do like that they are more pigmented than advertised, so I can see myself getting plenty of use out of these.
These are on my wish list so I’m glad they performed well.
These are so pretty and fresh on you, Christine! Makes me long for spring…
Thank you, Gilad! I do love the formula generally – it is easy to wear but carries enough pigment to have a few.
Suddenly, I want to re-read the manga “Fruits Basket.”
These look really cute 💕 I love the lighter pink shade the best .
I’m in love with these gorgeous shades. They’re so spring like and cheerful. The type of shades that tend to suit my skintone. I love the adorable packaging as well! L of Dupethat said, in her video, that each fruit pencil smells like it’s fruit!
